tonight. prosecutors are working on an emergency appeal. and if that fails, he will be free tuesday night at the earliest. >> reporter: after more than 100 days in an aruban jail, gary giordano can be a free man. investigators have not made enough progress in the disappearance of his loved one, robyn gardner. >> when i started asking him about his release, he started to cry. >> reporter: giorda -- giordano disappeared while snorkeling. her body was never found. she also has a boyfriend here in maryland who believes that giordano knows where she is. >> i hope that if he is released, somebody is waiting to pick him up here on the u.s. side. >> reporter: the u.s. department still has an open investigation into giordano. and they did raid his home in montgomery county. >> the investigation includes

salacious details about giordano's swinger lifestyle. >> with our constitution, laws are probably better for him in this country than in aruba. >> gardner's boyfriend still believes that she is still alive until someone shows him proof that she's not. >> that would be giving up. and i'm not going to do that. i know she wouldn't give up on me. >> reporter: giordano has now been in jail in aruba for 112 days. he has always maintained his innocence. kai, back to you. >> the mother of natalee holloway has been helping in the search for gardner. her daughter natalee disappeared and was never found. anthony stokley was shot after investigators say he refused to drop his weapons. it happened wednesday on edmondson avenue on dennison street, near gwynn falls park.

officers arrived on the scene. that's when they say they found the 52-year-old holding two long kitchen knives. after refusing to stop them, they shot him in the abdomen. >> the officer has been placed on routine administrative leave, pending the outcome of the investigation. a missing maryland toddler is found safe. baltimore city police say a 4- year-old was found unharmed this morning in the 1700 block of west north avenue. she had been missing from her home on tiveelli avenue since tuesday. police say a babysitter failed to return the baby to her parents. no charges have been filed. shopping season kicks off. wjz is live at towson center. weijia jiang has the latest on the hunt for holiday sales. >> reporter: and the crowds have been steady all day long.

welcome back to eyewitness news. we're looking at temperatures closer to our record highs than our normal highs. 70 degrees is where we topped

out. although it is a little bit chilly if you were stand out there before the sun came up. if you were out there shopping and doing the power walking from the parking lot to your malls, definitely the temperatures cooperated. 72 degrees now. daytime high. that's the official daytime high. 53 is our regular high for this time of year. our average, we should say. and the record was 75. so we got closer to the record than we did the average. our temperatures around the state right now, 46 degrees in oakland. 47 on the shore. 52 in elkton. 57 in d.c. around the immediate metro area. 51. then we have mid-50s to upper 50s from annapolis to kent island to columbia. the winds have been coming in from the south and southwest, bringing us a nice, mild air flow around the region. high pressure in control just around south carolina. it's placing us on the western edge. western/southwestern edge of this air. the flow around that is tapping into mild air. 63 degrees now in memphis. 62 in atlanta. and that's the direction our flow is coming from.

we're going to have the same direction of winds coming in over the next few days or so. at least through sunday. then we're going to start to watch for this development of showers and storms, moving in just across the rockies and over the mountains. moving into our region. we'll start to see the clouds on sunday afternoon. and then, as we get closer to sunday night into monday, we'll start to see a better chance for rain. but this is our forecast for saturday and the better part of sunday before we start to see the changeover. warmer air means we stay in the 60- to 70-degree range for tomorrow. and sunday, the rain comes in. and after this front associated with this rain comes through, we'll start to see a real drastic change coming in. heading into next week. it's going to feel like fall again. sunrise tomorrow is 7:02. with a south wind on the bay at 5 to 10 knots. no advisories. mainly clear and mild for november. 68 degrees for tomorrow. mostly, seasonably warm tomorrow. we'll call it 70 degrees with a touch of sun.

good evening. thank you for staying with wjz. here are some of the stories people are talking about tonight. a short time ago, three american students being held in egypt were set free. and they may already be on a plane, heading back to the united states. they were arrested for protesting the interim government. but as danielle nottingham reports for wjz, thousands of protestors are calling for an immediate transition to a civilian government. the three american students could be home. they were finally set free late friday, once authorities finished processing them. >> all of these prayers that are coming our way have been answered. have truly been answered. we couldn't feel more blessed. >> the students were arrested earlier in the week, amid the growing chaos on the streets of cairo.

more than 100,000 protestors flooded tarear square friday, renewing their call for the military council to step down. an ambulance fought its way through the massive crowd, as tensions rise ahead of monday's parliamentary election. demonstrators are rejecting the decision to appoint a new prime minister who was an ousted member of hosni mubarak's regime. >> calling for a quick transition to democracy in egypt. the obama administration once against pledged his support to the civilian protestors. >> reporter: so far, the week- long uprisings have left at least 40,000 dead and thousands injured. friday's demonstration is the biggest since the current showdown began with egypt's army. the ruling generals who still refused to lease power promised a new parliament will start

friday, despite the unrest. in washington, danielle nottingham, wjz eyewitness news. >> once the election is new, parliament is complete. egyptians will cast ballots. a group of people standing in a parking lot, in front of the hyattsville store were struck by a car. 41-year-old freddie castillos heron was killed. police say the 17-year-old driver had a medical emergency and blacked out. his name is not being released because he is not charged. >> we'll be right back. like -- disabilities, like rafael, to teens like this know wo. >> incredibly excited. >> proud. and very well accomplished. >> reporter: nominated by their teachers for the positions, their job is to talk to festival goers about their school, where each student picks an industry focus to help them after they graduate. in building class, rafael said he would have a hard time in any other environment. >> under pressure. and being confused. and unable to adapt to professional environment. >> reporter: with a focus in horticulture, georgey has learned a lot about herself. >> it's okay to ask for help. and there's nothing wrong with admitting there is something wrong with you. >> reporter: last year, the festival brought in a million dollars, part of which goes to help the high school. this year, they hope to top it. and by seeing the faces the festival helps, they may just pass a $1 million mark.

regular season games. stacking up pretty nicely for that ravens super bowl run. what started as a super bowl season for detroit. the league says it will wait until next week to review sue's attack on evan detrix yesterday. sue was ejected from the game and offered a plea of innocence afterwards. >> because of the type of player and type of person i am, all eyes are on me. so why would i do something to jeopardize might and my team, first and foremost. with that, that's why i don't do bad things. and i have no intention to hurt somebody. if i want to hurt him, i'm going to hit his quarterback, which i did previously in that game. >> he has received multiple fines. and just last week, he met with commissioner roger goodell to discuss his on-field conduct. taking to this. they jumped to a lead.
