throws at this tick time but i still think they got the game under control but they got to play with much more energy and get past the melo thing and play with more energy because it won't work against kansas state. >> kenny: i don't even think it was the melo factor not having him, i think this was the perfect picking for u.n.c. asheville playing against a zone with good guards, guards who have been in the tournament consecutive years, they know how to get it done, if they come back and win this game this will be a miracle game that you will be watching for years and years to come but i thought that the talent level would eventually override and it has with syracuse. >> greg a.: that was the issue. in reality, if you're syracuse, your inability to score the basketball. 30 points in the first half, scoop jardine and kris joseph combined -- >> ernie: a golden moment.

>> kenny: it's silver now, ernie -- now it's gold again. >> ernie: how about u.n.c. asheville, the -- >> greg a.: syracuse doesn't have a point guard. they play in the backcourt with triche and jardine. they're in essence two guards so at times they don't always make the kind of decisions you want to have your lead guard make and i think that also disrupts them defensively. >> kenny: all that said, they have been the best basketball team throughout the country with melo and without him in my estimation but i still feel -- i keep going back and harping on this, is that the zone allows inferior teams to be around. not that it's going to allow them to beat you, they have the ball down six, two possessions with enough time to make it even more interesting.

personal information. that some came from statewide criminal databases. >> reporter: anne arundel county executive john leopold is accused of using his police security detail as his own private investigators on political opponents, collecting thick files on the county dime. >> what bothered me was when he went after my son and members of my familiful. >> reporter: carl snowden says it further erodes trust in leopold, following the county indictment that he misusing power. >> i think citizens of anne arundel county are going to be demanding to know, how extensive was this particular surveillance camera campaign? >> it's beyond appalling. and it's a complete perversion of the political process, compiling information about your political opponent, is not official law enforcement business. >> the information included criminal records, medical records, real estate records, and news reports. >> reporter: and it also has the police chief under fire,

over concerns he order the officers to search state criminal databases on mr. leopold's behalf. >> we need to know what the chief of police knew and when he knew it. >> the chief of police himself was aware of what was going on and did nothing to stop it. and it say that that -- to say that that is shocking is an understatement. >> reporter: leopold has denied any wrongdoing. >> reporter: and in the past, he's told wjz, the truth will come out in court. he did not respond to our request for comment today. reporting live, mike hellgren, wjz eyewitness news. >> mike, thank you. the aclu is requesting even more files than it believes the county executive ordered on other politicians and their families, both democrat and republican. a plane is forced to make an emergency landing at bwi marshall airport. the single-engine aircraft collapsed this afternoon. the two people on board escaped without injury. just a short time later, police responded to bwi for an unruly

passenger on a different plane. they escorted a man off a southwest airline flight and took him into custody. we're working to get more details for you right now. >> an unusual accident causes a fire and big delays on the beltway this morning. this morning, a load of hay in the back of a tractor-trailer went up in flames. the mess blocked the entire outer loop on i-65, near green spring avenue. sky eye chopper 13 is over the scene as baltimore fire crews spray the hay with water and use shovels to clean it up. no injuries are reported. president obama comes to maryland to try to cap the political fallout. the president spoke out about his energy policies in prince george's county today. ♪ [ music ] >> reporter: as president obama told the maryland crowd at prince george's community college that drilling is not the solution to driving down high gas prices, the price of gas crept up at a baltimore gas station to just off 5 cents off

the $4 mark. gop candidates are blaming the president for the sharp rise in gas prices. wjz pump watch shows the national average for a gallon of regular is at $3.82. that's up a penny from yesterday. president obama said any politician who offers a quick solution to cheap gas isn't telling the truth. >> there is no such thing as a quick fix when it comes to high gas prices. there's no silver bullet. anybody who tells you otherwise isn't really looking for a solution, they're trying to ride the political wave of the moment. >> reporter: the president told the maryland crowd that the u.s. actually is producing more oil than at any time in the past eight years. >> reporter: but that still isn't bringing down prices at the pump. so will president obama pay come election day? >> maybe he could be doing more. >> you know, he is the president at this time, i would imagine that he may have some kind of influence on what happens with the oil. >> no way is it obama's fault.

give you some perspective. although it is still winter, the countdown is on, five days until cald spring, we are -- calendar spring, we are still way above the normal high temperatures. normal high is 53. we have been in the 70s. we're here with cherry trees and magnolias back behind it. and another gorgeous day shaping up. but for another rook -- look at this forecast, we send it in to bob. >> these trees and shrubs are blooming 3 to four weeks ahead of when they normally would. take a look at temperatures. we got a little cooler today because the winds came off the bay in the ocean. we're at 69, just southwest of us, d.c., 78. 78, hagerstown. 52. look at that. much cooler down on the ocean. 70, pax river. actually, to a record set, dulles got to 84 degrees today. west of d.c. washington got to a record 82 degrees this afternoon. locally, west of town, it's warmer. 75, 78. 69, 68, 68, 68.

64 right now. pretty chilly, considering how warm it's been to our north. east winds. and that east wind will keep us in -- that's called slightly cooler air over the last few days. but looks like another shift to the southwest coming in. tomorrow, back up in the 70s. and there will be a risk of scattered shower activities. a little disturbance over the ohio valley that is causing showers in ohio, west virginia and southern portions of virginia this afternoon. a lot of it is drying up. but you can see, it is kind of drying up. most of the activity will pass to the south. just a little line of sprinkles to the west of us. and later tonight and tomorrow, however, there will be a better chance. and we do need the rain, of scattered shower activity. looks like the winds go back to the south and southwest. should get us back up about 5 or 6 degrees warmer than we were right now, this afternoon. we got into the low 70s. airport officially got to 73. yesterday, remember, we were up to 80 degrees. so here is the warm air. but that little shot of cool air, coming right behind that
