nine children and three women. several others were wounded not far from a u.s. base in after fan stan. >> u.s. forces are providing the highest level of care for those injured. >> reporter: cbs has learned the suspect was on his first tour of afghanistan but had served prior tours in iraq. they called it an assassination and said the shooting cannot be forgiven. nato is working to help find out what happened. the shooting could not have come at a more sensitive time for u.s. after fan relations. pensions just started to ease. that incident sparked weeks of

widespread anti american protest across afghanistan that left dozens dead. there's concern now this latest event could trigger new protest and more bloodshed. >> the name of the soldier in custody has not been released as of yet. we have breaking news a college park student has been released for threatening a student. he's identified at 19 year old alex from fulton in southern howard county. according to police he made numerous violent comments on the internet saying i will be on a shooting rampage tomorrow on campus and saying hopefully, i kill enough people to make it on the national news. tonight we've learned he's in custody and undergoing a psych at rick -- psychiatric

evaluation. >> reporter: a lot of times robbers will just point a gun and demand money but the fbi says this robber is actually pulling the trig around hah that has -- trigger and that has labeled him a target. in the video you can see he pulls out a silver handgun and points it at the cashier and that's when the suspect goes behind the counter. police say that's when he fired a single shot and made off with cash from the register. police believe the robber was one of two suspects last seen in late february robbing another rural farm store. in that case, the fbi says the same suspect shot a consist -- customer in the chest.

>> there's always people here so you would think that kind of thing wouldn't happen. >> reporter: police say the robbers made off with cash and cigarettes but they say it's this man they consider violent. he's in the range of 35 years old and 200 pounds wearing a black coat with a hood. >> reporter: they're offering a 2500-dollar reward for information that helps crack the case and leads to the arrest of the suspect. >> anyone with information is told to call 410-265-8080. japan marks the one year anniversary of the deadly earthquake and tsunami that killed nearly 22,000 people. today mourners released

floating lanterns in the memory of the dead. survivors in the nuclear plant wore protective suits. actors are taking center stain in -- center stage. they're all part of an international effort to aid the theater district in japan. >> theaters around the world are going to be holding events to benefit the theater community in japan effected by the disaster. >> the event is called theaters for japan. theater communications group or tcg is the organizer. >> they put together a series of short plays that they made available to theaters to do readings of. we have decided to do something

ship. a 47 year old woman had abdominal pains and needed medical attention. the chopper hoisted her and her husband off the deck of the ship. her condition is unknown. a macive man hunt ends in washington state and 34 year old steven has been arrested. he's accused of stabbing a judge and shooting a deputy before running away. a tip from his own mother led to his capture. >> you never know who's next door. >> police say they don't know why he was at the courthouse in the first place and his motive remains unclear. massive closures on the way for post offices across the country. how they are fighting back. >> we just want to get the mail out. >> reporter: these protesters

are home owners, business owners that always say the mail is late. >> there is one day in the week i don't get mail at all. >> reporter: they call this demonstration a fight back because the u.s. postal service shut down this processing plant in frederick last year. >> i'm sure there's changes in the postal service but they don't have to do things this extreme. >> last year they down sized or closed postal offices. >> the postmasters plan the implemented. the service delays, the lack of manpower and if he gets rid of all the employees he wants to, that's no way to save a business. >> reporter: more than 120 of the offices set to close are in maryland and virginia. >> we see a lot of hazards to

our customers and this is not about us necessarily, it is because we're going to lose your jobs but this is about our customers. >> the postal service says its proposed cuts will save about $200 million a year. >> and the postal service says it is on track to cut cost by $20 billion by the year 2015. check out this new video from a deadly tornado in kentucky. here you can see debris flying everyone in this video that was rolling. the winds reached up to 165 miles an hour last week and the video you can see how the twister knocked down trees and moved cars and here leveled some of the homes ripping the siding right off them. six people were killed in this particular twister and nearly 600 people lost their homes.

clean up efforts are still underway. it's going to take a long time isn't it? >> it really is. we haven't started our severe weather season and that's what they've already seen. those kinds of videos can really help advance the science of the weather. for us, we have nothing like that going on. it's absolutely spectacular out there today. 52 is our average. we're going to be so far above this entire week you're going to forget what the average is. looking closer and showing you everyone still pretty mild out there at least in the 40s. now, the winds turned around to the south are light tonight and will continue to bring warm our air way. it's still 60 degrees in chicago and that's going to continue to move in our direction. we have a front coming through but when the front gets out of

here, it's going to go way off to the north and so far north, this is more of a summertime pattern, it's going to keep us on the warm side of everything. the storms go out to the west and showers and thunderstorms and here's the center twirling around. it's off to the north and over us. what that means is we'll see some clouds during the day tomorrow. tomorrow night into tuesday the chance for showers and maybe a couple of thunderstorms on tuesday. then the whole front lifts over us on tuesday so it doesn't really cool us down. it's going to draw warmer air our way. wait until you see some of the numbers. out on the water, monday afternoon winds pick up out of the south. tonight seasonably chilly. 34 degrees and tomorrow we are going up to 68 and we continue to climb. we're in the 70s tuesday and 70s most of this week. adam. >> i have a feeling people will
