it's some generally light snow out there and south of the city. it's all rain around d.c. that's too mild and some rain. probably some more rain this evening and northwest, probably continue to see some of the light snow. now we have advisory that goes into effect on midnight all day tomorrow. that's a winter weather advisory and a winter storm warning because we'll start to see gusty snows in western maryland. temperaturewise, we're well below freezing. how much accumulation could be seen here? we'll have the full morning forecast coming up. >> for updates on the forecast and any delays, log on to wjz.com. a marathon debate over same- sex marriage bill lasted late

into the evening. things get heated in a house hearing in annapolis. meghan mccorkell was there as both sides pleaded their cases. meghan? >> reporter: the house hearing started at 1:00 this afternoon and it's still going on right now. a volume of opinions in annapolis over same-sex marriage. >> i'm not an equal citizen in my home state of maryland. >> i'm gay and i'm opposed to this. >> they vote in favor of legalizing same-sex marriage. >> it's not right or just that children of gay couples have less protection under the law than other families in the state. >> they push for a constitutional amendment to support traditional marriage. >> marriage is between a man

and a woman. >> reporter: one notable opponent is 14 year old. >> it would make people more equal. >> reporter: received death threats in front of a senate committee. this is a very personal fight. >> i'm fighting for my relationship. i'm not sure how many of you had to stand before your peers to declare your relationship is worthy of recognition. >> reporter: one of the most contentious bills hangs in the balance. and this will ultimately come down to a handful of delegates. the house needs 71 votes in favor of legalizing same-sex

marriage. wjz eyewitness news. >> it fell short in the house of delegates last year. two girls hit by a van are in a local trauma center in north frederick burg. the girls injuries are serious but are okay. it was a mess but no one was hurt when this pickup truck slammed. no one was inside at the time and the driver backed out. police are trying to figure out how it happened. two police cited the story for the first time in a maryland lacrosse player's. jessica kartalija brings us the latest. >> reporter: leaving the courtroom in tears today. former university of virginia player george admitted he wrestled with and shoved yardly

love but never punched or strangled her. this played for jurors inside the district court. the footage was recorded hours after the body was discovered in may of 2010. hooley talked to police about the on again, off again relationship but didn't inflict lethal injury. told her, quote, she's dead. the expletive, is she dead? because you killed her. she responded, she's dead? she's dead? she's dead? how? how? how? i didn't even expletive hit her. sobbed as that tape was playing. showing jurors a giant hole that allegedly kicked through

former penn state football coach jerry sandusky lashes out with his access to children. sandusky wants to be able to see his grandchildren even though he faces multiple counts of child sex abuse. sandusky sits on his back porch and watches children from a nearby playground, his neighbors complain. >> all the sudden, these people turn on me when they've been in my home with their kids. >> promised a quick ruling on the terms of sandusky's house arrest. he also set a tentative trial date of february 14th. killed in a tucson explosion. the item found in a storage unit found to josh powell. more tests are needed on the comforter to determine who it is. he was involved in the disappearance of his wife in 2009. the classic gone in the wind may be gone in the fire.

snow. another batch in portions of west virginia and kentucky and ohio. we expect to see at least some periods of rain and eventually some snow in the region as well. but now, it's just a little too warm. 39 degrees currently with the dew point above 33. it's not that conducive for snow. northeast winds and falling to the west of us. just called an effort on the grass in a few spots. they're going to see a lot of snow in oakland. a lot warmer southeast. a little snow early in westminster. tonight, mainly, we're talking about tomorrow it's adding up. the d.c. area, may be a few flurries south of us.

northern baltimore and southern pa, more expected. it's going to get windy. windchills down to at or below zero but tomorrow night. the winds are now very light, northeast and will pick up tomorrow as low pressure to the south moves off the east coast to miss us, but an arctic front with a lot of snow around the great lakes because the lakes aren't even frozen. a little rain activity on the south with snow developing to the south and southwest. a little bit of snow from time to time. don't think it will accumulate until it gets much later in the day. it could be a quick drop after dinner tomorrow night and anything that's left out there if not treated will freeze. so that could be a real issue with driving and walking later on. it could be windy. maybe snow showers late in the evening saturday, but should clear out and at least be mostly sunny, but quite cold
