[ laughter ] >> reporter: the race is scheduled to run again next year. and baltimore's racing development says it is sure it will be on firm ground by then. >> thank you, pat. the city signed a five-year agreement with the race. >> game back on. a controversial decision for a high school soccer team is reversed. it all centered around a celebration dance that is set around the country. gigi barnett is live at perry hall high school to explain why the principal changed his mind. gigi? >> reporter: well yesterday, when we talked to the principal here, he said he had already made his final decision, until today, he changed his mind. >> reporter: after kicking a winning goal against delaney high school earlier this week and performing this controversial victory dance on the field, punishment for perry hall's boy's soccer team came

quickly. the school's principal, george roberts, forfeited the win and ended the season. but today, roberts changed his mind. >> they will play. >> reporter: this week, roberts's' original decision starts the debate. after the parents called the bernie dance, lewd inappropriate, unsportsman like behavior. >> it wasn't the dance. it was the type of dance. it was more that the dance was done. >> there's no taunting, no cuss words issue no touching of the private parts. >> perry hall parents protested. and facebook pages protesting the ending of the season popped up. >> just happy it was overturned and they'll get to play. >> we're so happy. i think so much weight is lifted off our shoulder. >> reporter: the bernie dance comes from the 1989 movie "weekend at berb -- bernie's." now the dance is a hit at professional sports, especially

52-year-old freddie jones was in the carryout when three men burst inside. he was shot when he fought back against the men. police are looking for two other suspects tonight. denise? >> all right. thank you, mary. monday's shooting was the fourth at yao brothers in the past three years. intense deliberations. still no verdict in the corruption trial of powerful maryland senator ulysses currie. he is accused of using his influence to benefit a grocery store chain. i guess they're still deliberating right now. weijia? >> well, vic, the judge actually sent them home for the weekend, just before 5:00 tonight. but they'll be back first thing next week to decide if the judge will be vindicated or tainted as a scandalous politician. >> reporter: his reputation and seasoned career. personal and political future is out of has hands. a jury continues to deliberate. shoppers.

accused of killing his stepson and his estranged wife did it for an suv. wjz is live. mike hellgren has more on the motive and the murder weapon. >> reporter: police believe it was the boy's own baseball bat. a judge denied his stepdad bail. >> this is video of curtis lopess being brought in one of the most disturbing cases. prosecutors say lopez killed his 11-year-old stepson william, and his estranged wife, jane mcquain because he wanted to give her new honda to his new love. >> he had, in fact, stolen her car and given it to his newest girlfriend in north carolina. >> reporter: investigators also uncovered new surveillance video from a gas station. they say it shows lopez with a baseball bat he used to kill the little boy who was playing, never aware of the horror awaiting him. >> the baseball bat that was used to kill him was found a short distance away from the

body. >> reporter: little william's body was found in the woods. and lopez fled the state. his public defender says prosecutors have no evidence against him, that their case is nothing but circumstantial. but investigators say they can prove rolo pez kill -- lopez killed jane mcquain in her sleep. prosecutors called it ghastly violence. >> the reality is, it's not like tv. evidence like dna takes time to develop. >> reporter: the murders have drawn national attention and outrage online. >> it's just crazy what people will do to speacialt their -- especially their own family. >> just divorce. justinjust -- or just walk away. you don't have to kill. >> reporter: and the state's attorney has not yet decided whether to ask for the death penalty. back to you. >> thank you. lo -- lopez's violent past includes attempted murder in pennsylvania.

here we have another live look outside now. it has been another fantastic fall day. here's bob now. >> the sun has set. temperatures in the next hour, they are going to be plunging quickly into the 40s. if you're heading out tonight, it will be chilly and breezy. 53 now. by next hour, probably down to about 47. 52 in ocean city. 45 in oakland. they'll be down around 25 tonight. out in garrett county. 24 is the dew point. that means typically it was no wind and clear skies. you could get down to the mid- 20s. we won't get that low. but i think some suburban areas, north and west of town, southern p.a., will probably get down around 27, 28. 55, kent island and annapolis. it will not get that cold by the water. but away from the urban areas, the bay. still has a marina effect. it will be quite chilly and frosty in the morning. and a little breezy. still have that wind generally

