4:23 pm
not that pretty outside. >> that's pretty after today. it will not last forever. take a look at radar. south and west of us, just south of washington, it's really cut off completely, at least at this time. as you can see it's moving off towards the new york area, around the baltimore region now, some heavier echoes. north of town, southwest of us. as you head out to the west, south of martinsburg, very late drizzle. south of that region, the rain has temporarily ended. a few heavier pockets but for the most part very widely scattered areas of rain. it looks like the next few hours, we'll see this moderate rain across northern sections of maryland but later this evening, cloudy, drizzly and foggy conditions. there is more rain to the west and southwest of us. so we do still have some rain in the forecast for overnight and into tomorrow morning before hopefully, we start seeing some drier air move in. temperatures right now, we're
4:24 pm
at 55. dew point 55, 100% humidity. east wind at seven, 57 down on the south. there's some warmer air trying to move in from virginia and the carolinas. temperatures tonight probably aren't going to go anywhere. maybe a couple of degrees and actually come up during the morning tomorrow, maybe into the low to mid-60s before the rain ends and a front comes through the renal and that will change the wind to the northwest. that will bring in drier and cooler air. right now, generally an east wind in the area. look at that low pressure out over missouri this afternoon. now, it's heading towards ohio so the bulk of that heavier rain to our north and northwest as you can see, warm, sunny down here and some thundershower activity as that front approaches so we're not yet done with the rain. this front's going to have to go through the area tomorrow and maybe even a thundershower with it before it begins to dry out. so looking for cooler and eventually drier conditions late wednesday night and thursday now, sunny yes.
4:25 pm
drier and cooler. temperatures in the low to mid- 50s. and a nice pleasant day really, a nice fall afternoon and the same thing for friday but even warmer. so tomorrow the rain for the most part. east of us, there will be a little bit in the mountains. plenty of clouds i'm sure. so overnight tonight, look for rain, maybe even some thunder in some spots. 54 and some fog. tomorrow, mostly morning rain. then maybe a shower or thundershower and then clearing by evening, may take a while. 64 degrees tomorrow, and then it drops to low to mid-50s for thanksgiving. but we do dry out. so travel tomorrow, not the best day for travel. >> but not cold. thank you. don't miss cbs's prime time lineup everybody at 10:00. a new episode of unforgettable, followed by eyewitness news at 11:00. the maryland terps hope to end their season on a winning note. see their last game live right here on wjz 13. there's more ahead on wjz. at 4:30, lingering questions.

4:34 pm
warrant for his arrest. last time police went looking for him, he was found in las vegas. scott is charged along with a codefendant with the murder of philip watson outside a night club in march. >> anyone with information on scott's whereabouts is asked to call police. as we approach the holiday season, president obama keeps to tradition and grants several pardons for convicted criminals. the president issued pardons for five people convicted on drug and gambling crimes. he also commuted the sentence of eugenia jennings, a woman sentenced to 20 years for distributing cocaine in 2001. the president has pardoned 22 people since december of last year. every day, millions of fliers are hit with checked bag fees, but that won't be the case for long if a maryland lawmaker gets his way. we have the details of new legislation. >> senator ben carden is pushing for a new bill that could save frequent fliers a lot of money.
4:35 pm
the senator is cosponsor of a bill stopping any airline from charging a fee for checking one bag. it would also require airlines to tell passengers about all bag restrictions before they arrive at the airport. tsa officials say the fees prompt many people to carry on more bags, slowing down the lines. spirit airlines is the only airline to charge fliers for carry-on bags. >> according to a survey, 70% of passengers say their biggest pet peeve is when people trying to bring too many carry-on bags through security. hopefully the weather will improve as we approach thanksgiving. outside right now, it's gray and dreary with rain showers. that's from the weather guy. wjz has weather and traffic. bob is here now with the updated numbers from first warning weather. >> not great on the roads as i mentioned a little while ago, the law requires lights on when your wipers are on. i saw a lot of cars today without the lights on and it's
4:36 pm
very dangerous. you just can't see the cars with all the spray coming up behind the cars. take a look at radar. we do have an end temporary to the rain -- end temporarily to the rain south and west of us. west of the area, just south of berkeley springs, charlestown, there's an end to that solid rain, just some fog and drizzle down there. and there's some spotty rain across southern maryland and maybe some thunder down there, as well. take a look at the activity. you see it moving pretty much from southwest to northeast, moving up generally toward eastern pennsylvania. so if you're heading up that way, it will be rainy a lot longer. we do expect to see an end to the rain, probably not until tomorrow afternoon but it will be much drier on thursday with a lot of sunshine just in time for thanksgiving. >> thank you, bob. let's check on the roads right now with the traffic control. >> hi, everyone. well, it's gone from bad to worse out there. if you're traveling on the inner loop, you're looking at an hour and a half delay from the parkway all the way around

just fog and drizzle but the overnight south of us, shower activity as you can see. and a few rumbles of thunder down there, but primarily south and west of washington, no echoes showing at all. so i think by that 8:00 or 9:00 hour, the bulk of the rain across the region will be moving up to the north and feast. the region as you can clearly see, it's moving pretty quickly now. another couple of hours and we'll be dealing with it unfortunately for the rush hour home when we deal with the rain. it looks like tomorrow, there will be an end to the rain but not until maybe 1:00 or 2:00 in the afternoon. it's going to come back again to haunt us. let's take a look at temperatures right now, 55, dew point 55, humidity 100 percent. can't get any more humid than it is, east winds at seven. the barometer just high, cooler in oakland, 57 d.c., and ocean city. elkton at 52. locally, mid-50s around the region. not going to move much tonight.

in fact, later tonight, temperatures may start coming up overnight. 11 up to 60 by morning. 76 in atlanta. 43 in chicago. these are the temperatures, 45 in bismarck, the cooler air will move in. once we get rid of the rain, the front will move through the area and what's going to happen is all the rain will move up towards new england. this front will pass that area during the morning tomorrow, maybe some turned after that and behind it, slow clearing by afternoon. so there is some hope for drier conditionses by tomorrow night. thursday looks great, temperatures in the low and mid- 50s but bright and sunny and a nice cool thursday night. sunshine again on black friday. so some good weather for the end of the week. tonight, then, some rain and fog, maybe a thundershower in a couple of spots. 64, and then cooler and drier but probably not until later in the afternoon. tomorrow night, clears back up
