station. >> discoveries final flight. >> thousands what the shuttle in the sky over maryland at washington dc. >> hello again. i'm jessica kartalija. >> i'm don scott. >> here's what people are talking about. an amazing sight over the skies of maryland and washington dc as the stay shuttle discovery makes one final voyage area daniel nottingham reports from washington. >> reporter: space shuttle discovery glided piggy back past the washington monument and u.s. capital. spectators cheered as the shuttle flew overhead before touching down one final time in virginia. >> it was awesome. it was great. >> it was really neat to see. it was really great to be able to see it today. >> after a record 39 missions and nearly 143 million miles in

space, the most traveled shuttle is now permanently grounded. it will go on display at the smithsonian's air and space museum at the dallas international airport. >> it's so nice to be able to see them and that they are still around for everyone to see. >> discovery is replacing the shuttle enterprise here at the smithsonian. enterprise never made it into orbit and will have a new home in new york city. >> discovery took off mounted on top of a 747 at daybreak from the kennedy space center in florida. as the sun was rising, spectators lined the shore a long cocoa beach for one final glimpse of the history making spacecraft. it was discovery that carry the hubble telescope into orbit, and more astronauts than any other massive vehicle. in washington, daniel nottingham, wjz eyewitness news. >> nasa plans to eventually have three shuttles on display.

very bad, but it's surprising. >> there was a backup rate for 28 straight. it was not as bad as it usually is. >> the city shut down the leftmost lanes north and south area they need to repair underground takes before a potential sinkhole opens up on the highway. officials have suggested alternate routes in and out of downtown on some of the city's major roads, and it appears those alternates are being used based on the volume of traffic on the jfx this morning. drivers say those alternate routes are adding some extra time to their commute. >> it's normally a door-to-door commute being 20 minutes. it made 35 minutes this morning. >> many folks are turning to the mta to help avoid the delays. >> on days i don't have to have my car, i'm going to take the subway. >> with the lane closures expected to last eight weeks, drivers know they need to pack their patients. >> another live look at the jf x -- at the jfx where things are moving along on his main artery, but

questions about the scandal. lawmakers want him to leave office until the charges against leopold are resolved. investigators say that he used his police detail to dig up dirt on political rivals and drive into sexual encounters with his girlfriend. only leopold has the power to fire the appointed chief back in 2006. >> the ravens ray lewis under a subpoena requiring him to testify at a trial in cincinnati. webster faces charges he had sexual relationship with an under aged teenage girl. the only other connection between the two men was that they both attended the university of miami. cleanup continues and the death toll has stabilized from those midwestern tornadoes forget extents are cut blamed on the 75 plus twisters that touchdown destroying hundreds of homes. early warning system at work in most of the area is being credited

>> complete forecast and the first warning of severe weather. >> welcome back. here is the call to make in its way across the state right now. there is a chance for a sprinkle with it, but not a whole lot to this front. we are going to switch it over and tell you, sunshine earlier today with clouds coming in. not complete covering the state so we see a mix of sunshine and clouds as we had through the afternoon. it's also picked up the wins and they turn around to the northwest. that's bringing down temperatures from yesterday. look at this temperature swing. 20 degrees and come on, 27 degrees cooler in oakland, but it was so warm yesterday that it's still 71 in baltimore, 80 in ocean city. we've dropped to the 60s and the 50s in the mountains. even west of that there is cooler air. that will overspread the state tonight into tomorrow and then at the same time we watch for a

second storm system. so let's put that together. here is the front coming through right now with the cooler air. the second storm just onto the south traps that cooler air in place tomorrow and maybe bring us a couple showers. it will pass off to the south of us and it's going to be a close call area further south, the better chance of getting some rain out of this. the chance for a few showers or a little rain as it passes tomorrow. here is that cooler air coming in, the chance for a few showers tomorrow and it's out of here on thursday. there's another front to the west that comes our way this weekend. it will give us the best chance for rain that we've seen in some time. we'll keep you updated. the forecast looks like this. we talk out in the 70s with a couple degrees more and then tonight we start to drop. we go down into the 40s, and tomorrow we are still in the 60s but with more clouds around and a chance for a couple showers with that front passing to the south, and then we will have your five- day forecast coming up a little bit later that will take us into the weekend. >> i like this weather.
