this is wjz tv baltimore. >> from the cities, to the counties, to your neighborhood. now it's complete coverage, wjz, maryland's news station. >> the chase captured on camera and new information on the man killed. >> hello everybody i'm denice. we are learning more about a man who stole a police cruiser and then shot by officers. we have pictures from the chase and mike talks to witnesses awoken from a sound sleep by the chaos. >> reporter: you hear the cop cars peeling away and seconds

later at least a dozen gunshots. that gun fire was over in three seconds. police say four officers discharged their weapons killing a man they say stole a police car on the beltway after threatening an officer. dave watched some of the moments unfold hearing the suv rushing past his home. >> there were 40-50 police cars chasing after this guy. >> reporter: later that gun fire rang in his ears. >> we heard 10-12 shots go off. >> reporter: police never found a weapon on him. they found he had a criminal record. he'd been charged in the past are eluding police. the four officers who fired their weapons are on ruin teen administrative leave. >> it sounded like a machine

gun. >> reporter: his family declined interviews. his brother did write on facebook, rip my little brother. i love you so much. i can't stop crying. the officers were from baltimore counties. wjz eyewitness news. >> officially police have not said how many shots they fired. right now city police are searching for a gunman who shot a man in east baltimore. sky chopper was flying over the scene and he told the police he was sitting in front of the house when someone started shooting. he is in serious condition tonight. >> two women are attacked by a gunman outside a rolling park restaurant and one a prominent.

>> reporter: an unfamiliar site outside one of baltimore's most popular upscale restaurants and a police officer stationed out front. two women were robbed at gun point after leaving the restaurant. one of the victims is community activist, 73 year old sally. they were getting in their car when a man who claims to have a gun approached. >> i believe he said if you don't want to get shot give me the purse. >> reporter: he leaned into the car and grabbed a purse and one of the women refused to turn over their hand bag. >> the suspect appeared to get spooked and ran off. we do not urge people to confront suspects. just do what they ask. >> reporter: neighbors are worried the gunman is still on

the loose. >> it's disturbing. i live 6 blocks down that way and don't think twice about walking up here. >> reporter: they have stepped up patrol throughout the community and a text message was sent to the neighbors to warn them of the crime. they hope to stop the gunman from striking again. the police do not have a detail ed description of the suspect but are reviewing tape from the video recorders in this area. >> they warn anyone who sees anything suspicious to call the police right away. >> a cat killer is headed to jail for animal mutilation. a judge sentenced ethan to 90 days in jail. in addition to jail, he must pay a fine and is not allowed to have contact with animals

for three years. a guilty plea is expected from this man. he will change his plea in one of the largest cases ever. he's accused of taking documents from maryland's historical society. he will be in court next tuesday. his assistant has already pleaded guilty. >> a heart breaking end to the ravens season and for the first and only time this year they open up. we have the revealing interview. >> reporter: the coach, general manager, team president and team owner all arriving to answer questions about a raven season that ended with such dramatic disappointment in new england. owner says he is not over the set back yet but he tells me he is not mad at raven's kicker. >> things like that kill these

fans and entertainers were stunned to learn he died wednesday inside a home, apparently a victim of a self- inflicted gunshot wound. friends say he was a pioneer, visionary and a giant. >> he gave them something that put a positive imagine on young black people. >> reporter: sky eye chopper 13 is in woodland after radio stations asked fans to come by and pay tribute to cornelius. they say finding people with the same passion and visions he had will be difficult. >> he's going to be missed but you can't describe him because everything he did was ground breaking. >> reporter: cornelius started

right now. egypt looks more like a war zone after a bloody and deadly melee. stands stampeded on to the field and chased the players. 72 people were killed and others were injured. this is the deadliest case of soccer violence since 199 6. a dramatic rescue is caught on tape as new jersey police officers arrive at the scene of a car on fire. the officers had to break the window to pull the driver out. he was treated for smoke. none of the officers injured. >> police say 61 year old mark burns blind folded students, even put roaches on their faces under the guides of playing the

game. they uncovered hundreds of nude pictures. he faces life in prison if convicted. a massachusetts' family is terrified after mistakenly being the subject of an fbi drug raid. the agents used a chain saw to break down her do and she was ordered to the floor and stayed there until the agents realized they had the wrong apartment. they eventually arrested the right suspect and are paying for the damage. >> a packaging era triggers a recall of birth control pills. the mix up meant the active pills and placebos were placed out of order and that could risk an accidental pregnancy. they say the pill is an older version and is not among the more commonly prescribed brands. there have been no reports of any health problems. >> a major status change for facebook. the company is going public.

the social network giant hopes to raise $5 billion in its initial offering. facebook doubled its revenue to $68 billion in the last year. ceo will still control 57% of facebook's stock. a warm day in february may be a rare gift but for scientist it is a bit more data in unlocking weather patterns. why it's feeling like the winter that wasn't. >> reporter: daffodils already blooming in baltimore and people walking unbundled in february. >> amazing weather. >> it's beautiful. >> i like it. i don't like cold winter. >> reporter: so far there's only been one day with snow and it wasn't much. >> this year there's not a lot of moisture coming from the pacific over the continental u.s. >> reporter: gail's specialty

eyewitness news. >> to better understand winter patterns, nasa is launching a satellite that will track snow from formation to the moment we shovel it. >> i don't care why it's happening, i'm just happy it is. >> keep it in mind. two years ago we were looking at the weekend of snow. two blizzards in four or five days. 40-60 inches of snow just two years ago. so far this year we've had an inch and a half. we do have a little bit of rain coming overnight. take a quick look at the radar. washington now, a little batch of rain in that region. most of it moving due east but some of it may extend into our region during the overnight and early morning hours. don't expect a lot but it may be a little bit. we're 54 degrees right now. 54 still. right now a little cold into the west with some clouds.

40-42, 57, still mild in the east. it will get a little cooler tonight into the low 40s with clouds coming in and a little bit of rain. 7 0 degrees today. the record 75 in 2002. 50 the low so far today. we'll get below that in the next couple of hours. 25 is normal for this time of year. right now we have a west wind rather light. it's not going to be a big strong wind. we do have moisture to the south we mentioned. it's forming a little bit of low pressure across the carolinas. some of it may extend here. i don't see anything north of the mason dixon line.

then we're searching a gradual cool down into friday and temperatures getting back into the mid-and upper 40s again. the -- it will get cloudy. perhaps a little rain in the morning and then cooler than today. 54 but we'll see sunshine in the afternoon. 50, that's it. that will feel cool on friday. 40s for the weekend. maybe a little drizzle sunday into monday with cooler temperatures. >> perfect. thank you, bob. coming up, raven's owner opens up in an interview. >> mark spoke with the owner today and he has a special for the fans next in spo,,,,,,,,,,,,
