deadly tornadoes stretches across six states. but there may be more destruction to come. forecasters predict even stronger storms could hit the midwest on friday. >> if we get hit again, it's going to be bad, worse. it's rough, but the people keep on going, they keep on fighting. >> reporter: an ef-3 tornado tore apart a church. the church used to look like this. >> think about how long this church has been here. a lot of people here have been partitioners for 70-80 years or more. been baptized here, married here, buried their parents here. >> reporter: crews are covering the all-marble all alter. >> that's my mom and dad. >> reporter: recovered pictures where her parents tried to take

cover from a tornado. >> they were headed to the basement. they knew there was a problem, and it just took them longer to get to the basement than what they knew they had time. >> reporter: a new line of storms could hit ohio oh, indiana, kentucky, and tennessee the hardest. >> there have already been more than 120 tornadoes this year, more than double the average. new charges filed against the ohio teenager accused of killing three classmates. facing three murder charges as a juvenile. the prosecutor plans to charge lane as an adult. he has reportedly confessed to the shooting spree in the school cafeteria. a teacher who chased lane to stop the rampage deflected praise. >> i don't know why this happened. i only wish i could have done more. i'm not a hero.

>> a group of students marched to the school in a show of solidarity. classes will resume tomorrow. laurel police hope dramatic video will help them catch a hit and run driver. take a look at the right side of the screen. the white truck hop the curb and hit a man walking along route 198 yesterday. then the driver just drives off. now, police have not identified the victim yet, but he is in critical condition. a deadly drink. some parents and lawmakers say new government rules don't go far enough to regulate four loco. it's popular and dangerous for teenagers. >> reporter: it's nicknamed black out in a can. an unprecedented number of people writing the federal trade commission saying a settlement with the maker over packaging and marketing doesn't go far enough to regulate the drink.

several deaths in maryland, including that of courtney in 2010. >> she blacked out within 30 minutes. >> reporter: and 13-year-old michael just days ago. >> it could have been any one of the children. >> reporter: the government will mandate new labels. contains the same amount of alcohol as four and a half beers. they're also requiring re-sealable cans. but critics, including attorneys general in more than 30 states wrote the ftc calling four loco disarmingly sweet, normalizing and promoting binge drinking. >> i think it's inherently dangerous for children. >> reporter: they want the agency to limit containers to no more than two servings of alcohol. the ftc says there's little more the agency can do.

they can't regulate size or potency. >> i don't think it needs a label. i think parents need to talk to their kids about underage drinking and stop blaming the particular drink. >> reporter: they do not promote binge drinking. >> the ftc will make a final decision on regulations sometime later this year. baltimore city schools are short on cash, but that's not stopping the school system from spending millions on employee overtime. our media partners at the baltimore sun report the school spent more than $14 million on overtime over the last four years. the biggest earner was a driver, he more than doubled his $76,000 salary with overtime. fire works light up the sky over downtown baltimore tonight.

it is not a holiday, but the city is celebrating a major innovation project. tear down the sky walk over baltimore street, add new landscaping to spruce up the area. a brand-new children's hospital comes to sainai. the center will allow families to stay together through a sick child's treatment. we got a look at the cutting edge new hospital. >> the state of the art hospital is days away from opening. >> two, one... [ cheering and applause ] >> reporter: cheers and smiles in northwest baltimore as they dedicate the new herman and walter samuelson hospital. >> there are only three hospitals that provide this kind of care for children and we're one of them. >> reporter: it cost $29 million and is 23,000 square feet. there are 26 rooms.

the new play room is about 50% larger than the previous one. there's a new lounge dedicated to teens. a state of the art facility that will help kids who have endured surgery. >> it's unbelievable that the children and families will have something like that. >> the rooms are bigger. if you're able to get up, you can take a shower. >> reporter: when children are undergoing treatment for something that's painful or scary, they can interact with this -- it's called a distraction station. all part of big changes in medicine and here at sainai. >> it will take something that's already been great a little bit better. >> reporter: patients move in march 19th. >> looks terrific. thank you. with expanded facilities, parents are encouraged to stay with their children around the

it is 46 degrees and clear in central maryland right now. the complete forecast is coming up. an explosive confrontation during a protest at the university of california in santa cruz. a man approaches a group of students demonstrating against tuition hikes. the argument escalates as he walks away. he gets in a fight as several other students jump on him. no one was seriously hurt. it was a chaotic scene at the philadelphia international airport. this is video of a police chase on the runway. a 24-year-old man crashed through a security gate. the incident closed the airport for about 30 minutes and forced a plane to abort a landing.

he's facing a number of charges, including driving under the influence. new details emerge in the sandusky sex abuse scandal. 8 of the 10 alleged victims were molested on the penn state campus. accused of abusing one of the boys in florida and texas. the ohio fences happened from 1996 to 2009. they say the boys ranged in age from 8-17. he's under home confinement while he awaits trial. yesterday, his request for a two-month delay was denied by a judge. popular conservative blogger andrew brightbart collapses and dies near his home. the 43-year-old used the internet to fight what he called the liberal media bias. he made headlines last year for his role in causing anthony weiner to resign in a sexting

scandal. the passengers from a crippled italian cruise ship are back online. after a three-day or deal at sea, this is what it was like with no electricity and no running water. passengers stayed on the decks because their cabins had no air-conditions. the food supply consisted of cold sandwiches. scrutiny over the security procedured at the airport, lawmaker is upset about the controversial pat downs and he's hoping to force a change. >> reporter: judy major is at the beginning of her journey to california. >> if you had your druthers, would you have a pat down or no pat down? >> reporter: she, she wants a safe plane and security to keep their hands off. >> there's machinery that can do that for you. >> reporter: there are times a pat down is necessary. >> we have a bunch of machinery.

comment on pending legislation. it will be a centennial celebration of cherry blossoms in the nation's capital. they're expected to peak sometime between march 24 and 31st. the annual cherry blossom festival attracts a million visitors to washington, d.c. >> some of them bloomed a little bit this winter when it was really warm for a while. hopefully they'll stay on there without heavy rain and wind. this has been the 7th warmest ever, 150 years of records. beautiful afternoon, got into the mid and upper 60s. right now it's down to 46, which is close to the normal high. dew point up a tad. the barometer right now holding

steady. currently, 38, 34, 35. there is chilly air to the west. d.c. at 47. ocean city at 45. locally, temperatures low to mid-40s. a little warmer by the bay. right now, the winds back to the north and northeast. tomorrow they come back out of the east. this front down to the south will start forming as a warm front. clouds will increase, maybe showers by dinner time, could be a rumble of thunder. to the west, another area of low pressure will drag a cold front across our region late friday into saturday. rain and maybe gusty thunderstorms. now, during the day tomorrow and tomorrow night, this area from southern ohio, much of kentucky, and tennessee, maybe northern mississippi, that's where we expect to see severe weather breaking out.

probably some tornado activity unfortunately for those folks later tomorrow night. the same dynamics that caused the tornadoes the other day probably in place again. watch that carefully. clear skies around the region. a pleasant start to tomorrow. the clouds start coming back with the warm front. for us, maybe some thunder as the front comes through on saturday. brief downpours and it dries out in the afternoon. sunshine returns, a mild day. then it turns colder saturday night and sunday. sunday will be chilly. east winds at 5 knots. the day temperature around 46. clear temperatures back in the 30s, maybe 30-40 across the area. tomorrow, increasing cloud and showers and rain by evening. 59 down into 40s tomorrow night. showers early sat, then clearing
