fife students. lain expected to be in court this afternoon. cbs news has learned that lane claims to be a victim of bullying and warned his friends about his plans two days in advance. he was not a student at sheridan, waiting to be bussed to a nearby school. he tarted one group of kids sitting together before a teacher chased him down. students who knew lane are shocked. >> you never think of him to do this. he is so shy and quiet. he is one of those people that is not talkative around other people. >> reporter: schools are closed today and flags are flying at half staff. more memorials will be held tonight as this community mourns the victims. in sheridan, ohio, manuel gallegus, wjz.com eye witness news. >> some of those shot were waiting for buss to other nearby schools. dover del aware, a solemn home come for the major killed

in afghanistan amid growing anti-american protests in the country. mary bubala is live with more on this. >> reporter: good afternoon. it is a tragic homecoming for major robert marchanti. he worked as ad advisor helping to train afghanistan police. this weekend, one of those afghanistan policeman assassinated him and another u.s. officer inside the highly secured interior ministries building in kabul. that suspected pay back for the burning of the koran by troops at a u.s. air base last monday. the news devastating to his wife and four children who live in baltimore. before taking full time work with the national guard in 2008, marchanti spent years as a physical education teach fer

scary moments for dozens of people aboard a commuter jet had to make an emergency landing at the liberty airport. authority say the united express flight was attempting to land getting ready to, when the front landing gear would not come down. the plane landed without it skiding to a stop on the runway on its nose, nobody was hurt and passengers and crew escaped using the emergency shutes, a fiery interval after a 36-hour rain delay. that was the start of the problems, later, juan montoya would crash in to a safety truck. nobody was hurt but the fire scorched part of the track and delayed the race for two hours.
