nightmare on the high sea. a cruise ship sinks, after striking rocks. tonight, inside the chaos on board. >> amazing video from the scene. good morning, everybody. thanks for joining us. three people are dead. dozens more missing. and right now, divers are expecting it. adam, that train gear reports for wjz tonight, that more than 100 americans were on board. >> a luxury cruise liner is floating off its side, off the coast of italy, as rescue crews search the water for victims. the costa concordia started to tip over friday night after it ran aground near shallow water. the impact ripped a 160-foot garb in -- gash in its hull. >> they said everything was fine. obviously, it's not fine. >> reporter: survivors say moments after the crash, everything was disorganized.

>> then we had to black out. and everybody was just screaming out. all of the passengers were running up and down. >> reporter: passengers say the crew waited so long, that not all of the life boats had been flipped over. some of the survivors say they had to fight off a life vest. >> i wanted to get further away, so if it comes, it doesn't trap us. so i started kick, kick, kick, swim, swim. >> reporter: saturday morning, ferries brought help, where they got warm drinks and blankets. rescue crews went on board the ship to make sure all passengers and crew were off. and divers searched the submerged area for victims. they say they will continue their search until everyone is accounted for. in rome, italy, anna metranga, wjz eyewitness news. >> investigators say they can't

say how many people are missing now. they estimate 146 americans were on board that cruise. a man involved in a series of butt slashings in virginia. johnny gillian, known as the butt cutter was captured friday in lima. he was accused of cutting the buttocks of 13 women while in fairfax county last year. a fire burned through the woods of the garrison woods complex. today's fire was put out pretty quickly. but the building did sustain some smoke and water damage. the plea for more jobs is at the center of a march from maryland at the nation's capital this weekend. tonight, dem strearm -- demonstrators say their message is aimed right at capitol hill. >> reporter: inside union baptist church in west baltimore, there are prayers for a tough task ahead.

>> we must because we are called to address the issues of injustice in our past. >> reporter: and that issue is jobs. this group is demanding more of them. so on this martin luther king holiday weekend, the group plans to take that message to lawmakers in washington, d.c. >> by foot. >> we are the 99%. >> reporter: we know they know -- >> we know that they know the problem exists. we think as we gather steam, they'll listen. >> reporter: the first stop is the old reed drug store, where the first lunch counter sit-in occurred in 1995. one of the morgan state students desegregated the store, which is now in danger of it being developed. she says these modern-day walkers are continuing her legacy. >> i think they are brave souls. and they are really the salvation of this country.

because if we don't do something about jobs and equal pay, we are going to be something other than what we are now. >> the three-day walk is 41 miles long. and demonstrators will end up in the nation's capital on monday, the official king holiday. i'm gigi barnett, wjz eyewitness news. >> and the members are from several different civil rights groups, including the baltimore southern christian leadership conference. and also, folks from occupy baltimore. we've got a big football game coming up tomorrow. and it certainly feels like football weather out there. a live look outside right now. a bit of a chill in the air. but we have been rain-free. let's see how that holds up. let's check in with bernadette woods. >> well, adam, yes. we all know it's definitely cooled down. this is what we're dealing with, as far as temperatures go. we are down into the 30s. and some people haven't even gotten out of the 30s today. and the winds have come down

since earlier today. but they are still a factor. and because of that, it feels like it's in the 20s in baltimore now. single digits in the mountain if you're heading out there for a ski vacation this holiday weekend. and even 30s down to the ocean. that sets up the big situation for tomorrow. a lot of people want to know what's going to happen for the weather for the game. and we will have that coming up in our forecast shortly here, adam. >> we'll certainly find out, bernadette. thank you so much. in less than 24 hours, the baltimore ravens will face the houston texans in the divisional round of the play- offs. it's a showdown for the first time in five years. and the excitement is really growing tonight. wjz is live out at the stadium. weijia jiang has more from excited fans and what this home play-off game means for the city. >> so many are out watching the play-off games to see how they're all going to play out. and that means a huge and much- needed shot in the arm for local businesses. >> and right nu, -- now, at

buffalo wild wings, it's just one of businesses we've talked to you throughout the day. people are out there eating, and they're ready to see who we're going to play when or if we win tomorrow. >> reporter: at buffalo wild wings in owings mills, the staff is bracing for a huge boom in business during sunday's game. so they're doing loads of prep work to get ready. >> tomorrow should be standing room only. all of the action sheets will be taken. be in the building. feeling the excitement of getting up. >> reporter: even though they're still counting down, ravens fans are already fired up, out watching the competition. >> get pumped. the pre-getting pumped for tomorrow. just because we're all big ravens fans over here. >> and that excitement leads to big spending. economists predict the massive games will bring in massive numbers with a dollar sign right in front. >> it's across the board. it's hotels, rest rants.

some pretty strong winds toppled this 50-ton billboard in new york city. the city hit a barrier. workers say they heard the bolts breaking, just moments before it fell. crews had to cut that sign up into small pieces to get it out there. nobody was hurt. but this did cause a minor gas leak at that garage. a french man leaving pennsylvania could be forced to leave the country, all because the u.s. government doesn't recognize his marriage. fred and his husband mark were married legally in the state of california when gay marriage was recognized there. but now, the two are split up. fredericks' final visa expires in september. and the federal government does not acknowledge people of the same sex. >> our children come first. we are a real family. and we have to stay together, no matter what. so if the government doesn't want me, unfortunately, we have

to expatriot and find a new country. new details on the search for missing toddler ala reynolds. her father, justin petro has taken a lie detector test, but the results have not been released. he said he put the 1-year-old to bed at 1:00, the night before. so far, investigators have checked rivers and creeks. a winter storm hammers portland, maine. check this out. we haven't had to do that around here for a while. the city there is digging out the more than eight inches of snow. clouds buried. officials say that parked cars there are usually put in place. but they're only inspecting three inches of snow. and instead, they got 8. 8 is not too bad. you can handle 8 inches.

34 in d.c. take a look at these temperatures. you also want to factor in the winds. and it feels even colder than the temperatures are. 25 is what it feels like in baltimore. 32 degrees down at the ocean. now, here's the arctic air, which has returned to the united states. you can see with the dark colors, it's only a small portion of the united states right now. it's been tracking from west to east. and it will be leaving us in the next day or so. however, for the game, it will be around tomorrow. also notice, though, a lot of lake-effect showers are going all along the great lakes. it's basically downstream on those eastern edges was lakes. now, for us, we've seen some snow and showers out to the west. starting to wind down. clouds spread eastward. but that's did it. tonight, cloud systems around. one system passes by. then tomorrow, clouds to start out the day. but that gives way to sunshine. and sunshine really does make a huge difference, doesn't it? even with the colder air. as we head into tuesday, the next storm moves our way. and temperatures are going to

move up before then. it is going to come in the form of rain. out on the waters, we do see small craft advisories picking up. they will be gusty at times today and tomorrow. so dress appropriately if you're heading down to the game. we'll start out the day in the 20s. right around game time. 33 degrees. kind of hanging off the picture there. partly sunny. for the rest of us, tonight, we're going down to 21 degrees. tomorrow, sunshine returns, once again, 35 for our high. and take a look at the next couple of days. it is chilly tomorrow. but we go back to 43 monday. clouds coming in. 53 tuesday, with that rain. and looks like that storm gets out of here on time for thursday. high of 45 degrees. >> not too shabby, bern. thanks. so do we want the broncos to pull in an upset tonight? is that what we're kind of pushing for here? >> we don't really care. was i supposed to say we? they don't really care. they are just concerned about
