looming large over the area just south of dallas-ft. worth. police say that at least two touched down, causing damage. the twister scattered tractor- trailers across the parking lot. and even lodged some of them in trees. >> a large, extremely dangerous and potentially deadly tornado has been confirmed. >> reporter: drivers moved on wet roads while radio reports warned of on coming danger. the heavy clouds hanging over the highways, the visibility was severely reduced. >> i have a tornado on the ground. >> reporter: the storm up rooted trees, tearing off parts of roofs. the pipes near snapped, spilling water when part of the structure collapsed. neighbors stood outside in the area, looking at the damage. schools are holding students, until the weather passes. police say there is considerable damage south of ft. worth and dallas. wjz eyewitness news. and first warning weather coverage continuing with meteorologist bernadette woods, tracking the storms on live

doppler radar. and that damage also went north of the city, as that is where the storms moved. we'll take you back, looking at the doppler radar, the main line of storms is now east of dallas. but when it moved through dallas earlier, producing a couple of tornadoes they were very large and very damaging tornadoes. you already saw some of the damage. and that was just on a couple of hours ago, there is a lot more unfortunately that will probably come out in the next 24 hours, what we'll do is take you closer, show you the exact tornadoes when they pass through. notice that was some black, even white that popped up. indicating massive sized hail. it was the size of baseball -- can you just even imagine that? and another thing, too, as the storms passed through, there was video that came out in the texas ranger stadium, mike napoli, the catcher had it. there were a lot of people affected by it. not quite over because the severe weather may have left dallas but it is moving to the

east and continuing. all right thank you, we'll update you on other breaking news, a large brush fire near the bay bridge. sky chopper was there a short time ago, you can see the flames burning away the dry marsh area. and a bomb scare, every public school in one maryland county evacuated for the threat. a note taped to the door warning of explosives in each school in kent county. more from chestertown with more on what police found. >> reporter: that note that is throughout the county was found right outside this school taped to a door. and police say it was a simple note written on paper just like this one. but the words were explosive. saying that every school in the system would be blown up. police call it one of, if not the biggest bomb threat to ever target maryland schools, a single handwritten note sending the parents across kent county into a panic. >> earlier the teachers found a

note on the side of the door, saying that there was a bomb not only in that school but in the other kent county schools, that would go off today. >> reporter: around 8:00 this morning, the 7 public schools and three private schools in the county were all evacuated, as bomb detection k-9 teams looked through each one. >> i was standing out in the freezing cold, and we had to stay out there for a long time -- >> as soon as we got off the bus we had to go to the track and go all the way back. and then everybody was calling their parents. it was very much chaos. >> reporter: the usually quiet town saw activity -- this person was taken over by a new found fear for her grandchildrens' lives. >> that is crazy, why threaten the children? used to be the only thing you had to worry about was get ago lock, now you have to worry for your life when you go to school. you don't know what is going to happen next. >> reporter: it took dozens from across the state from as

far as prince george's county to inspect the school. but parents say they can't shake thoughts of the worst. >> my kids go to that school every day. like i have two kids in school. so it is like can i even send them to the schools? >> reporter: right now police are going thank you surveillance through surveillance video to try to answer. now even making a fake threat is a felony that could send somebody to prison for 10 years. and if this is a child making a prank, they will face juvenile charges. eyewitness news. and all after school activities in kent county are cancelled for the night. life in prison, without the chance of parole, the sentence for a man who murdered a 15- year-old baltimore teen. parish murdered jason madison, stuffing his body in a closet in the home. pairs pearceparish has a long

millions winner is still a big mystery. and the single mother of seven in south baltimore who claims she got the ticket has yet to claim the cash. wjz is live outside her home. mike hellgren has more on the interview and why she is creating international buzz. >> reporter: i just talked to her about five minutes ago. she came out and asked the media to leave her alone. she said that her sister said her kids would like to come out and play. and she was sick of all the watching her. but she did not yet produce the winning ticket. >> i was so shocked, i said -- well, i have -- >> reporter: the mystery lady, single mom wilson all smiles in the new york post, claiming she won the big prize. now she seems confused. >> for me, i'm shocked myself. i am so shocked right now. >> reporter: you're in shock because you believe you won, or because you said -- >> it is -- -- >> reporter: you think you

