deadly wreck. a horrific crash today on route 50 claims four lives. tonight, wjz speaks to the family of one of the victims of the wrong-way car. good evening. i'm andrea fujii. adam is off tonight. that crash happened early this morning on route 50 in anne arundel county. wjz is live at state police headquarters. weijia jiang spoke with the family of a young woman who died in that accident. weijia? >> andrea, less than 24 hours after the crash, as you can imagine, this family is very distraught. and they tell wjz, it was their little girl who was driving the car that may have caused the tragedy. >> this is how family members of 19-year-old britney walker will remember her.

her grandfather, norman walker and his wife raised walker as their own daughter. and now feel the pain parents would. 3:30 saturday morning, walker and three others were killed on route 50, east of maryland 424 in davidsonville. it was a head-on collision that ended in a fire. richie walker tells wjz it was his granddaughter who was behind the wheel of a car going the wrong way. >> this vehicle that was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of 350, carrying three passengers, struck head on, a single- passenger vehicle. >> reporter: the walkers say britney left home at this house in hanover, friday night, around refn 11:00, to go to a party with friends. >> i told her to be careful. she said she would. so i don't know if it's alcohol- related or not. i just don't know. >> reporter: and neither do police yet. a crash team is still investigating but identified the two others who were in the same car as walker, as 18-year- olds briana franco and zachary

rhodes. walker, took nursing classes at anne arundel county and worked at a pizza restaurant to pay for classes. mr. walker aches to hold her. >> i would just hold her. tell her i love her. >> reporter: at this time, police are not releasing the name of the fourth victim. that person was the lone occupant of the car that was going the right way on route 50. reporting live at state police headquarters, weijia jiang, wjz eyewitness news. >> okay. thank you, weijia. police say a few hours earlier, callers also reported a driver going the wrong way on i-97. they're investigating whether it was the same car. an annapolis teen remains in the hospital tonight, after a brutal fight at a high school. witnesses say dozens of students fought as two teens fought across the street from broad neck high school yesterday. by the time police arrived, an

18-year-old student was having a seizure. he is now at shock trauma, in serious condition. police haven't filed charges yet against the 15-year-old involved in the fight. prince george's county police are now trying to figure out how a dead body got in a 20- foot deep well. authorities say they received a tip about the well behind an unoccupied home in fort washington on thursday. police don't know how long the body has been there or who it is. there is speculation, though, that it may be a missing activist, from northern virginia, whose phone was discovered near the well last september. a laurel man gunned down just weeks before becoming a first-time father. now, his family and friends speak to wjz about upping the reward money to find the people responsible. >> reporter: gregory sears was killed 11 days before his first child was born. >> the baby is wonderful. craig never got to see his

child. >> reporter: in the early morning of january 6th, police say sears was in his driveway in the 8,000 block of ian's alley, when two masked men shot him. >> it hasn't been determined whether this was targeted or random. but we believe it is a robbery. >> reporter: as family members gather to remember him, they are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. >> that is why we're releasing the reward information. so no other family has to go through what we're going through right now. >> it's not something that happens to people you know or people who aren't involved in shady things. >> reporter: sears coowned a company that helps children and parents receive medical assistance. his family says even in death, he'd want to help others, to catch the killers and make the community safer. >> he was my rock. and...

looking live outside now. the camera is kind of moving around. it's a bit windy out there. it's 41 degrees and partly cloudy in central maryland right now. the complete first warning weather forecast is coming up. a police officer is shot and killed while his colleagues try to arrest him in california. the santa maria officer was accused of sexual misconduct with a minor when another officer tried to make the arrest, the suspect officer allegedly drew his weapon and fired. in a response, police shot him and he died from the injury. his name hasn't been released. a vigil is held today as investigators reveal new discoveries in the case of a missing baby, ala reynolds. police found traces of blood in the basement of her house in maine. the 20-month-old was reported missing by her father six weeks ago. the blood is the latest development in the investigation.

his eulogy by reading statements from president obama. baltimore catholic schools are making a turnaround after years of open enrollment. the announcement comes at a time when catholic schools begin a week of celebrations. >> three years ago, the baltimore archdiocese shut down several catholic schools. enrollment was down, and operations were up. >> i really look forward to coming back here as alumni. and now, i won't have that. >> this week, cardinal- designate edwin o'brien, talked about the tough choices he made back then to bring in catholic schools today. >> i wish i didn't have to do it, but i did. >> reporter: the archdiocese

and the thing is, even though a cold front is coming through tonight, we're still way above average for tomorrow. wait until you see some of these numbers. here's the cold front. made its way across the state. sprinkle or two with it. but that was about it. it is now getting out of here. picked up the winds a little bit behind it. and that is bringing in cooler air. but not cold air. winds are gusting up to 21 miles per hour right now. and take a look upstream. it's down to 28 in oakland. still 41 in baltimore. mid-40s in ocean city and patuxent. and the thing is, we got to 53 degrees this afternoon, way above the average of 42. and even though the cooler air is coming in, it's just not all that cold. when we take a look at the entire united states, there's not a lot of arctic air out there. it is locked up to our north. and it's going to be for the next couple of days. really just staying put in canada, and even points farther north, while we get unseasonably warm air in some areas. for us, a couple of days are going to be closer to average. but wait until you see the middle of the week, what's

moving in our direction. we get rid of this front. that will be out of here by tomorrow. there's another one coming in behind it. and there's not a whole lot to that next one either. bring clouds tomorrow. and maybe a sprinkle or shower tomorrow night. that gets out of here by monday. and it will knock down our temperatures, closer to our averages. but still, we're talking mid- 40s. then some clouds will come through with this next warm front on monday afternoon. the warm front clears up. we're jumping up to the 60s the middle of the week. on the waters with all of this going on, the winds will pick up out of the southwest, as we head into tomorrow. small craft advisories in effect right now. but again so on sunday, even with a shifting wind out there. tonight, breezy out there. partly cloudy. 30 degrees for our low. and tomorrow, we go right back up. going to 49 degrees with a mixture of sunshine and clouds. by tomorrow night, we may get a shower or two from that front passing through. and cools us down monday at 44, but that's it. because on tuesday, we're back up to 62 degrees. wednesday, chance for a couple of showers and 64. and when that cools us down, we're still looking at 54 on thursday. andrea?
