>> awaiting a verdict. jurors are now deliberatic the fate of george huguely. >> wjz has the latest from charlottesville, virginia. >> good afternoon, i am don scott. >> and i am jessica kartalija. >> here is what people are talking about today, the jury deliberations are underway in the george huguely murder trial, accused of killing yeardly love. wjz and adam may are live at the courthouse. good afternoon, adam. >> reporter: good afternoon, don. two weeks of dramatic testimony and it has all come down to this, jurors are deliberating the fate of george huguely, working for two hours. george huguely walked into court this morning wearing an oversized dark suit top and a light colored baggy pants. he has been wearing these types of outfits here throughout the entire trial, basically clothes that don't fit him. he was much larger at the time of his arrest. seen in court this morning

talkative, actually smiling when he was talking with his defense attorneys, even waved at his family. he is accused of killing yeardly love. prosecutors say it happened in a drunken rage, when he beat her to death in her apartment. yeardly love's mother also arrived here. she has not missed a single moment. she had a very long conversation with the prosecutors once the jurors began their conversations. we don't know what it was but presumably they were talking about the case, the prosecutors has been pushing jurors to convict him of first or second- degree murder. that will mean he could serve life in prison. second degree means he could serve 40 years. meanwhile the defense attorneys have been arguing this was a pure accident and pushing

jurors to make a verdict of involuntary manslaughter, which would mean 10 years or less. we have no idea how long it will take. adam may, wjz eyewitness news. >> thank you very much, adam. stay with wjz as we continue to follow the deliberations and promise to bring you the verdict as soon as one is announced. >> same sex marriage advocates will have to wait a little while longer to find out if the measure will pass in the senate. mike hellgren has more on what happened today. >> reporter: jessica a little while ago senators decided to push the vote back from today to tomorrow. yesterday a senate committee passed the bill despite opposition from some who say it does not adequate protect religious liberties. the senate passed the same sex marriage bill last year so we believe it will come up for a vote and the governor said he will sign it into law. >> opponents are promising to call for a referendum on the

matters giving voters the ultimate say on the matter. >> and witnesses are sharing 911 calls from a road rage incident that escalated into violence earlier this week. >> okay, what is going on? >> there has been a stabbing and a car accident. >> saying what they saw, ross sudbrook stabbed a driver in the suv after the two had words. others saw the suv crash into sudbrook's car and they fought, both will survive. sudbrook is charged with assault. the prison inmate convicted of murdering a correctional officer will soon now, if he will be put to death. he could be the first person executed since the general assembly changed maryland's capitol punishment law. >> police are asking for your help tracking down two people involved in a robber and

shooting at a store. police say two men opened fire inside the store on hartford road in hamilton after 9:30 last night. the robbers stole cash and cigarettes before shooting a 46- year-old customer in the chest. anyone with information on the whereabouts of these two men is urged to call police. baltimore city leaders have approved a contract with the new organizers of the baltimore grand prix keeping the race in charm city through 2016. it calls f the finances to be kept private as requested by down force racing. >> a kind of cloudy day start has given way to a lot more sunshine but it is the warm up you will notice first and foremost. a live look outside shows another fabbary day with none of the wind that must have helped keep yesterday colder than we hoped. we have coverage with marty bass and bernadette woods in the weather center. good afternoon. >> good afternoon, don and everybody out there. we will start out with first

syrian government forces attacking rebel fighters killed two western journal efforts including a famed american war correspondent, tina kraus has the latest. >> reporter: syrian forces reportedly shelled a house in the rebel stronghold, killing an american reporter. 57-year-old marie colvin was a veteran correspondent. >> this is a reminder of the risks journalists take to inform the world. >> a day before she died she was on tv calling the government bombardment relentless and shocking. >> i think the sickening thing is the complete merciless nature. they are hitting civilian buildings. >> a french photographer was also killed.

witnesses say a rocket hit the journalists as they tried to escape a barrage of shelling. helicopters gun ships are helping forces loyal to president. weeks of attacks have left hundreds dead. this amateur video reportedly shows hundreds of syrian soldiers joining the rebel's fight to take down assad's government. western powers, including the u.s., have not ruled out arming rebels to help end the conflict. tina kraus, wjz eyewitness news. >> president obama has said he hopes diplomacy not military force will solve the crisis but they said military tactics may have to be explored. >> 5 people were shot and killed inside a spa in georgia overnight. police believe one of the dead shot the other four then killed himself in norcross, just northeast of atlanta. so far there is no motive.

the detectives are promising to realize more information later today. >> more fall out from a deadly mine explosion in west virginia. now the mine superintendent is facing charges. federal investigators say the man was part of a conspiracy to conceal safety hazards at the upper big branch mine. back in 2010 a huge explosion killed 29 men. the mine's former security chief was later convicted of lying to investigators and trying to destroy documents. prosecutors are asking a judge to sentence him to the maximum 10 years in prison. >> in washington, d.c., the president sang in public again. this time belting out some blues. ♪ [ music ] >> baby don't you want to go? >> same old place. >> sweet home chicago. medicare guide and customized rate quote. now weather, the complete forecast and the first warning of severe weather. >> welcome back, everybody, oh, the sun is out right now, a hazy sunshine but clouds through the afternoon because there are a couple of fronts we need to talk about. first off the temperatures 59 in baltimore, look at all of these upper 50s, just long the water though that water is much cooler, in the 40s, 48 in kent island and 48 in annapolis. the winds out of the southwest and there is a lot of mild air where that came from. no real cold air in sight, we will continue to pull that air our direction until we have a cold front later in the week. before we get to that one there is a couple of fronts in this area. as they pass by we will get clouds maybe showers tonight maybe even a shower tomorrow but friday it could bring us not only rain but a couple of

thunderstorms are here. other than that though we are going to see sunshine with those clouds and those temperatures way up there. you can see the general track of these storms is north so we are on the warm side of everything. here is that first front that passes by tonight. here is that another one coming our way tomorrow but it is friday when that cold front comes through, a chance for rain and a couple of thunderstorms and it is going to kick up our winds, over the weekend it turns around to the northwest, brings in colder air and off the lakes there is a lake event snow event so western parts of the state will see snow this weekend and also very windy during that time. so the forecast looks like this, on the waters southwest wind gusting at times today, overall, though, it is going to be a warm one, 64 degrees is what we going up to, a chance for a shower late. then tonight a chance for showers, tomorrow maybe just a shower. still sunshine out there, times up into the 60s, we will deal