would -- >> reporter: during a new interview in her home in south baltimore she wouldn't produce the winning ticket. >> and i'm not going to tell you -- >> reporter: okay. >> until i'm sure it is wise. >> reporter: the new one is here at lottery headquarters, we can confirm ms. wilson has hired a lawyer. the maryland lottery officials got attention from around the world and say they're no closer to identifying the winner. >> one of the worst things that can happen is for somebody to say the winning ticket was claimed, only to have the actual holder of the ticket to be confused and maybe throw away the ticket. >> reporter: to make it more complicated, her co-workers are loving it. they say the winning ticket is part of a pool and they want to share. wilson claims the winning ticket is separate. the cash hers. >> reporter: whether she is the big winner or somebody else steps up sure makes an exciting story. >> reporter: you say it is your ticket -- does that mean --

an accident. >> we'll update you on the investigation. and a top commander inside the anne arundel police department calls on federal investigators to look into the investigation regarding the county executive. more on what appears to be a growing revolt against the county executive and police chief. >> reporter: well, first the rank and file officers through the union spoke out about the scandal. now we're hearing from one of the top leaders in the police department. just weeks after two anne arundel police unions issue a vote of no confidence and indicted county executive john leopold and police chief james teare, the second in command speaks pickuply for the first time -- publicly for the first time, supporting the rank and file. >> i believe that is a cry for help. >> reporter: and he wants that help to come from the u.s. department of justice. in a bombshell announcement, emerson davis says he called on justice officials to investigate allegations of misconduct and wrong doing with

the department, the allegations that stem from the county's criminal indictment last month. leopold is accused of making police officers assigned to protect him use the state's criminal data base to dig up dirt on his enemies, and making them drive him to sexual encounters in public parking lots. >> this is the biggest black eye we have had in the department in the 35 years i've been here. >> reporter: the union president applauds him for speaking out after police chief teare refused to answer questions about the department's involvement in the scandal. >> i don't want to break the law. >> reporter: stare ignored calls to step down. >> the only bad guy is the county executive john leopold. all this focus is on the police chief, and as long as the focus is on the chief, the county executive won't get rid of him. >> reporter: the department of justice tells wjz it is currently looking at the department chief's request for an investigation. wjz eyewitness news.

their 20th anniversary. the three acres of dark green kentucky blue grass has never looked better. a very warm winter also created a challenge, when it came to keeping that grass looking good. >> i was a little worried going into the winter, that the grass was not really going to go still like it has in the past. they finally started to take off. everything should be set. i was a little nervous. >> reporter: while sherry makes sure the field is ready, crews are working overtime to complete renovations that will improve the fan experience. with the new roof top deck and center field, and new statues for the hall of famers. and a new brew public along the utah street, bearing the name of the mvp rick dempsey. now i just spoke to a couple of the construction workers who say they stay out here as long as it is light. we should also mention that all of this dirt on the field comes from a local company out of

the christian college in oakland. investigators say the south korea man was a nursing student at the school, until he was sent out. >> he was having behavior problems, anger management issues. he faced expulsion from the school. >> reporter: this school helped immigrants from korea find religion and schools. the man came to look for an administrator, and when he kind find her, he changed his plan. police say that one l. goh took a secretary hostage, shot her later. >> i just heard the noise, she was asking for help, again and again, like -- there was nothing we could do about it. >> reporter: six women and one man were killed. daniel sim lost his sister, who was studying to be a nurse. >> she just -- was such a loving person. she didn't deserve to go this way. >> reporter: three other students who were wounded are now out of the hospital.

in oakland, teresa garcia, wjz eyewitness news. and police hope to present the case against one l. goh to the district attorney in the next couple of days, a memorial service is planned tonight for the victims. and trial continues for baltimore twin brothers charged with setting a pit bull on fire. she later died from the wounds, a judge sentenced the woman six months in jail for contempt of court. she testified in the first trial against the brothers, but wouldn't say why she changed her mind this time. and students taking on a four-legged friend with the hope of helping others. more on how you can help them. >> reporter: he is the big man on the mcdaniel college campus, and just like any other graduate? >> shake. >> reporter: hudson is here to kick off his career as an assistance dog. >> he is like a college

student. >> reporter: gabby brandau is part of the club raising the lab for the k-9's comparison's independence organization. >> when we receive the dog it is eight weeks old. we train them and teach the dogs that -- you know to sit down, shake, things like that apartment complex for 18 months hudson will live with them in student housing. and can be found walking on campus on any given day. the goal is to get him socialized and ready for advanced training. hudson is so well known around campus, a lot of people call him mcdaniel's unofficial mascot. >> everybody loves him and parents him every time they see him. >> reporter: but taking care of him is not cheap. >> we have to take care of his vet bills and food. if we get him groomed, we pay for it. >> reporter: they are holding a silent auction on campus to raise money. and despite their added responsibility, the puppy

