hundreds of videos obtained through a public records request show collisions involving metro buses. metro says its drivers have an exceptional safety record. new information about the subway accident that trapped a man in a wheelchair on the tracks. skyeye chopper 13 was first on the scene as a man was rushed from the scene into an ambulance. the nt a -- the mta believes the 46-year-old lost vol of his motorized wheelchair and fell onto the tracks. they think he may have fallen asleep. a high school sophomore admits to killing his father and dumping the body. at a school in bel air, harford county, classmates are stunned. >> reporter: a judge ordered 16- year-old robert richardson iii be held without bail on charges he killed his 58-year-old father. as the teen sints jail,

classmates at milton wright high school are distraught. >> i feel bad for him because they definitely don't know the real story. >> students say word is barreling through the hallways that richardson confided in several friends he was abused at home. >> he couldn't resort to anything else because he had tried to get help before. >> reporter: neighbors of the family say they believe richardson was driven to the edge of a longtime conflict between father and son. they say the victim often had fits of rage at the home where the fatal shooting happened. sheriffs reports show in the past six months officers responded to the house a dozen times, but police say none of the calls were for domestic violence. twice richardson was reported missing. in december, he ran away for five days. >> he had an opportunity at the time to speak with the deputy, and explain why he had left the home and what he explained was he had left the home because he had been in trouble earlier in the day with law enforcement. >> reporter: in fact, there are

two juvenile cases pending against richardson for breaking and entering and drug possession, and now he's charged as an adult with murder. a preliminary trial for richardson is scheduled for next week. weijia jiang, wjz eyewitness news. >> because richardson's confession was videotaped he could be he will imibl for the death penalty. a cruise ship employee accused of a sex crime on a ship that sailed out of baltimore. 25-year-old fabian palmer, an employee of royal caribbean is charged with sex abuse of a minor. court records show palmer had sex with a 14-year-old girl in a locker room aboard the ship. he admits he had sex with the girl but says she claimed to be 16. a warning from the baltimore health department. a confirmed outbreak at scarlet fever at one citily school. doctors sites extremely contagious in children. wjz is live. kai jackson explains. >> reporter: a doctor tells eyewitness news that scarlet fever is typically treated with

antibiotics. meantime, the school that was affected is sanitizing the area that was exposed. the city school system tells eyewitness news three students in the same class at george washington elementary in southwest baltimore contracted scarlet fever, a hail contagious bacterial infection. it prompted the school system to send this letter to parents and guardians. >> if we hear that a case of scarlet fever even happened is that unusual? >> no, absolutely not. it's actually common with this time of the year we're seeing multiple kids with sore throats, strep throat, and or scarlet fever. >> reporter: scarlet fever is a rash caused by the strep to caucus bacteria. symptoms include rash on the neck and chest, high fever, sore throat, and swollen he glands. doctors say scarlet fever is actually strep throat with a fever and the rash. >> when you have strep throat, you basically have the strep, the bacteria in your throat, and sometimes the bacteria

produces some toxins in the body that will trigger this rash on the skin, then we just call it scarlet fever. >> the bacteria is spread from person to person contact, and by respiratory secessions like sneezing or coughing. doctors say while scarlet fever is highly contagious, it's also very treatable, most often with antibiotics. in the letter, parents of students at the school are urged to contact their medical provider if a child has symptoms. doctors tell us the students can return to school as long as they've been on antibiotics for 24 hours and if they haven't had a fever for 24 hours unassisted by a fever reducer. back to you. >> kai, thank you. the school system tells eyewitness news they're working to sanitize the building by cleaning all surfaces and handrails. >> monday the nation honors the legacy of dr. martin luther king jr. and baltd more city is ready to celebrate. the only wall mlk parade will march through town. the theme this year is ask me

it is 52 degrees and cloudy in central maryland. the complete first warning forecast is coming up. cleanup is underway in the western part of north carolina after a rare janitor neighed dough strikes. the national weather service confirmed it was an ef-2, and winds reached 115 miles per hour. at least 15 people were injured. over a dozen homes were completely destroyed and 50 more suffered major damage. the parents of natalee holloway say one chapter is now closed but they're still searching for justice there. dead after disappearing in aruba nearly six years ago. the main suspect in the case will be sentenced tomorrow in peru for murdering a woman in 2010. he is also wanted in the u.s. for trying to extort money from the holloways. television viewers in mexico were watching the delivery of a human heart when a major mishap occurred. all of a sudden the heart fell out of the cooler and onto the street. they quickly recovered it and continued on their way. the transplant operation was a total success. in tonight's wjz healthwatch your morning orange juice is now under increased scrutiny. this comes after coca-cola alerted the fda to a low level of a funk i -- of a fungicide in its juice. no recalls have been ordered.

it is at a low level. a ban has temporarily been placed on import oranges. a fourth grader's science report causes a panic at one school in oklahoma. romeo cox says he wrote about an experiment he saw during an after-school program. it consisted of make bottle explode by mixing baking soda and vinegar. the school thought the report contained dangerous information. they disciplined romeo and filed a police report. >> the teacher called me and said that he wrote a report on how to make a pressure bomb, and that they called the police to come and deal with the situation. >> i don't really know. i'm confused. i don't know why i'm in trouble. >> the school says they stand by their decision because the students and staff were put at rink by the report. romeo's parents say they will enroll hip in another school. baltimore is getting game ready for the ravens' first home playoff matchup in five years. wjz is your home for playoff

showers. still at 52 degrees, winds still at 7, the barometer has been going down because it's pulsing in from the west. it will get cold enough for snow probably 2:00, 3:00 tin mortgage. that could accumulate from frostburg west, four, five, six, seven, eight to ten inches over the next day or so. it will be windy, almost near blizzard conditions could be occurring. some of those higher mountain areas far western maryland. cumberland, probably just a few flurries. 45 hagerstown, 53 patuxent, 53 in ocean city. do not expect to see any frozen precip in the baltimore metro. north and west of us, maybe 2:00, 3:00, 4:00 in the morning could be some snowflakes briefly. 47 in westminster, 54 down in annapolis. 57 and 44 today. the average is 41 and 24, and the record 70 and 1. right now we still have that southwest wind late tonight after 2:00 in the morning. it will go back to the west.

that's when that front comes through and temperatures will start heading down. it's been snowing over the chicago area, milwaukee, much of southern and central illinois as well. further east, a little warmer, some rain shower activity. that's what's moving up in our direction so we'll see some rain showers later on this evening as the front comes through, most of the rain, the precip will cut out expect for far western maryland, where we'll start seeing that lake effect kick in as the colder air comes across the lake, that's when we expect to see it. on saturday night and sunday a second shot of colder air. tomorrow generally around normal, but it will be colder saturday and into sunday. so sunday, heading out to the game, and 32, 33 degrees with sunshine, but still breezy on sunday. west winds gusting as high as 35 knots tomorrow, maybe a gale warning on the bay on friday. so tonight, some shower activity, staying in the upper 30s. it may rain for a few hours later on tonight. breezy or windy tomorrow,
