days after the scathing misconduct indictment against county executive john leopold. some citizens are fed up too after the state prosecutors lured allegations that leopold security detail was driving him to sexual encounters and keeping tabs op his lovers and political opponents. >> i'm losing faith in our elect odd officials time and time again. not just an elected official but grown adult man, person, needs to have acode of behavior, that doesn't include having sex in a parking lot. >> reporter: leopold appearsen phased, his office sent wjz a picture of him, business as usual. leopold told us chief ray and tier, done an excellent job of maintaining public safety despite fiscal challenges and they will continue to do so with the understandsing that the county must live within its means. the county executive does have his supporters. >> he should be given his day

halloween point road. the residents includes twins and a boy. a resident of the trailer had allowed the car to be used by someone else several weeks ago. it is not clear how the baby died, autopsy is conducted by maryland's medical examiner. no arrests have been made in the case. baltimore gun distribution ring is busted up. federal and local authorities charged three people following a raid. wjz is live, weijia jiang has more on what the arrests mean. >> reporter: detectives say it was one man arrested on a hands gun charge in january, that led them to the dangerous operation. now they are aggressively looking for others. a massive gun distribution ring, busted in baltimore city. >> this this individual was responsible for putting weapons on the streets. we have him in custody. >> reporter: 34-year-old keith james, 24-year-old jessica and

34-year-old ronald face a federal indictment. on thursday, police raided four homes and a storage facility linked to the trio. a woman living on the same block as one of the houses is relieved, though not surprised. >> i think in any part of town, you got the money, if you got the money, you can get the right connection, it's a number's game. >> reporter: investigators seized 16 weapons and ammunition. two ounces of raw heroin, $8000 in cash, and bullet proof vests. on the street it would have brought in 30 grand. police have not confirm where the guns came from but many are smuggled in. the investigation started after the commissioner sat down with wjz for an in depth interview to talk about what he calls the root of crime. >> a preview of the tactics used in the case. >> our strategy on gun enforcement is break apart the

making medical marijuana legal. big names pushing for a bill in the house. pat warren has the latest on the debate. >> reporter: that's right. this could be another heart breaker for supporters of medical marijuana, that's because this time it's the state and not the patients afraid of breaking the law. instead of looking forward to the future, 21-year-old philip wagner is fighting for it. last area diagnosed with stage four neuro neuroblastoma, he found himself in court for using marijuana to help him eat. >> it was a traffic stop. i was on my way home from a friend's house and pulled over and there was marijuana in the car. i wasn't under the influence, i was trying to get home. >> reporter: williams returns to the general assembly to try

to run in another race this weekend , the shamrock 5k. it's fun to be out there, to be a part of it. >> reporter: through the help of athletes serving athletes. david started the group six years ago, since then, he is partnered with several schools for special needs students to get them racing. it takes work to get james across the finish line. >> reporter: one is 13-year-old james banks. they began racing five years ago, so far they have run 5 marathons and a half dozen triathlons together and on sunday, they will run again in the shamrock. >> how excited are you? >> these opportunities would not be accessible to them without athletes serving athletes. >> reporter: amanda is james' teacher and races with students too. >> it helps them become confident and independent and excited to be around people. >> reporter: five students will compete in the shamrock race. the training began weeks ago

jack and nutmeg just joined the family. penguins born 2.5 months ago at the maryland zoo in baltimore, they grow up fast because they have to. >> from the time they hatch out of their egg to the time they are 3 months old, they are considered fully grown and leave their parents. >> reporter: classic black and white coloring will appear next spring, they love microphones and everyday is an adventure. >> it's hard to have a bad day around them. they are always doing something funny to amuse you. it's great to have a hand in helping to propagate endangered species it's very rewarding. >> reporter: they have 52 penguins, some made friends with the newest members of the family. >> we will bring some of the juveniles in which are friendlier, once they get use to the juveniles we will bring the nicer adults in. >> reporter: they joined two other penguins born in

up. denise koch is standing by. >> reporter: high profile war of words, baltimore's mayor in a dispute with jada pinkett smith. three homeless men are hailed as heroes after they helped put a criminal behind bars in florida. police were called in to a mcdonald's after a man was caught trying to steal a man's backpack. a deputy tried to handcuff him but the suspect reacted violently and three homeless men jumped in to subdue the suspect. >> they are phenomenal. they didn't have to get involved and they did. they made a great choice to assist and take a violent criminal off the streets. >> the suspect was taken to jail and held without bond. still to come on wjz, eye
