>> from the city, to the counties, to your neighborhood, now it is complete coverage. it is wjz, maryland's news station. >> not again. days after devastating tornadoes strike several states more storms roll in. hello again, i am jessica kartalija and here is what people are talking about today, we have breaking news this noon a tornado touches down in alabama. it hit this morning destroying homes there. no reports of injuries yet but forecasters say the system could bring strongered toes to the same region where 13 people were killed earlier this week. we have this report from kentucky. >> reporter: melissa clark and her family scrambled to salvage their belongings thursday while the skies are still clear. >> now there are storms rolling in again. >> i know that is awful. we have worked all day to get

as much as possible out because we don't have any roof. >> a tornado tore through her home in kentucky wednesday, sucking up almost everything with it. the system was part of the same string of killer tornadoes that roared across the midwest and south. clark wasn't home at the time but she is pregnant and this ordeal is taking its toll. >> we have a baby in eight weeks. so you know to not have a home to bring him home to is pretty stressful. >> today's storm is threatening to unleash more devastation with potentially stronger twisters. at jennifer mayfield's house there is not much left to destroy. >> well, there is not really much more damage it can do to my house so if it levels it it is okay. probably less i will have to pay for clean up. >> reporter: she collected what she could thursday with help from her church friends. she says she is blessed to live and her pastor has faith. >> the same god we trusted through these will be the same 1 we trust through the next

storm and the next storm and the next storm. >> there have already been more than 120 tornadoes this year, more than double the average. here rain is headed our way. a live look outside the sun is peaking through those clouds. we are live with first warning weather coverage. marty is enjoying the weather in the outbake but we begin with meteorologist tim williams right here in the weather center. >> good afternoon. we do have clouds moving into the region but a nice day in place. first warning weather live doppler radar you see over the state no rain now but that is moving in our direction but take a look at the problems out west. this is triggering the severe weather. we have been talking how these temperatures feel more spring like. these are spring like problems. we are guesting temperatures more april like. these problems are typically problems you would not see until april because of all the warm moist air to the east and coming from the south and that cold air from the rockies, is

that clash of air masses we don't see until april, that is why the outbreak so early in the season. 51 at bwi marshal, 50 oakland, 48 ocean city. it is about 14 degrees cooler today than this time yesterday. and we do have some changes headed into the weekend. for more on that send it out to marty, hey martin. >> tim, thank you very much. good afternoon, everybody. the same low powering the potential severe weather outbreak out to our southwest and west today is going to bring us rain tonight and take a look at the graphic. it is going to be moving away from the region tomorrow. that is going to set up a pressure gradient which is going to bring gusty winds to the east coast. the real vortex is north of the mason dix on line. breezy here though. just when you think cold air is getting ready to come back down

signed with a pencil. not with ink, we going to erase it. >> a petition to put it on the november ballot has been approved by the board of elections. opponents need 56,000 signatures. >> the people deserve to vote on this bill and we want to make sure they have that opportunity in november. >> supporters admit there is a long road ahead. >> it is going to be an uphill battle. i mean it is going to be a tough fight. people believe strongly on both sides of the issue. >> if it comes to referendum we feel confident. >> same sex couples can get married beginning january 1st, jessica. >> opponents will need to turn in enough signatures by the end of june to put that up for a vote. new details are released about the victims in the jerry sandusky child sex abuse scandal. according to new documents, he molested eight out of the 10 victims on the pane state campus, they range from 8 to 17. the former coach is also accused of abuse infra and

texas. prosecutors claim the assaults took place from 1996 to 2009. the man known as the east coast rapist admits to several of his crimes. aaron thomas admitted to police that he raped two teen trick or treaters in virginia in 2009. thomas also reportedly complained that a police sketch of him in accurately portrayed his looks. police believe thomas is responsible for rapes and other attacks on 17 women from virginia all the way to connecticut. at least four of those crimes took place here in maryland. under fire, baltimore city schools are making headlines for something spending habits. ron matz is live with the story. good afternoon. >> good afternoon, jessica. according to our media partner the baltimore sun the city school system spent more than $14 million on employee overtime over the last 4 years, the biggest earner was for the driver of ceo a lon so, he doubled his $76 thousand salary

with overtime. the city school board says the education profession can't be considered a 9:00 to 5:00 but says they need to exam sign overfinal costs. school officials say the overtime costs are mostly tied to student safety. jessica, back to you. >> ron, thank you. reporting live in the newsroom. please stay tuned tonight at 5:00 and 6:00. weijia jiang has complete coverage of the overtime controversy. police in baltimore can no longer ask a person about this citizenship. this morning the mayor signed an executive order in response to a controversial federal immigration policy implemented last month that would require federal agencies to check the immigration status of people booked in local jails. many fear the program will discourage witnesses and victims from reporting crimes. cherry blossoms will soon be popping up in our nation's capitol and plans for a centennial celebration are underway. the trees are expected to peak between march 24th and 31st. the unseasonably warm winter

classes resume today at the ohio school where three students were shot and killed earlier this week. students and their parents marched back to chardon high school yesterday morning as a sign of solidarity. the alleged shooter was charged with three counts of aggravated murder in juvenile court, prosecutors say there is still a chance he will be tried as an adult. a man drives his car on to a runway at the airport. police say the man intentionally crashed his suv through a security gait and down drove down one of the main runways, the incident closed down the airport for 30 minutes and forced a plane to abort landing. the driver is facing a number of charges, including driving under the influence. a brutal fight caught on

tape during a protest at the university of california santa cruz. it happened after a man confronted a group of students protesting tuition prices. the dispute escalates as several students attack the man as he begins walking away. police say no one was seriously injured. bank of america customers could be headed for another fee fight. just months after a 5 dollar debit card fee was rejected the banking giant is looking at other ways to boost their bottom line. it would require customers with basic checking accounts to pay a monthly fee unless they keep a minimum balance or bank on- line. you can skip the fee if you have a bank of america credit card or mortgage. still ahead on wjz eye with the news at noon, the skies are clear on this friday but are rain clouds headed our way? find out in your first warning weather forecast and here is a look at today's midday stocks and last night's winning lottery numbers. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,

by overnight hours rumbles of thunder. this is the result of warm moist air ahead of it on the eastern side, cold air from the rockies and a strong jet stream kind of spinning it all up, creating rotation and we are getting the thunderstorms april the tornadoes as a result. so this is something that we are going to be watching through the evening. right now 51 degrees at bwi marshal. that is our temperature. 30 your dew point, 44% humidity, a southeast 10 wind at 10 miles an hour, 50 at oakland, 51 at the airport and 49 there. those are your currents in those locations. southeast winds coming in bringing moisture but also mild air. 18 mile per hour winds in haggerstown, 10 at the airport, 13 elkton, winds winds pick up

through the afternoon. look at the temperatures around memphis and atlanta. this is the line where the thunderstorms are taking hold. it is right along that lane, right around the kentucky and tennessee valleys we are starting to see all that start to fire up. we may have rumbles of thunder before the overnight horse are over and done but by tomorrow morning it all starts to clear out. this rain continues to progress right on through and again we do not expect to see the severity there but the low is going to move through, cooler air behind it and as that moves through next week starts to chill down. so 56 today, look for showers late and then tonight 49 degrees. we will talk about the next 5 days coming up here in just a moment. >> tim. thank you. we have breaking news right now. sky chopper 13 is over the scene of a water main break. captain mike perry joins us with the latest. what can you tell us? >> reporter: this is in the timonium area on seminary
