good evening everyone thanks for joining us. i'm adam may, we start tonight with some sad news from the war. family and friends are mourning the loss of a baltimore soldier who was killed in afghanistan. family members tell wjz that robert marchanti was killed yesterday in afghanistan. he was a teacher in the baltimore county school system for 16 years. tune into eyewitness news tonight at 11:00. we're getting some reaction the to his death and more information. in other news, a man walks in on a burglary in his home in baltimore county then he's shot. >> the man is lucky to be alive. he survived the gunshot wound. but the wielding burglar in

this case, he's not so lucky. tonight he's sitting in jail. news of what happened inside this home on allegheny avenue spread quickly with neighbors. >> it's like my biggest nightmare. we live just down the street. >> reporter: the homeowner returned to find a crook in his house. the homeowner was shot while police began searching. police were told to look for a man dressed completely in camouflage. >> it's pretty surprising to hear about something like that, about 100 yards away from where we live. >> reporter: the crime has those who live in this family friendly neighborhood on heightened alert. many here already tried to deter burglars. >> i'm crazy about it. i'm always making sure that the windows are locked, the doors are locked. i will wake up in the middle of

the night to make sure they're closed. >> this is the first time i've heard of a violent situation like this. >> reporter: we are told that the homeowner in this case has already been treated and released from the hospital. police say this appears to be a random crime they say the suspect and the victim did not know each other. derek valcourt, eyewitness news. i can only imagine the camouflage made him easy to spot. the man is expected to be a bail review tomorrow. family and friends remember a man who was killed on his bike last year. the student was hit while riding his bike on campus last february and the 83-year-old woman who hit him, stopped her car but did not call for help. he was pronounced brain dead and died a few days later.

the new bill they're pushing would renew licenses for two years instead of five. thomas adkins jr. was found stabbed several times. anyone with information is urged to call police. two firefighters remain in critical condition after being hurt in a house fire. officials say that the blatantsburg firefighters responded and two were hurt. what's in store for the rest of the night and the workweek? let's get a preview from meteorologist bernadette woods. she's live, at least it was a little better than yesterday. >> we lost the wind.

economy with president obama. it's just two days until the michigan primary and candidates are working hard. >> reporter: for these conservative christians their faith has a heavy influence in their politics. gunther is facing the race closely. rick santorum is his candidate. >> he stands for family value. >> reporter: santorum appeal helps push him to the top of the polls in michigan. mitt romney who was once the favorite in his home state, now finds himself struggling to connect with michigan's conservative voters.

charles mercer says he c annot -- >> reporter: the former massachusetts governor shrugs off criticism that he's out of touch with republican voters. >> i got into this race, other people have come and gone. i have more votes than anybody else in this race so far. >> reporter: santorum touted his conservative credentials to voters in marquette. >> you can tee it up right here in michigan. you can change this race right here in michigan. >> reporter: both candidates will spend 48 hours criss crossing the state they know could be a turning point to face obama in november. danielle nottingham. it is not just michigan, arizona is also holding their primary conference tuesday.

a peaceful protest in afghanistan turns violent after protests throw a grenade at an outpost. there's video of it. at least seven personnel were wounded. one protester was killed. their chief's office also came under attack. protesters are angry over the burning of a koran. karzite repeated his cry for peace. and bp is requesting more time to reach a settlement with lawyers.

because it was so clear out there. the sun felt good and now you can see the stars. >> beautiful, beautiful night. >> here's our forecast. 49degrees, we had a round of cold air all season long. they just don't last very long. we're going up to about 60 degrees tomorrow. 45 is where we set right n ow -- sit right now. look at all these 40s still. you can see just down to our southwest that's where our warmer air is going to come from. we have a lot more where that's coming from. we have a little bit of a breeze. and this wind out of the southwest will pick up more so during the day tomorrow but nothing like what we just experienced. here's the over all picture. there is a storm out there. actually two storms. one dumping rain in daytona for all you nascar lovers. more of that rain is going to continue to come off the coast

even tomorrow. this is what we're thinking. tomorrow sunshine mixed with a few clouds. all of the moisture really stays on the northern side of this storm. a beautiful afternoon making it warmer. that gets out of here on tuesday. temperatures go down a little bit but we're still in the 50s. then they go back up again as this next storm moves our way. this next storm will have moisture with it. we're going to have skies coming in tuesday night and rain may last until thursday. winds pick up out of the southwest, forecast looks like this for tonight. mainly clear, seasonably chilly not all that cold then tomorrow we're back up to 60 degrees and sunshine mixing with a few of those clouds as that front passes to the south of us. we're back down to 60 on tuesday. then here comes this next storm. rain with it on thursday. once that gets out of here we're still in the 60s on friday. >> that will get you thinking
