5:19 pm
5:20 pm
5:21 pm
welcome back, everybody. we still have the rain outside. let's start with first warning doppler radar. we're going to take you in on a few areas where we're seeing heavy rain. and this band down in here was thunderstorms. a couple of rounds of thunder on the southern fringe as it moves off to the east. and you can see already a few rounds of rain over the last few hours. and almost finished with the heaviest but we still expect a few showers and drizzle through the evening. now still rain around for baltimore, annapolis, chestertown, picking up once again with that band coming your way.
5:22 pm
and northeast up 95, you can see bel air, all of that is moving through cecil county and then up into pennsylvania. so we'll switch it over and show you earlier today we had the clouds in place, giving way to rain. a little bit of mix briefly. but the heaviest moving out of maryland and then we wrap up the storm overnight. winds out of the south and a warm wind today but they are going to turn to the northwest and become the second part of the storm and become gusty, bringing in colder air. because of that, a winter weather advisory in effect tomorrow with snow out west in the mountains. for the rest of us, we'll not dealing with that. just the gusty wind. and before we see the wind turn around, it is still out of the south. and combine that with the heavy rain and we have coastal flood advisories in effect until 1:00 a.m. as far as temperatures, 53 here. 30s farther west. and but out ahead of the thunderstorms, still 50s for eastern shore. up to 54 for the high. starting out at 31. the average is 43 and that is
5:23 pm
the kind of air coming our way, more seasonable air. and it is behind this storm right in here. so this is going to leave us for tomorrow. and the winds will kick up out of the northwest. wind gusts up to 40 miles per hour but it is a cooler wind. and the reason the winds are going to get so high is because of the center of the storm is still intensifying and gaining strength and as it races off to the northeast, for us that translates into wind. now here is how it comes together, things calm down on thursday and temperatures climbing through the second half of the week and into the weekend. there could be a few showers with this front right in here friday into saturday. so the forecast is like this, tonight the heavy rain coming to an end and winds picking up, clearing skies, 37 for the low. and then tomorrow up to 43. so much cooler than today but that is pretty much our average so nothing all that extreme. we will see a lot -- well we don't see wind. we are going to feel a lot of wind tomorrow, gusts up to 40 mile-per-hour and that will be the big thing tomorrow.
