that swayed the jury. >> it took a jury just under 5 hours to convict walter bishop, jr. of murder. and has obtained the key piece of evidence that could lead to his execution. >> reporter: in his own words, walter bishop, jr. described how he killed. >> he just started to turn his head and i went like this. >> reporter: and the tape recorded in an interrogation room. the gunman explained the bizarre murder for hire plot that went down inside the gas station owned by the victim. >> i walked in and just towards his face. i just closed my eyes and pulled the trigger. >> reporter: at the center of the scheme, karla porter, the victim's wife whom he claims promise to do pay him $9000 to kill him. he said karla porter turned to

him and asked one question. >> she said, was he dead and i said i guess. >> reporter: could face the death penalty under a new law. a friend says bishop got messed up with the wrong crowd. >> he's 29 years old, he's got 5 kids. he's never been in trouble before. >> reporter: but now, it's this conversation with detectives that may end up costing bishop his life. and the jury could sentence bishop to death or life in prison. the penalty phase of the trial begins tomorrow. reporting live, megan mccork al. thank you, in all 6 people were arrested in the murder for hire plot. karla porter goes on trial next year. another shooting at a gas station in baltimore county at the gulf station. at least one person is wounded.

county police say that victim has been rushed to -- and they are trying to gather more details. police need your help find ago man behind a brazen sex assault. the girl tells police she was looking for directions when the men took her into the van and then gang raped her. police are looking for a tan van with this one with curtains covering the windows. enough is enough. across the country and in baltimore leaders are fed up with the occupy baltimore movement. the mayor says it's time to go. we're live where protesters are gathering for growing conviction. >> didn't it's unclear when potesters may have to leave.

there are protesters, some quite loud in downtown baltimore. >> we will be a single party. >> reporter: grievances are being aired under the watchful eye of police. >> in a very. >> reporter: and there are plenty of -- the occupy movement has made it clear they are here to stay. yet leaders are making it clear the campers have worn out their welcome. right now protesters admit they are walking a fine line of freedom of speech and occupying the spreets. they are working with the city to work out a compromise. >> i think it's got to be an ongoing discussion with the city. i actually think we're both wanting the same things, which is the ability for all citizens to peacefully protest but still allow all others to be here. >> reporter: the occupy

movement has been spreading across the country. groups are complaining about disparities between americans. in some cities the protests have turned violent. in oakland california demonstrators clash with police. >> i think in their way they are trying to civil eyes that. >> reporter: and occupy members tell eyewitness news they will continue to stay out here until they hear otherwise from the city. >> reporter: the occupy movement has been in baltimore for more than 3 weeks. the story of a murder, she killed fellow worker dana murray. now they are just trying to prove it wasn't a premeditated attack. prosecutors argued more than 300 wounds are proof that norwood should be convicted of first degree murder. revelations from birdie

it's 65 degrees and cloudy in central maryland right now. a 100-year-old power dam is sent crumbling to the ground in ohio state. >> explosives were used to blast through the base of the 2 story structure. the utility chose to remove the dam instead of retrofitting it for fish. young children forced to live inside a dog kennel in nebraska. they called the living conditions the most unsanitary they have ever seen t. children ranged from 8 months to 8

happened. >> a british coroner says singer amy winehouse died from drinking too much. the official cause is death by misadventure. said she voluntarily consumed alcohol and risked the consequences. the 27-year-old was found dead at her london home on july 23 july 23rd. money assumed she had overdosed. but at an inquest wednesday a pathologist testified winehouse was more than 5 times over the drunk driving limit when she died. and her parents learned their daughter hit the bottle after being dry for 3 weeks. winehouse's body guard said he thought the singer was sleeping on the morning she died but when he checked on her again several hours later she hadn't moved. detectives found empty vodka

bottles scattered around the bedroom. the oh singer was tipsy but fine. the autopsy revealed winehouse was not ticking illegal drugs but doctors say she had -- a spokesman for the family says winehouse was battling hard to conquer her battles with alcohol and said it's a source of great pain that she could not win. winehouse's father is writing a book about the late singer. it's due out next summer. the theme park is being sued over its treatment of the whales. they say the orcas are slaves and want them released under the 13th amendment. this is the first lawsuit that

going to get a lot colder the next couple of days. the dewpoint at 55 degrees. no winds at all. a little bit of patchy fog in some spots. the barometer beginning to fall. right now 63, pretty mild. and still 68 down in pax river. most areas across northern maryland in the mid to upper 50s. it's going to stay mild through about early morning, midday tomorrow and then temps will begin to fall. tomorrow the winds by noon or 1:00 will start shifting to the w's, northwest. that will start bringing colder air and by this time tomorrow night will be in the upper 40s. and late tomorrow night and friday we have a freeze watch for extreme northern maryland. as you can see out to allegany county. these have not seen any frost

conditions so far this season, which is getting a little late. that's why it's possible some of these regioning could get down to 32 degrees on friday morning. it will clear out once the rain moves through the region. that colder dryer air will come back in. the only caviate is it may be too breezy for that to happen. we'll see this rain tonight, during the day tomorrow late in the afternoon and evening we'll start seeing some clearing as that cold air comes in. arena hasn't done a whole lot and a lot of the models have it dying out and hanging right around the yucatan and just dying out there by monday. it really hasn't gone anywhere. at least that's what all the models are looking at. all have them right through there. it looks like it's going to stay. never even get to southern

florida. at this point just kind of hanging out. a rainstorm and western cuba. so it looks like right now coz mel will see rains. but the hurricane force winds only extend out 15 miles so that's a very small system. mild weather to our south. colder weather coming in, yes, but overnight friday into saturday another low could form down to our south. might bring us a little more rain north and west of the region. might be cold enough for snow flakes to move in on saturday morning. the bay temp 62. today a little rain coming in. 52. tomorrow, periods of rain, then turning colder. 65 down into the 40s, eventually upper 30s. more rain possible saturday ending in the afternoon. 45, very cold, 34 at night.
