as far as 83 and northbound goes, you can see things really beginning to slow down there over to belfast. and also, the inner loop is beginning to back down as well, at least 30 minutes now over to hartford road. let's take a look at a graphic that we have about some slow spots that you will need to stop out for traveling this season. if you're traveling up in the delaware area, we already have some reported delays there over into the pennsylvania line, heavy traffic around the new jersey turn pike. accidents already reported at exit 8 and exit 13 and the gw bridge very, very busy there heading into new york. a lot of traffic expected on both levels. so we'll continue to bring you up to date as the evening progresses. back over to you. >> thank you very much. meteorologist tim williams and bob turk are keeping an eye on our driving conditions. let's start with bob tracking first warning doppler radar. >> as you saw, there's some rain south of the city. you take a look at the radar, there's a little batch of rain

down 97 towards annapolis. also, down across much of southern maryland, some rain heading down in your general direction. as you head up towards the new york area and connecticut, still some rain on the jersey turn pike right now. you can see it but it's moving off to the east. so shortly, at least east of philadelphia, there's still a little rain but if you're heading up a little bit later this evening, generally should be dry. that's the good news. maybe one or two brief showers. tim has a look at what we can expect for the next three days and it's looking real good. >> well, after tomorrow night, this very strong low that bob talked about moving out and high pressure moving in, these winds will start to calm down. if you're driving a high- profile vehicle, the winds are going to play into the forecast because they will blow you around. there are no wind advisories in effect right now but the winds are definitely picking up out here right now and will be for the rest of this evening and into tomorrow. now, tomorrow, the low we're expecting about 34 degrees but the high right around 57 to 58. on friday for black friday in time for shopping, the

bus driver and another adult. two people from a third vehicle involved were also hurt. everyone has been treated and released. mary? >> okay. thank you. the suspected drunk driver is identified as 45-year-old john cravates of mechanicsville. a neighborhood feud turns deadly in hartford county. a man refuses to leave his neighbor's house and dies. we speak with a woman who witnessed the whole thing. >> oh, my god. joe! jay! where are you? >> reporter: janet green is in disbelief after learning her friend 53-year-old joseph breckinridge died tuesday evening, made even more distraught by the bizarre circumstances. >> he told me to get my husband, i got my husband, they were holding him down until he got there and when the cops came, he was gone. >> reporter: she watched the scene unfold at her friend's house in the 2,000 block.

breckinridge walked into his next door neighbor's unlocked home uninvited. when he refused to leave, a fight broke out. >> it was a struggle, it was physical, there were no weapons involved and we'll need to wait for the results from the office of the chief medical examiner. >> reporter: neighbors say he would often walk up and down the street, knocking on many doors, trying to get inside. >> i don't know him and he would want to use the phone, can i use your phone? i mean, bang, bang, bang. >> reporter: green says he suffered from mental illness. >> how can i look at him as a criminal? >> he's never disrespected me. the most is he would use my phone or i would give him something to eat. >> reporter: police continue to investigate what went wrong. >> it's horrible. i didn't want that man to die. he has a family. why would i want that on anybody? >> police do not plan to file any charges in this case but say that could change depending what the autopsy report

this man is among them. it's devastating, he says. three american students are still in custody. they were arrested on the roof of an university building, accused of throwing fire bombs at security forces. the three say they were just watching. one of them, derrik sweeney, spoke to his parents by phone. he said he's being treated well under the circumstances. >> u.s. embassy officials in cairo have visited with the students. the obama administration is calling on protesters and police to end the violence. >> egyptian security forces need to show more restraint. parliamentary elections slated to take place on monday, that needs to be where egyptians express themselves and their desire for a democratic future for their country, through the ballot box. >> reporter: the ruling general tried to calm the crowds by saying the military would hold the presidential election in july, much earlier than the original plan, but that wasn't enough to make protesters

destinations, goodwill volunteers are serving up turkey dinners to those in need. monique griego is there as thousands of people receive a free holiday meal. >> you're welcome. happy holidays. >> reporter: turkey and all the fixin's. >> the food is really good and the atmosphere is really nice. they're going out of their way to make us feel comfortable. >> reporter: she and her family shared an early thanksgiving with a crowd of people as goodwill served up free turkey dinners at the downtown convention there. >> there's people out here that don't have family and the people here who maybe feel like there's no family. >> reporter: 1,800 pounds of turkey is what goodwill expects to go through in order to feed the 3,500 people flowing through these doors. >> follow that pretty young lady. >> it really does take a lot of goodwill. there are around 250 volunteers here and all this food is don't want -- is donated. >> giving is always better than receiving. >> reporter: for many, if it

oh, man, what a beautiful sunset. after some of that rain in the region, some drier and cooler air moving in at least for tonight. let's take a look at radar.

there's one little batch of light shower activity just south of the baltimore region and it continues to move across the bay. so you folks in the eastern shore may see a little bit of light rain in the next hour or two moving into the southern counties, st. mary's, a little bit of charles county. look for some showers. it moves out. there have been some snowflakes. 36 now out in oakland. they had some flurries earlier but it's pretty much done. 46 in cumberland, we're down to 49. the dew point's down to 40 and i notice we'll get back down into the 30s. tonight, it will be a little bit breezy. it's going to feel a little bit colder than we've seen. 51 in ocean city and the warm spot in putuxen. temperatures almost at 70 degrees before that front came through. you see the northwest wins that's bringing in this drier and cooler air. that's where the showers are, like a secondary front.

