>> winter wake-up. flurries finally arrive in maryland. >> we haven't seen that in a while. good evening, everyone. winter finally touches down in maryland for the first time this season. people are breaking out those shovels and salt. some freezing rain made the cleanup process a little tougher for some folks. and it was an early wake-up call for plow drivers. you can see this parking lot being cleared right before the sun came up in bel aire.

let's take a look outside at the conditions. the flurries have stopped falling but the cold temperatures are not going anywhere yet. bernadette woods is tracking conditions in the first warning weather season. but let's begin with weijia jiang. >> reporter: even though the snow has stopped falling, transportation authorities say this may be the most treacherous time. crews will be out for the rest of the night. the snowstorm of the year left an icy mess, from covered roads in bel aire... >> we have about 150 pieces of equipment throughout the night, all over the city and about 300 personnel. >> reporter: the plows are still out, but for drivers like

heath, the commute anywhere is brutal. >> people spinning out. crazy accidents. bad traffic. >> reporter: and it could get even worse. state highway crews are monitoring roads, anticipating a refreeze as temperatures drop. those many areas were pretreated and salted, anything left over could still turn to ice. >> we're still in full operation, because it's still hovering in the low 30's, which makes it dangerous. >> reporter: transportation officials are asking drivers to go slow, if at all. >> just gently pump the brakes if you have to, but try not to. >> be cautious of the roads, be cautious of the other people, and just try not to stay on the roads very long. >> reporter: and if you're at home doing as much as you can before nightfall, it could pay off in the morning. one of the biggest problems

transportation authorities say is there were flying projectiles getting into people's lines of sight. please just clear off your car before you go. reporting live, weijia jiang, eyewitness news. >> thanks so much. so can we expect any more snow? bernadette woods takes a look. >> we're going to start out with the radar. it changed over to a freezing rain and eventually ended up as rain for some of us. during those early morning hours, you're seeing in the little corner there, that's when we got that little bump. that all moved out of here and things have quieted down but they really haven't warmed up. the pink was the icy mix. and now is the most dangerous part of this entire storm. that's all history. what is left as far as snowfall goes, just over two inches. just half an inch in annapolis and temperatures are falling tonight.

cleared by tomorrow's game. to win play-offs games on the road is challenging enough, yet the ravens have done so each of the past three years. if they can make it four in a row, they're going to the super bowl. the ravens did struggle on the road during the regular season. and on this road trip, they faced the best offense they've seen all year, tom brady and the new england patriots who scored more points than any team in the afc. the ravens go to foxborough believing they can win, yet coach harbaugh told me this week... >> i like that we're going to this game as the underdogs. nobody expects we can win a game. the buses are going to pull up and the ravens are going to get off, and we're going to play the game on 3:00 on sunday, whether we're the underdog or not. >> joe flacco is used to the underdog role. and even away from home, flacco has those fans in mind. >> you know the fans around here are going to be excited,

now gone. the clouds are starting to break up, and temperatures are falling. we turn around to the northeast and that is really going to help drop those temperatures. anything that has melted on the roadways and hasn't been properly taken care of will refreeze over night. so here's the storm. that one is gone. but here comes another one. clouds come in during the day tomorrow. we may have a little bit of freezing rain break out late tomorrow. that will change over to rain, and temperatures are continue to rise through the night into monday. about 50 degrees on monday afternoon. the forecast tonight, watch for icy spots out there. we're going down to 18 degrees. then tomorrow, the clouds come back. temperatures will climb during the day, then keep climbing all night long. eventually we're getting up to 50 by monday. up in foxborough, 27 degrees. that storm is gone. and oh, what a difference a day makes. 50 on monday.