. welcome back everybody, the start to the day, you needed your jacket, and these were the numbers, starting out at 32 at bwi marshal, 30s out there, in between the official reporting sites we did get down to the upper 20s. but with sunshine this afternoon, we are seeing 70s in baltimore, 70 in d.c. even. now with the highs so far today after starting out at 32 degrees, quite a swing. and way above average, once again we're going to stay at least for a couple of days here. winds turning around, bringing another front. most of the day we've seen nothing in the sky, clouds moving in this evening, as the front approaches from the west,

the showers, not that far away. this is the front coming from our direction, more clouds tonight. and looking at the showers through the overnight hours, tommorow as the front crosses over, a couple of showers are possible. but with this front also passing by we'll continue to draw up the warm air. we'll top out near 70 once again. then, on thursday -- all of that pushes off to the south of us. and that is very important, because that is how the weather pattern will stay for the next couple of days. there are two more storms coming later this week, but as we're in this weather pattern, we were forced to pass to the south, that is dry for the home opener on friday, heading into the weekend. the forecast is like this, northwest winds, about 10 knots starting to gust through the afternoon, small craft advisories in effect during that time. the forecast tonight, going down to the 40s, maybe a couple of showers as we head through the night then tomorrow a few showers around, still popping out at about 70 degrees. all of that moving away for

area, but so far no reported deaths. that is amazing considering the extent of the damage there. homes leveleds, big rigs tossed. there is still a danger of more storms tonight, vic? >> first warning coverage continuing with bernadette woods, tracking the difficult storms. >> that is right, we'll take you down the texas where we see a line of intense thunderstorms moving to the east of dallas. but all of northeast parts of texas, under the threat for tornadoes and damaging thunderstorms. we're going to take you back to what happened a little bit earlier, immediately around dallas, we'll produce the damage you saw. at least two tornadoes as mary said. probably more, we had a few more areas that looked like tornadoes on the radar, and some clouds people reported. there was one, one passed off to the north. you see where all of that was tossed up. areas of white, an indication

of hail. we have had hail reports up to baseball size. very -- very damaging situation, for immediate dallas metro area. but as you can see it will continue off to the east for the next two hours. >> all right, thank you. those tornadoes in texas could mark the start of a violent spring. you can't fight them, they say, but a new way to track tornadoes is coming. >> reporter: tornadoes look scary enough from a distance. but as they close in, so does the window of opportunity to survive. anything strong enough to toss a school bus is more than enough to kill. >> they're moving targets and quickly developing targets. >> reporter: dr. sullivan is the chief scientist for noah, which is building new satellites to track tornadoes as they develop. >> the important thing is to stop the clouds developing that are becoming super cells, and

republican frontrunner mitt romney is looking at a lead, but rick santorum is confident that voters want an alternative. >> reporter: mitt romney is shaking hands and handing out sandwiches in wisconsin. the g.o.p. frontrunner is encouraging voters to head to the polls, and help him deliver the knockout punch to his chief rival, santorum. >> if we have a good turnout then i will become the person who receives the wisconsin delegates that i need to go on to become the nominee and finally take back the white house. >> reporter: voters in washington, d.c. and maryland also are casting ballots. 95 delegates are at stake today. mitt romney led the polls heading into the round. he has been ignoring the g.o.p. opponents on the campaign trail in wisconsin and focusing on the fall matchup with president obama. >> this president doesn't want to take responsibility for his mistakes. >> reporter: just one victory tonight will put mitt romney past the half-way point in

. at least five people hurt in central florida when a plane crashes into a store. take a look at this,s the plane crashing -- the plane crashing near orlando, the witnesses say all the lights went out, the customers didn't know what happened until they made their way outside through the smoke. >> sounded like thunder, and then all of a sudden something kind of shook. then i saw the smoke coming out, little pieces of debris lying around, a large piece of aluminum. officials say the pilot and passenger are both being treated for burns. three customers were also taken to the hospital. and finding a job in the tough economy is challenging enough. but for adults with autism it can seem impossible. we look at one organization whose goal is to match autistic adults with a job helping this their special needs. >> reporter: mark is working at his dream job. as a member of the geek squad
