proud. bob is live with the latest numbers. >> yes, a big drop in temperatures with 36 now. oakland at 17 degrees right now. 41 in ocean city, 28 in cumberland, 32 up in elkton. dewpoint way down to 14 degrees right now. as you can see, so a big drop in the temperature around the region. we still have strong winds and also a winter weather advisory. a couple of inches already on the ground and it's blowing around as well around our region now, the winds did come down. we had winds up to 48 miles per hour earlier. in oakland snow still going on, 58-mile-per-hour winds. reaching gusts up to 32. 41 at pax river. our last hour we had a wind gust at 30 miles per hour. now tonight the wind is going to die down some what. but temperatures are also going

after the game for the seasons pizza postgame show. mark viviano, stan saunders and i will bring you the highlights and reaction right after the game. van der sloot is sentenced in peru for the murder of a young woman. alex demetric has the story. >> reporter: a judge ordered van der sloot to 48 years in prison. the court also ordered van der sloot to pay $75,000 to florez family. under peru's penal system, van der sloot could be out on parol. hear from natalie holloway's family on their

it's unclear what happened but two people suffered minor injuries. downtown rescue was free a driver who's car is trapped under a semi truck. that accident happened on sharp. firefighters used hydraulic tools to get to the trapped victim. the man was rushed to shock trauma. at this time his condition is unknown. let's get a first check at the roads. here's christie bersland with the check of the roads. >> reporter: we start with some delays out there on northbound i95. heavy traffic there from the split up white marsh boulevard. the topside outer loop heavy there from delanie to the harrisburg expressway about 15 minutes to get through. we're looking at 20 minutes at least on the west side interloop from 95 over to security boulevard. as far as the west side outer loop goes expect to see some break lights there as you make your approach to baltimore national park. very heavy to marysville road. as far as accidents go,

a disgruntal employee opens fire at a lumber company killing three people. 50-year-old ronald davis shot three of his coworkers with a shotgun. he killed three of them and critically injured another. davis went home after the rampage and shot himself in the head leaving hit critically wounded. police say he left a note but have not revealed what he said. a soccer player is gunned downright outside his home. the 17-year-old is a senior for his high school and goalie for his soccer team. his mother says he opened the door, stepped outside and she heard random gunshots. police have not made any arrests in the case.

in today's health watch, does your baby have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep? most parents think sleep issues are a part of the infancy that will soon pass. but allyson explains a new study says differently. >> reporter: christian morrel hasn't had a good night sleep in years. >> he will only get a few hours of sleep. he'll be tossing and crying and whining. >> reporter: and christian is not alone. a high percentage of babys have trouble sleeping at night. they also found that even by age 3. 21% of babies were still not getting a good night's rest. >> if you have a child six months of age they were three

times likely to have persistent sleep problems. >> reporter: surprisingly many parents didn't consider snoring something to be concerned about. >> a lot of people equate snoring with getting a good quality sleep but that's actually a sign there's turbulence in the way that child breathes. so that needs to be checked out. >> reporter: it turns out that was daniel's problem. >> the sun will wake him up at times. >> reporter: he was suffering from sleep apnea, his tonsils were removed and he has breathing tubes. >> he can go longer without needing rest. pediatricians say any significant changes in a child's behavior, learning capacity or mood swings can all be signs that your child may not be getting good quality sleep at night. well, can wall street end the week on a high note?

concerns in europe dragged the markets down. the dow is down 49, s & p6. nasdaq is off 14. alexis christoforous has today's money watch news. >> reporter: a new government report shows u.s. exports to europe sank in november as european companies pulled back on spending. a weakening europe can further slow the u.s. economy just as the job market is starting to rebound. stocks were under pressure on worries that standard and poors will downgrade the grading of european governments. a rare earnings miss for j & p chase. fell 23%, hit by big losses from it's investment banking

morning. let's take a look at temps right now around the region. 37 now actually has come up a little bit. dewpoints way down to 14 degrees. humidity 38%, southwest winds -- to be honest with you this cold air actually went down south and came back out. didn't come directly across the great lakes. what was much colder, the barometer on the way back up again 29.74-inches. oakland at 17. it's still snowing. could pick up another inch or two tonight. they have generally two to four inches on the ground out there. there'll be great skiing, they'll be making snow already. if you're heading out there it's going to be cold this weekend. but there will be skiing. 41 over in ocean city. 30 up in hagerstown. these areas north of town tonight will get down into the

