with killing his father. good afternoon, here is what people are talking about today, a murder in hartford county and now the 16-year-old charged with killing his dad prepares to stand before a judge. wjz and weijia jiang are live with more. >> reporter: good afternoon. >> reporter: good afternoon. that teen's bail review is scheduled to start in just about an hour. for now he is held at the heart ford county detention center on no bond. 16-year-old robert richardson the third remains in police custody after he confessed to killing his 58- year-old father then dumping the body into a pond. investigators were called to the family home on the 800 block of moors mill road late monday night. >> for the report of what was believed to be a domestic disturbance possibly involving a witness, someone had contacted us and said they believed the son had harmed the father. >> charging documents reveal the caller was his sister, who learned of the murder when he called her to say hoe shot their dad. he also said he was driving

around looking for someone to dispose the body. >> he went to turn into the parking lot and didn't make it. >> he crashed after leading police on a chase. that is when he admitted to the shooting and told police the body was in a pond behind his uncle's house. >> my motherly instinct told me something was wrong. he would scream and curse and horribly verbally abusive. >> homicide detectives has not confirmed a motive for a scream that has shaken the community. >> it is 6. i have lived 40 years around here. >> we just hope and pray that things aren't going on in people's home like that. >> richardson has been charged as an adult because of the severity of the crime and he faces several charges, including first degree murder.

reporting live weijia jiang, wjz eyewitness news. >> richardson is a student at c millton wright high school in belaire. a trail is underway for a inmate charged with murdering a correctional officer 5 years ago. leave stevens is accused in the stabbing of david mcquinn in 2006. his death was a deciding factor in closing the old facility. stevens faces the death penalty. a laurel man accused of trying to join a terrorist group is also due in court. 24-year-old craig beauxum was arrested. he was stopped in kenya before he could reach somalia, he faces up to 15 years if convicted. alleges of animal abuse land a man in jail in baltimore county. police say gary wallace threw a yorkshire terrier off the balcony.

a murder case that has been made international headlines comes to a close today, joran van der sloot from aruba pleads guilty to the murder of a young woman in peru, her body found five years of the day of the disappearance of natalee holloway. he was the prime suspect but never charged in that case. he faces up to 30 years in lima. an indiana woman gets creative after she feels her son got off too lightly after breaking the law. >> they only give him a few hours of community service so i decided that we were going to wear signs says you looking for attention we are going to get you attention. >> yeah, she made her 14-year- old stand on a corner with a sign explaining what he did. that scene prompted motorists to call police on the mother. officers say the punishment is unorthodox but completely legal. in california police are

investigating a dangerous accident that nearly cost a driver his life. police say a metal bar came off another vehicle and slammed through the windshield. amazingly the rim of his steering wheel stopped the bar before it struck him. he was treated for minory injuries, police are still looking for the other vehicle. a major food company is filing for bankruptcy this noon, hostess, which makes twinkies, is seeking bankruptcy protection, it is reportedly more than 900 million in debt. the are blaming pension and medical benefit obligations and increased market competition as well as the increased cost of raw materials. you could say first lady michelle obama was doing damage control this morning when she sat down with the cbs morning crew and gayle king and talked about reports of tensions between her, the president and high level staffers. >> this the white house. there is a lot that goes on here and i am sure there is a

now your weather. >> welcome back, everybody. this shot has certainly changed since this morning. it is cloudy wall to wall and some parts of the state it is already raining. it is making its way into annapolis and the eastern shore and western parts getting in on the rain as well. so let's switch it over and show you. overnight partly cloudy skies, beautiful sunshine this morning but quickly the clouds take over and here is the rain. as far as temperatures go the wind was are going to keep temperatures above average. we are already at 46. 48 there. but we are not going up that much more because of the storm moving in. take a look. there is cooler air out west.

those temperatures are going up before they go back down again and they are going down behind the storm. here is the first part with the rain. it has picked up moisture across the south. here is the second part up to the northwest. that has the cold air behind it. so we deal with that one first. we get that rain heavy at times tonight and tomorrow. then it gets out of here. behind it tomorrow night into friday that second part comes through. there is a chance for snow showers with it and etch during the day on friday look. we have got all these lines so tight together that indicates the winds are up and there is a chance for snow showers. as far as temperatures go mild coast to coast but you notice the arctic air is coming down from the north and going to spread eastward as that front passes by so it is coming our direction in time for the weekend. forecast for today 49 degrees, the rain will be arriving, then heavy at times