21-mile-per-hour winds up inelkton, 28 at pax river, and 14 with a temperature of 36 out in oakland, feeling pretty chilly out there. d.c. at 16. some areas picked up more than 2.5 inches, almost 3 inches in some spots. northern baltimore county, the airport picked up a little bit more than an inch and a half and there was some flooding in some areas in baltimore, carol, washington county. to the north of us today, just a little good batch of snow towards maine. one to as much as 6 inches in maine. heavy rain all along the 95 corridor. earlier today it's pretty much moved off, thank goodness but there's a little bit of shower activity in the portions of new jersey just east of new york, you see some rain. and some scattered stuff in new jersey. the area of rain moving away. so for the time being, we'll look for clearing skies, a much nicer day coming up tomorrow and high pressure not much of a breeze, sunshine, it will be

officer shot and man who was allegedly brandishing two knives. >> he refused verbal commands, so in fear for her life, the officer fired upon the suspect. he was struck at least once in the lower abdomen. >> reporter: the man was said to be alert and talking when taken to the hospital but by afternoon, police reported he had died from his gunshot wounds. >> homicide detectives will be investigating as is routine and once the findings are determined, we'll present that to the state's attorney. >> reporter: neighbors have seen trouble here before. >> every time you turn around, something going on, man. somebody getting shot. never get no good news. >> at this point, it's not clear whether the man threatened anyone else with the knives. >> just a little too early. we're waiting to get more witness statements and more things. >> reporter: one aspect is clear. >> i mean, it's so close to thanksgiving. the always and everything, it's just a shame. >> reporter: alex demetrick, wjz eyewitness news. >> the officer was not injured. neither she nor the man who

died have been identified by police. baltimore county police say the son of a russian woman is a suspect in her mysterious death. yulia pogrebenko disappeared while driving from the airport to maryland in february. her remains were discovered four months later in the chesapeake bay. police say her son has not been charged. he's in prison for a delaware bank robbery. new allegations of child sex abuse have surfaced against jerry sandusky. vic is in the newsroom with more on the unique nature of this investigation. >> these are the first known cases in which the accusers are still minors. they are in the initial stages of their investigation. the two new cases were reported less than 60 days and are not included in the grand jury report. a lawyer for the former coach says one of the allegations was made by a member of sandusky's family. sandusky is charged with 40 counts of sex crimes against boys. he's currently out on bail and

faces a preliminary hearing on december the 13th. back to you. >> thank you. all of the other young men who have come forward in this case are now over the age of 18. a pilot's brush with death is caught on tape when his helicopter crashes into a holiday display in new zealand. the chopper was setting up a huge christmas tree when it became tangled in some of the cables. workers on the ground rushed to pull that pilot from the wreckage. he was shaken up but otherwise okay. investigators are reviewing the video to find out what exactly went wrong. >> unbelievable. their story has captivated the world. now, the parents of missing british toddler madeleine mccann are venting their anger at the press. the mccanns are testifying in an investigation into media ethics in london. >> reporter: kate and jerry mccann told a british judge the media invaded their privacy and

made the search for their daughter madeleine unavailable. >> we were shouting out please stop what you're doing. we're trying to find our daughter. >> reporter: the mccanns say at first, the press was helpful, showing photos of their 4-year- old, abducted at the family's vacation villa in portugal in 2007. but soon, they say the tabloids shifted blame on them and even made stories up, printing headlines full of lies. >> the front page of the daily media with a photograph of madeleine with the headline she's dead. >> reporter: kate mccann says she felt quote mentally raped when the news of the world published part of her private diary, which described her feelings after madeleine's disappearance. >> i felt totally violated. i had written these words at the most desperate time of my life. >> it was the phone hacking scandal that triggered the ethics hearing now underway

lunch, dinner. >> reporter: she writes everything down to make sure she doesn't take the wrong dose. >> you really have to watch it. it can get a little complicated. >> reporter: a new study from the centers for disease control finds that each year, nearly 100,000 adults over 65 end up in the emergency room because of the wrong combination or dose of their medications. doctors say the mixups can lead to everything from allergic reactions to unintentional overdoses. >> elderly patients are usually taking multiple medications that sometimes interact with each other and many of these patients end up in the hospital where other problems with develop. >> the study found that most of the emergency hospitalizations were due to a few commonly used drugs, mainly blood thinners and diabetes medications. >> reporter: nearly half of those emergency visits were for patients 80 or older. they need to stay informed about the meds they're taking

a bang robbery turns into a pink explosion in california. police are searching for the pair of men who managed to ditch a dye pack moments before it exploded. the men walked up to a teller, demanded money, the teller handed over a bag of money that

also included a dye pack. the men found the dye pack and threw it into the bushes. police are still searching for those suspects. cheating on college entrance exams. the investigation into an s.a.t. scam in new york is growing as more students turn themselves in. kristin thorne reports for wjz with details. >> reporter: three young men now facing felony charges and jail time. prosecutors say they impersonated students taking the s.a.t. and in exchange, were paid huge sums of money. >> do you want to say anything to your family? >> reporter: and then one by one, at least seven other students surrendered. >> why are you hiding your face? >> reporter: sources tell cbs two that these students, the ones hiding their faces, are being charged misdemeanors for allegedly paying for the impostors to take the test for them. attorney melvin ross says his client, a 17-year-old boy,