upper teens and low 20s. the wind will be diminishing tonight so we won't be dealing with the strong winds you saw today. we saw winds up to 38 miles per hour at the airport earlier today. big plow pressure that came in -- big low pressure that came from texas. it's still moving up to our north away from our region. wind are really come around this way. it was colder down here than it was up here because that cold air went a long way up to our area. this is all lake effect snows, some spots erie, cleveland area could see two to three feet. maybe another inch of two tonight and tomorrow. cold air remains in the region. over the weekend another shot of cold air coming down saturday night. so kind of reinforcement cold on sunday. west winds coming down on the bay at 10 to 15. the bay temp around 41. so tonight yeah, clear, cold, breezy. 25 which is still above

sarah ferguson put on a black wig and snuck into an orphanage. a conviction could mean up to 22 years in prison. >> britain doesn't have an extradition policy with turkey but the turks are pressing scotland yard to help build a case against the dutchess. fergie hasn't commented but friends say she will be furious. >> sarah will be upset, outraged that the turkey authorities will blame her for something they have done. >> reporter: this is not the first time a video tape landed the dutchess in trouble. this time the british press is siting with fergie. portraying her as a mother and

the head of the arab lead warns syria may be headed to civil war. ten people were killed in recent months, break away soldiers have attacked the syrian military. the government blames terrorists while the opposition suggests the regime is responsible for the violence. the u.n. estimates 150,000 people have been killed since the uprising began last year. edwards' doctor told a judge presiding over his case in court today. prosecutors believe the excandidate received $1 million to help hide his pregnant mistress during his run for the

identified by that terrible tragedy. a judge has made the death of natalie holloway official. today the main suspect in her disappearance was sentenced to 28 years in prison for the murder of another woman in peru. police arrest a man linked to a bomb scare at an arkansas bank. paul bradley is suspected of forcing a 73-year-old woman to withdraw money with a bomb strapped to her ankle. the woman remembered his license plate number and officers were able to track him down. she says bradley broke into her house, held her and her husband captive and then forced her to go to the bank. police later determined the device was not explosive. san francisco woman is under arrest because police say she bit two children at a

bookstore. amy days has more on what happened in california. >> reporter: downtown mountain view is where a lot of people hang out and there was an incident inside a bookstore. >> one of the employees ran to me and said, there's great trouble down there. >> reporter: sinatra anaya is one of the owners of the bookstore. he didn't see the actual encounter but was there when it happened. >> some other woman came up to the lady's little girl and then the girl started running to her mother saying that woman bit me. she had a red welt on her cheek. >> reporter: while the mother was tending to the daughter. >> suddenly the little boy who's just a couple of months old started screaming, and they went to him and his cheek was bleeding. >> reporter: the woman ran out of store but ran out of the

bookstore. she was caught later because of a vigilant witness. >> it's the first time an attack has ever happened in their store. fists start flying in a courthouse in georgia and it's all caught on tape. you can see the large group rushing together as two families starting fighting in the hall way. the fight broke out during a murder hearing. seven people are facing charges. a kidnapped toddler is found in a stolen suv in houston texas. the 18 -month-old boy and seven year old cousin were left inside a jeep. she was only gone for a few minutes but someone carjacked the jeep with the toddler still inside. the boy was found safe in his car seat and the abandoned vehicle. police are looking for suspects. caught on camera, a young woman fights back as she's beaten and robbed in the lobby of her own apartment building. juan hernandez reports from california on this dramatic

incident. >> reporter: watch what happened to 18-year-old jane santamaria sunday night when she came home from the store. a man followed her into her apartment building on westmoreland and tried to steal her purse. but santa maria didn't have it. she fought back. >> i didn't think about nothing, it was just in the moment. >> reporter: were you worried for your safety? >> not really, i wasn't thinking at that moment. my mind went blank. >> reporter: santa maria went after the man who then turns around and begins to beat her begin. he didn't take her purse but he did take her phone. >> i was trying to get my phone but i thought,i guess that's it. i covered my face, i said not my face. >> reporter: while santa maria fought back detectives don't recommend it. >> in a case like this we recommend victims give up the

here's a live look outside right now as the sun starts setting thanks to sky chopper 13. and it is chilly out there. >> you can see for miles today. to the west of us 145 miles west of us it's been snowing most of the day. and they have any where from two to 5 inches of snow in far western maryland. there you go. nice shot. we're out in grandsville. route68 at 219 which heads down toward oakland. you see the snow but the road is in great shape. despite the fact that it's been

blowing and the temperatures there in the low teens. and even colder in some spots. so there's winter out there in far western maryland. around here it's a lot warmer but still chilly at 37. yesterday afternoon at this exact time, we were around 54 degrees. west southwest winds 17, the barometer going back up 29.74- inches. right now 12, 12 degrees in oakland. they'll get down to five or six above zero tonight. 27 cumberland. locally 41 in the area. it does keep it warmer this time of year than areas around the bay. 53, 32 today. now the 53 was little after midnight today. but that front that just came through around 2:00,
