their candidate in 2011. back to you. >> they will be split up based on the final results. a winter storm slowly moved across iowa tonight dumping tons of snow. nebraska got slammed with the snow sweeping across the plains. a total of 8 1/2 inches of wet heavy snow there fell pretty quickly. the storm is now slowly moving east causing headaches in the way. in maryland, we enjoyed our little own taste of the winter. rain changed to snow in parts of the state. fell pretty steadily, but a lot of it didn't stick to the ground. 60 degree weather we were enjoying earlier this week. it looks like the snow is out

more on the growing camp site controversy is wija. >> reporter: camping would no longer be allowed. some got aggressive. protesters went head to head against police. allowed tents to be set up as long as no one sleeps inside. >> the regulations are being enforced. this is not an eviction. this is going very successfully. >> reporter: but six people were arrested including one man police say threw a brick at an officer's face who is charged with felony assault and assault with a deadly weapon against a police officer. taken with nonlife threatening injuries to the hospital.

october. a police officer arrested tipping off before a drug bust. warned the suspects that the officers were about to raid their home on thursday night. the suspects then told police that's when they moved several grams of marijuana. >> while we were executing the search warrant, people outside the home. one indicated that a couple of hours, the individual called there and warned them that the police were en route to start the warrant. that's what prompted them to take the drugs out of the home and hide it at a different location. >> the 36 year old is charged with obstruction to sell marijuana. a member of the force. troopers recovering tonight after the incredible damage here. started when senior trooper made a traffic stop friday morning soon after the suspect

took off and ran his car into sawa's cruiser. into a fence and then a rail. it went right through the windshield, hitting the trooper directly in the chest. luckily, we're told he only suffered minor injuries and the suspect is facing dui and assault charges tonight. efforts to try to find a man who sexually assaulted a woman at a strip mall. gigi barnett explains police have a better idea of who they're looking for. >> reporter: the police are looking for this man. on january 21st, shortly before 11:00 p.m., investigators say he walked up to a woman, sexually assaulted her, and then ran away. >> they were unable to locate suspect of the. investigation at that point turned over to criminal investigation division. >> reporter: now detectives look for witnesses too. the suspect was wearing a dark colored jacket, and an earring

bernadette will have your forecast shortly. this is the deadliest attack so far on the government's crackdown of prodemocracy protesters. didn't really take any action to stop the violence. china just fought a resolution causing for the president to step down. hundreds of passengers had to be rescued after another ship disaster off the coast of italy. the passenger ferry ran aground near roam. more than 300 people had to be taken off the ship. the ship was battered by a storm and hit the pier here. no one hurt. this is less than a month after the costa concordia cruise ship. 17 bodies recovered since the accident. a town in the spotlight as a medical mystery unfolding there. centered on the investigation into a strange illness affected more than a dozen residents.

and as we moved to the evening hours, there was a first place where they layed on surfaces, but that is leaving us. still, sun flurries through the overnight. as far as snowfall amounts go, generally an inch to two inches, back to carroll county. frederick county an inch and a half also. hunt valley just a trace. and slightly up. not a whole lot coming out of these bands. to the north, just enough cold air to force everything to change over. another thing too. to make temperatures right around the tricky freezing mark. we're going to stay above freezing. very close to freezing in baltimore here. for hey diverse town, 33 degrees. already dropped to 32. a lot of areas around here, frederick also. may be icy spots on the road.

be careful heading out late tonight or early tomorrow morning. we topped out still above average but not quite to 70. 29 is where we started off. by tomorrow, all of that leaves us. we dry out. we actually warm up once again to the 50s for monday and tuesday before we deal with the next storm system coming our way. we get rid of this one. that's out of here. clouds break in with sunshine. that is going to be a process. then towards wednesday, this is the next storm moving our way. a chance for a shower or two. we warm back up once again. the forecast on the waters, north winds at 5 to 10 knots. going down to just around 32 degrees. watch for icy spots on the road. tomorrow, back up to 47 degrees. look at the next couple of days in the 50s. monday and tuesday as we dry out once again. here's the next wednesday for a chance of a couple of showers.