it is just before 6:30. 53 degrees and clear. here are some of the stories people are talking about tonight. right now, a jury is deliberating the fate of dr. conrad murray. they must decide if he is responsible for michael jackson's death or if the king of pop accidentally killed himself. karen brown reports for wjz from the courthouse in los angeles. >> reporter: jurors have over 300 pieces of evidence and the testimony of 49 witnesses to consider as they deliberate the fate of dr. conrad murray. seven men and five women must decide who is responsible for michael jackson's death. his personal physician or the singer himself? >> he deceived the paramedics. >> reporter: prosecutors say the choice is clear. >> this is criminal negligence. criminal, gross negligence. >> reporter: they accuse dr. murray of giving jackson too much of the ranesthetic propofol, failing to properly

monitor him, and then waiting too long to call 911 am. >> if you're going to hold dr. murray responsible. >> reporter: the defense blames jackson for giving himself the lethal dose. they say dr. murray is only on trial because jackson was a super star. this is not a reality show. it's reality. >> reporter: during the six- week trial, jurors listened to an interview that dr. murray gave police. but they never heard directly from the defendant because he chose not to take the stand. some legal experts believe that can have an impact. >> the truthful answer is yes. >> wow. >> it shouldn't, but it does. so many people, and jurors, particularly, have in their mind, well, if he was innocent, he would have explained what happened. >> reporter: the judge gave jurors lengthy inspection about how to use the law and invited them to use their common sense, when deciding if dr. murray was guilty or innocent of involuntary manslaughter.

karen brown, wjz eyewitness news. >> and you can count on wjz to bring you the verdict in the trial of dr. conrad murray as soon as it comes down. a dangerous encounter. a new report shows just how serious the threat was to police after wild animals were set free at a private ohio zoo. >> reporter: deputies arrived at a private compound to find lions and bears charging them. according to police reports released a short time ago, one deputy shot a charging bear that shot 57 feet from him. at one point, he shot alt another lion. the animal's owner released them from their cages before taking his own life. it is still not clear why he did it. >> police have defended their decision to shoot and kill the animals, saying they were trying to protect themselves and the public. police arrest three men, suspected of impersonating officers. monique grioag -- griego smoke with one of the victims.

>> reporter: police say these three men, 23-year-old daunte drigs, wayne harris, and wayne casey, pretended to be police, in order to rob people at gunpoint. >> they had fake badges on. >> they had guns. >> reporter: thomas said they confronted him. >> they rifled through their pocket. took an amount of u.s. currency. some cigarettes and left the scene. >> didn't take long for the group to realize something was up. officers were able to catch up with the thieves. >> they were accountively engaged in another case of police impersonations am. >> officers found they had badges and a revolver that shot blanks. those items got police looking at similar cases. >> we're now investigating to see if this is linked. >> reporter: since july, there have been several home invasions, where people have

looked like a chase scene from a movie. brazilian police trying to stop a smuggler from taking off. the video shows them speeding towards an airplane. the officer will ram into the wing, disabling the aircraft. the five suspects on board were all arrested. police say over 100,000 dollars of electronics were also seized. the firestorm continues for herman cain. today, one of the women who accuses him of sexual harassment breaks her silence. danielle nottingham reports for wjz from the white house. >> reporter: herman cain returned from washington friday to put his presidential campaign back on track. >> the american dream has been hijacked. but the good news is, we can take it back. >> reporter: cain has spent most of the week answering questions about sexual harassment allegations from his years as the head of the national restaurant association. friday, one of his accusers

released a statement through her attorney. it has no details about what happened, but the attorney did say the accuser complained about a series of inappropriate behaviors. >> my client filed a written complaint in 1999, against him specifically. and it had very specific incidents in it. and if he chooses to not remember or not acknowledge those, that's his issue. >> the woman does not plan to say anything publicly. >> cain insists he never sexually harassed anyone. he's blaming rivals for attack has character because of his unexpected success. >> reporter: for now, republican voters in iowa seemed willing to give cain the benefit of the doubt. >> i do worry sometimes, is this true or something somebody is trying to do to knock somebody down that is a leading candidate? >> reporter: cain's campaign says it moving on from the allegations and credits the
