tornado outbreak -- touchdowns reporting from oklahoma up to minnesota. tonight, the damage, the death toll and the continued threats. >> >> a widespread trail of destruction. good evening, thanks for joining us, i'm adam may. thousands cleaning up after hundreds of tornadoes whip across five states. forecasters say we are not out of the woods, yet. manuel gallegas reports from hard hit woodward, oklahoma. >> >> reporter: the tornadoes came out of the sky so fast stomp trackers could hardly keep track. there are reports of at least

120 tornadoes from texas to ohio. one of them hit woodward, oklahoma in the middle of the night, killing several people. residents never heard warning sirens because the system was damaged by the storm. >> that's where my wife works and as you can see, this is what is left. >> >> reporter: he has lived here plenty of years and seen plenty of tornadoes but -- >> never like this. >> reporter: the tornado was so powerful it picked up this delivery truck and slammed it into this building and tor apart the entire steel and concrete structure. another one hitter this man, iowa, shattering buildings and ripped off the front of this home. >> i thought the house was going to go. >> >> reporter: only 250 people live in thurman and almost everyone suffered some kind of damage. most of the tornadoes hit open space, keeping destruction to a

"wjz," "eyewitness news." >> unfortunately, it's not over with, yet, bernadette woods, our meteorologist is tracking where the storms are, right now. bernadette? >> there are still three systems out there. we'll take you to first doppler radar. the center is over minnesota. you see the trailing line? a widespread severe weather threat for hail and gusty winds, not just tornadoes. the thing is this is so wrapped up there is snow on the northern side of minnesota right now and a tornado threat across the south. we'll stretch it over and show you as we head to the overnight hours, all of this moves further to the east. not as many reports at last night, last night, 122 tornado reports. still a lot of severe weather

going on. 10 reports of tornadoes, we'll keep you updated. that storm is moving our way, but -- stay with us for first warning weather 20 find forecast updates and live doppler radar at any time, log onto "wjz." com. >> >> a pretty close call when a train derails over a baltimore overpass. a norfolk southern train carrying 24 cars sending three of the cars and one of the engines off the track. some of them close to dangling over the bridge. the train company said no hazardous materials were onboard and no one was hurt, they are hoping to get the tracks cleared up >> the delays on the tracks are nothing compared to the delays you could see on the jones fall express way in a couple of hours. "wjz" is live near interstate 83. derrick explains if you can survive this morning's commute. we hope it's not that bad,

derrick? >> reporter: even with all of the lanes open, a normal morning commute can be really slow going and backed up. a lane closed tomorrow morning is not going to be pretty. tonight, the left lanes of 3 north and south near the 29th street bridge, already closed. the warning to expect delays already flashing and drivers already anticipating their morning commute. >> there was so much traffic -- >> it's going to be awful. >> reporter: lane closures are needed for critical repairs the city said can't wait. crushed underground pipes have created water backups and in turn, holes under the road. >> you know there is a void under there and if left unchecked it can become a sink hole. >> >> reporter: the lane closures will not be a few hours overnight or during the daytime. they will be around the clock. many downtown companies have warned their employees to lan plan ahead. >> wake up earlier, get to work

taliban launched coordinated attacks against nato bases and western embassies in the afghan capital. the assaults included gunmen and suicide bombers >> i think it's a manifestation that the taliban still has some strength. >> reporter: afghan security forces fired back using assault rifles and rocket propelled grenades. at least four of the rebels were captured. taliban spokesperson said the assaults are in retaliation for the u.s. burning korana and the killing of 17 civilians by an army sargeant. the u.s. ambassador to afghanistan said security forces have shown progress, but exercised the risk of an earlier withdrawal. >> to get out before the afghans have a full grip on

"wjz," "eyewitness news." >> >> 17 militants were killed in those attacks. >> >> meanwhile back here in baltimore, a fight turns deadly on the west side. now, police are looking for a gunman. police say 34-year-old michael phillip scott died after he was shot multiple times. witnesses say that scott knew his killer, who shot him in the back as he walked away during an argument. police say they are hoping to make an arrest soon. >> >> a brush fire threatens homes. the blaze broke out in a marshy area behind the holiday point marina in edgewater. it burned for a couple of

hours, but neighbors say they were watching in fear. >> my husband went out with the garden hose to try to keep all of the greenery here wet so it wouldn't cross the road. it came close to my neighbor's house. fortunately, we had a good turnout in fire departments. >> >> firefighters were able to contain and put owl the fire in the building. >> >> a baltimore county church intentionally set on fire. parishioners not deterred. tonight, gigi barnett reports on how the church is moving forward. >> >> members of the pleasant zion baptist church called the sanctuary a blessing. it's temporary shelter after a fast-moving fire ripped through their church days after easter services. this is the building, now and last week, fire investigators ruled the blaze an arson. >> they just go out and do anything.

>> we have the heat side of it. 86 degrees. the record is 88. so, we were close to that record, but not quite there. tomorrow, in most cases, we are going up a couple of degrees. now, sitting at 68 outside. 76 in dc. absolutely incredible out there. this is above our average high for this time of the year. winds pretty light out of the south. we could see some fog form overnight because of that. take a look down to the south. there is a heat -- here is the storm, the cold air coming in behind it, all of that warmth ahead of it and it looks like it on this graphic, it's that storm that is pumping up our heat and will continue through tomorrow before it comes crashing through our area. >> as far as severe weather goes, not quite as much as yesterday. still, the threat of tornadoes out there. the storm is not finished, yet. yesterday over 100 reports of tornadoes, today just 10.

it will continue through the night. any tornado can be damaging. it will be continue to move east. by the time it moves that way, it will keep on weakening. tuesday, when the cold front comes through maryland, only this chance of a showers and thunderstorms. we really need that rain. down to the south, another storm will follow for wednesday. for for the most part, it stays to the south. the further south you go, the better the chance you get, forecast comes together like this. small craft advisory in effect late monday because of the winds picking up once again during the day, tomorrow, it will be another warm wind. only dropping a few more degrees ton. it will be a warm one, tomorrow, going up to 88 for our forecasted high, the record is 90 degrees. i wouldn't be surprised, in some of the cars, that on your temperature thermometer on the dashboard, probably hitting 90 degrees here's our look for the next couple of days, cold front comes through, temperatures
