tragic twists. the family of a missing utah woman, killed by an explosion. tonight, police say it was intentional. >> >> new developments in the story, tonight, good evening, thanks for joining us, i'm adam may. police in washington state say a home explosion killed paul and his two sons. he was a person of interest in his wife's disappearance in 2009. there is a report that police now believe that paul was definitely behind that blast. >> an explosion destroyed this washington state home where the husband of a missing utah woman

lived. investigators say josh powell and the couple's two young sons died when the home burst into flames. >> >> a huge explosion, shook my house and i ran outside and the whole house was on fire. >> firefighters are picking through the debris to determine what caused the explosion. >> reporter: firefighters say the home went up after a worker from child protective services dropped off the children. powell allegedly blocked the social worker from entering the home. moments before, she called the supervisor to report the smell of gas. josh powell is a person of interest in the disappearance of susan powell from december of 2009 >> i did not kill my wife as is alleged. >> he claimed he took his son

camping. a judge denied powell's request to regain custody of his children on wednesday. his lawyer tells the associated press minutes before the explosion, powell sent an e- mail simply saying "i'm sorry. good-bye." will affect customers and workers. >> reporter: relatively new to the baltimore area, but soon, two fresh and green locations will be changing names. >> they are supposed to be moving in sometime in march. >> reporter: he is referring to the giant food store at the rotunda mall. after four decades, the store is moving two blocks away and into a location currently occupied by fresh and green, a store already closed to customers. >> what i'm hoping is that okay, it's larger, so they will carrey their current employees over and hopefully, we hope, hire the employees that are at fresh and green. >> the fresh and green soon to be giant foods will remain in the current location. for now, it's still open for business, but with signs that read "open now, renovating

an icy pond in rhode island. take a look at these pictures of the pretty dramatic rescue. a black lab named beau fell into an icy pond. neighbors cannot get him. the firefighter you see right there jumped into the frigid water to get that dog. >> this happened quick, you do what you have to do to get it out that as quickly and safely as possible. >> animal control took the dog to check him out for hypothermia. the dog is doing okay and as ben said, reunited with his owner. . and the weather going on, i have heard a couple of people say, it's supposed to be cold in the ukraine. not as cold as it has been. we are talking 30 below. this is incredible cold weather going on there.

while we have another warmup coming our way. wait until you see the five-day forecast. right now, though, we'll take you back to last night with the last round of a dose of winter moving through. that all got out of here this afternoon. sunshine returned with mainly clear skies, a little breeze out of the northwest. normally, this is a cooler breeze and it is cooling us down somewhat, but it's still 31 degrees outside. a lot of 30s around the map. 37 in dc and that is our low on the day, so far, 31 degrees. we did get up to 45 and you noticed it is still above average. the above average thing continues. we are going way above average again. could get some clouds from this system coming by tomorrow. after that, another front right up in here. there is not a lot to that front, but it will follow through on wednesday. you will see some of the clouds pass by tomorrow and by the time we hit tuesday, mostly

sunny skies. on monday, way out to the west of us. there is some colder air behind it, which will affect the forecast. so, first up, we have the first two storms. they get out of here and here comes this one from the northwest. wednesday, it passes by with the thought of colder air, we could see some rain and snowshowers out of it, but it gets out of her quake quickly and we are back to the 50s by the end of the week. southwest winds five to 10 knots. that beginning the warmup. then tomorrow, we go back up to 52 degrees. some afternoon clouds from the southern passing storm and then we are up to 55 degrees by tuesday. here comes the next shot out of the north with the next cold front and rain, maybe snowshowers with it. back up to 47 by thursday. friday, back up to 50 degrees. adam? . thanks so much, bern. >> >> superbowl highlights and you
