are casting their votes in today's primary. >> the role maryland is blaying in the republican race for president. >> hello again i am jessica kartalija. >> and i am don scott. >> and here is what people are talking about today. it is decision day as people head to the polls and those could have a big impact on the presidential campaign trail. wjz is live with northwest baltimore, pat warren has more. good afternoon. >> reporter: good afternoon. we are off to a slow start this presidential primary day but that is to be expected when it is a presidential primary and the incumbent democrat is running unopposed. even if your polling place is not crowded there are committed voters out there. >> it is important for me to come and vote because it is my democratic right. and i always be here whenever it is time to vote. >> with early voting there has been plenty of time. >> i think that determination a

direction this country is going to go right now is crucial and i think it is important to vote for the people that believe in what i believe in. >> as a state maryland is expected to take the direction of democrat barack obama but this day for republican presidential candidates is all about the delegates, bob urlich heads romney's campaign. >> given the attention, the rally, the polls, the media coverage, particularly the national coverage and the importance really of tuesday, much higher than normal. >> marylanders will also decide senate and congressional candidates today so as the governor said when he voted. >> while there are some that say not every election is as important as other elections the truth is every election is important, each of us needs to come out and vote. >> now maryland has 27 -- 37 republican delegates to send to the national convenience and that is what everybody has

their eye on today. pat warren, now back to you. >> thank you. wjz just spoke with the state board of elections turnout across the state is low, only 25%. the lowest is in anne arundel county. stay with us for complete coverage of campaign 2012. we will continue to bring you the latest on candidates and have today's primary results tonight on eyewitness news. wjz is following breaking news out of the eastern shore, police mobilized in kent county after receiving several schools -- or after, yes, several schools received bomb threats there. it happened this morning in chestertown. police say all 7 schools received a similar threat. they have not found devices. all the schools have been evacuated but nothing have been discovered. we will keep you updated on the still developing story. >> there will be big changes for the next election, it has

been delayed for a year. they have realigned it with the presidential voting schedule. supporters say it will boost turn out and save money. it moves the next election to novembero 2016. wjz is learning more about the local woman who claims to have the megamillions ticket. ron matz is more with merelandi veryrandi wilson. >> reporter: good afternoon, rumors continue to swirl. she claims she does indeed have the ticket and is still trying to make sense of what is happening. that ticket is one of three that hit the record breaking jack both but its already coming with controversy. the new york post is reporting that wilson wept in on a lottery pool with her co- workers and is now refusing to split the money. wilson acknowledges that she participated in the pool but says the winning ticket was the one she purchased separately.

don, back to you. >> all right. thank you, ron, wjz just checked with the lottery and they say whoever bought the winning ticket has still not come forward. >> charges could be filed against a man accused of killing and wounding people in california. police say the suspect is being cooperative and talking about why he snapped. bigad shaban reports now. >> reporter: the university is closed while investigators scower the scene of a rampage, wools say the suspect, one goh was a nursing student two months ago. they believe he was expelled. >> he was upset pat the administration for the way he has been treated, he was having -- when he was a student here in prior months he was having behavioral problems, anger management issues. >> reporter: the police chief say he was looking for a female administrator, when he could

not find her he opened fire on students witnesses say he entered one classroom and told students get in line, i am going to kill you all. he was driving by when he saw an injured man. he captured the shots in the cell phone. >> when the shot rang out i got down i wasn't trying to get in no cross fire or none of the above. >> reporter: police say he was upset because others teased him about his english and appears to have planned it for several weeks. he surrounded peacefully at a supermarket three miles away but police still have not found the gun. >> this the kind of incidents that hurts the whole community and will leave the community asking questions for a long time. >> classes at this small christian university are cancelled until further notice. bigad shaban, cbs news, oakland, california. >> the university was founded 10 years ago, classes are taught in korean and english to fewer than 100 students, a

player vigil is planned tonight to honor them. >> baltimore county police are asking for help finding the driver who killed a student. it hit ryan bailey as he was crossing the road. the only vehicle description is that it is an older silver and white boxy car, tonight a vigil will be held for him and tim koier. in in anne arundel county there are calls for the chief to resign. last night he told the council he saw his boss breaking the law, helping john leopold access information on his political opponents and others. as a result the council will vote on a resolution asking leopold to suspend his chief. >> don't be surprised if you hear loud blasts near the aberdeen proving ground. they are conducting tests that will generate several large

into our neighborhoods right now and set us up for what is going to be a delightful easter holiday weekend. those details coming up shortly but now back to you. >> thank you very much. it may be the third day of april but march madness didn't come to an end until last night when the wildcats won their 8th straight national title -- or their 8th title. kentucky jumped it to a big lead. anthony davis had a big night. kentucky went on to win 67-59. and while the school has been there before it is the first national title for head coach john calipari. as we countdown to the opening day last night's win could have a big effect. it seems every time kentucky has been won the national title the yankees have won the world series but of course first you have to start the season which will happen here on friday. it begins at 2:00 p.m.

jet blue pilot who mad a meltdown last week remains behind bar, clayton osman went before a judge yesterday and was ordered to stay in jail until a hearing on thursday, last week he began screaming about bombs during a flight until he was restrained by attendants and passengers, he is now facing charges of interfering with a flight crew. >> a frightening accident in norway as two trucks fall off of a snowy cliff. it was all caught on tape. take a look at this. the tractor-trailer was towed and goes over the guardrail take in the tow truck with it. the tow truck driver jumped out but the truck driver was

hospitalized by several broken bones. a bad day for a superhero when he finds himself on the other side of the law, the bar harbor batman also known as christopher short pulled an april fools joke, he posted i demand payment of 1 million dollars or i will blow up the hospital. in less than an hour police arrested him. he says it was all in good fun. >> people are taking it serious on line and i am like why would it be you know real and i wasn't laughing like ha ha look at these guys they are fools, they think it is real. i was laughing because you know it is absurd. >> okay. schwartz is out on bail and will return to court in june to face terrorizing charges. he has left a new facebook apology for all of his actions. >> if you live in howard county are you probably among the healthiest people in this state according to a new study. researchers ranked the healthiest counties in each state based on several factors,

the day has heated up quite nice with sunshine, 61 on its way to a high of 67, 27% humidity, a west-northwest breeze at 10. those are your current temperatures. there is just literally not a cloud within a nine hour drive of baltimore. some moisture is going to swing near the area but we are more concerned about is that area of low pressure i showed you that is going to drag some rain our way. much of its moisture stays down south and we are going to cut off this cool and dry flow. i am going to show you how. with an area of low pressure dragging a warm front our way. we stall that cool dry flow but it is one of these bang-bang
