in peru. baltimore are searching for the person who torched two cameras in three days. andrea fujii has the investigation and the growing anger over speed cameras. andrea? >> reporter: showing tickets to anyone going 40 miles or more above the speed limit. and many people don't like them. they're meant to catch speeders, mobile cameras like this, but also spark outrage which may have caused someone to light two of them on fire. >> we want people to know that if you do plan to damage any cameras, you will be held fully responsible. >> reporter: those incidents happened on wednesday morning and the other on friday. investigators now have both cameras, but the burn marks are

still visible. police say some type of accelerant was used to light the boxes. it's not clear how much damage was done to them, but we're told they will be replaced. this isn't the first act of violence towards speed cameras. in july, a man attacked a state speed camera vehicle on the vw parkway with its operator still inside. residents rally to have their cameras removed. in t city, drivers have mixed feelings on them! they're annoying, but you're not supposed to be speeding. >> i'm not happy with it. it's just another way to raise money. >> reporter: data shows the cameras are working. >> right now we do see a decrease. it is changing driver behavior. >> reporter: and there are eight of those mobile speed cameras around the city rotating between 65 different locations, mainly school zones.

reporting live in north baltimore at wjz, andrea fujii, wjz news >> for a complete list, log on to our web site at wjz.com. vandalism this time is the target of parked cars near the city line. police don't know who did it or why. charges are on hold in a christmas parade scuffle between frosty the snowman and police. 52-year-old kevin walsh is accused of assaulting an officer and kicking his police dog at a parade. the charges being clayed while walsh has a mental health evolution. he's been ordered to stay away from the home of that police officer. new alarming information at a baltimore city school. gigi barnett explains how the health department is taking action to stop the spread. >> reporter: overnight, city school workers scrubbed the

walls, desks, and chairs in southwest baltimore. this is after several students contracted scarlet fever. >> we received a call from one of the parents of the children and notified that the doctor stated it. i immediately call my supervisors. >> reporter: after that, school leaders sent a letter home to parents. all the students infected in the same class. then the school scrubdown began. hand sanitizer flows freely now and teachers keep an eye out for symptoms. >> check them out, listen to them for symptoms. >> reporter: high fever, sore throat, and swollen glands and it spreads quickly among children. >> they're little kids. little kids are known to spread germs to everybody. >> reporter: with the city health's department, said the

contagious bacteria that causes scarlet fever is common as strep throat. only about 11 students stayed home today. they say it's safe to come back to school. >> i want to sort of dispel the myth that this is some sort of widespread infection. it is just as normal as any other school day here. >> reporter: doctors say scarlet fever is easily treatable but parents much catch it early. in south baltimore, i'm gigi barnett, wjz news. >> go to a doctor immediately if any symptoms show up. animal officers are trying to find a small goat with a heavy chain embedded into its neck. nicknamed tuscany, found by an 11-year-old girl. the 23-pound chain had to be

it's 49 degrees and clear in central maryland right now. the complete forecast is coming up. the car dangles off a bridge. a 36-year-old woman and two young daughters trapped inside. a tractor trailer crashed into the car before it went off the bridge. the driver of the semi was killed. the woman and the daughter where is expected to be okay.

firefighters in massachusetts battle high winds as the fire spreads from house to house. officials in paul rivers said it started on the porch of one home. the flames could be seen for miles. two people were inside and able to escape. the cause of the fire is under investigation. a group development in the search for a missing montana teacher was last seen saturday morning before she went for a run. hundreds of people in the search of the popular teacher. the tip led them to detain a 47- year-old man in north dakota and questioning another man in south dakota. the death of caylee anthony shocked people. now her close is coming to maryland. a bill is being introduced as caylee's law. >> reporter: since she was found innocent, casey anthony made headlines with a video

15 to 16 miles per hour. five in washington, but it's been a breezy day. that's for sure. wind gusts got up to 38 miles per hour this afternoon. snow across northern p.a. and michigan, ports of illinois and even west virginia there. a few flurries are left over. the snow is really diminished. another front from the north is going to come with a few clouds with it. no precip, but it will actually reenforce this chilly air so it stays cold in the weekend but immediately following the cold air, the wind goes back to the west/southwest and more air comes back. monday and tuesday at least. west winds 10 to 15 and today, the big around 40 degrees. it will be clear to partly cloudy. still breezy and colder than last night. 25, maybe 20 in the suburbs.
