no signs of missing 11 year-old william after a weekend search. the latest on his disappearance and the measurer of his mother. i'm don scott. >> i'm jessica kartalija. here is what people are talking about today. the case generating national headlines since last week. a 6th grader whose disappeared from montgomery county. his mother was found dead and the man charged with killing her has a court appearance today. >> reporter: they are searching again today. that man is her estranged husband, police say he beat and stabbed william's mom. he has not been charged in connection with william's disappearance. >> our focus right now is to locate william. >> reporter: police are

desperate to find the 11-year- old from maryland missing for almost a week. they spentel hours yesterday searching two parks in northern montgomery county for william mc qain. those searches turned up nothing. >> the hope is he is still alive. however we are using teams and people experienced when the person is deceased. >> you don't think something like that is going to hit in your hometown. i hope they find him. i hope they find him alive. >> reporter: police found the mother dead and say she was murdered in the bedroom of her home in german town and arrested curtis lopez, her e scrainged husband in north carolina -- estranged husband in north carolina. he is charged with killing her. investigators say lopez is not william's father and has not provided information on where the little boy maybe. he has a violent history and

his mother reportedly told friends she was scared of him. william's friends are keeping their faith, hoping he will be found safe, he will be found alive. >> he is probably lost and scared right now because he has nowhere to go. no food or anything. >> reporter: the search yesterday included horses, dogs, and almost 100 police officers and volunteers. back to you. >> police won't say what led them to search the two particular parks put say they are getting tips that need to be checked. maryland man held in aruba in the disappearance of his traveling companion will be in court today. the attorneys are asking a judge to release him from custody. he has been detained since august after robin guardner disappeared. police are investigating a gruesome discovery inside a

dumpster in downtown baltimore. officers found a woman's body in the trash on charles street. no signs of foul flay. detectives say they are not sure how the woman died. back to work today for lawmakers in annapolis. the general assembly reconveneing to redraw the congressional districts. proposed map would have changes for some communities especially when it comes to minority representation. wjz 13 will have more at 5:00 and 6:00. today, word of a big life challenge for a local one time tv news man turned radio talk show host who delivered news about himself. ron smith announcing he has been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. he starts chemotherapy friday and wants to work while receiving treatment and been on

radio 11 since 1984. turning to sports now, ravens fans are full of purple pride. mark viviano explains players say it took everything they had to take down those texians. >> reporter: one day after the baltimore marathon, the ravens put their best feet forward, kicker billy, boots five field goals and a win over the houston texians. those kicks were critical in the second half come back. houston took the lead in this third quarter on mat shab's pass to jones. first time this season the ravens failed in the second. they did respond with flacco going deep with two connections that set up field goals to bolden. ray rice on the ground would roll up 100 rushing yards. this one run led to a touchdown. ravens beat the texians 29-14.

world of indy cars is reeling after one of its most popular drivers is killed in a fiery crash. two time indy a hundred winner dan wheldon was in the middle of a 15-car wreck. he was air lifted to the hospital and pronounced dead. emotional drivers are trying to come to terms with the news. >> i lost one of my best friends. i don't know what to say. >> we lost a good friend. everybody at indy car series

considered dan a friend. you saw the reaction. he was a special person. >> drivers returned to the track for a 5- lap salute in honor of wheldon. he leaves behind a wife and two sons, he was 33 years old. learning about a huge apartment fire in boston. investigators say it appears someone set the blaze. it left dozens of people homeless. sp are injured including two firefighters and a police officer and a resident is under arrest. speeders beware, it's a new day. today, several mobile speed cameras will go on line in school zones as police crack down on lead foot drivers. if you are going 12 miles per hour over the speed limit will be issued a $40 ticket in the mail.

afternoon. a front passed through in to this morning. winds out of the south during the overnight hours and turning around to the northwest not much more than clouds with the front. a couple of sprinkles out there. that front is leaving us in here, but down to the south and west are two more parts going to come together as another storm and move our way tuesday night in to wednesday. this is how it works out. tomorrow during the day, sunshine for the most part. clouds going to thicken up through the afternoon and the rain will start tomorrow night continuing in to wednesday. after that this storm will get out of here, during the overnight hours wednesday, behind it, this huge dip in the jet stream is going toolinger in to thursday and friday. a couple of showers possible thursday afternoon. this is going to bring in a lot of cool air from the north. a hit in our temperatures. the forecast comes together like this for today. on the waters, winds turning to the northwest as we speak as the front passed through today.
