counties to your neighborhood, now, it's complete coverage it's wjz maryland's news station. >> george zimmerman testifies at his bail hearing. what he said and the judge's decision if he he should go free. >> good afternoon here's what people will be talk about. the breaking news in the trayvon martin murder case. a judge in sanford, florida granted bond to george zimmerman. that coming after zimmerman stood up in court and apologized to martin's family. here's randall pinkston are the latest for wjz. >> reporter: murder suspect george zimmerman wore a suit and shackled as he walked into a sanford florida courtroom. in a dramatic move, at his bond hearing, the 28-year-old addressed the court. >> i wanteded to say i am sorry for the loss of your son. i did not know how old he was i thought he was a little younger than i am. and i did not know if he was armed or not. >> reporter: prosecutors questioned why he waited so

long to apologize for the shooting death of trayvon martin. >> why do you wait so long to tell them? >> i was told not to communicate with them. >> reporter: the neighborhood watch volunteer is charged with second degree murder for gunning down trayvon martin during a confrontation in february. zimmerman says it was stive defense. this was his second court appearance but his first time before a judge lester. the first judge stepped aside because of a potential conflict of interest. >> your relation to george zimmerman. >> i am his wife. >> reporter: the defense attorney called his mother, father and wife as character witnesses who testified by phone because of safety concerns. >> do you know george is a danger to the community? >> no i do not. >> reporter: prosecution asked zimmerman's wife about a past incident he had with law ep forcement. >> he say he was arrested and charged with various crimes battery of a law enforcement officer and obstructing

after more than two decades police arrest a man in the disappearance of his wife charging him with murder. wjz mike schuh is live with how they say they crack the case. good afternoon, mike. >> reporter: george bush the first one was president when police alleged robert jarrett began lying about what was in his backyard in elk ridge under concrete in his shed. remains of a woman who police believe is his wife christine jarrett. >> that's crazy. there was rumors around she was in the pool. >> reporter: around the time of her death, neighbors remember him in the shed pour agnew concrete floor. -- pouring a concrete floor. he reported his wife missing and they had marital problems and she got $4,000 before the disappeared from the bank. >> this was someone who cared about the community and had friends and family members and she was someone that we never forgot. >> reporter: police suspected

him but there was not enough evidence a tipster came forward and his second wife who liveshere without jarrett gave him permission to search in and around and under the shed. >> this is a case we knew it sounded suspicious. neighbors and friends told us it was a woman who wouldn't have left her children. >> reporter: as you might imagine it's shock to neighbors. >> a creepy kind of feeling that she may have been under the shed 21 years. >> reporter: coming tonight at 5 and 6, we will speak to a next door neighbor who suspected robert jarrett. mike schuh wjz "eyewitness news" now back to you. >> thanks. police suspect the body found ischristine jarrett they are awaiting confirmation. a fire in hagerstown claims a life and injuries three other people. she died after being trapped on the third floor and her father and husband and three-year-old daughter are treed for burns and smoke -- treated for burns

and smoke inhalation. a firefighter severely burned in a house fire two months ago is at home today. the volunteer sergeant is being discharged in about an hour. he is recovering there since february. he received second and third- degree burns battling a blaze. a fire later ruled an arson. in baltimore county a speed camera is the target of vandals. police say early this morning someone set fire to a recently installed speed camera on south rolling road in catonsville. no arrest has been made. investigators estimate the fire did 13,000 dollars in damage to that camera. two days ago until earth day. this sunday the inner harbor is getting help getting healthier. today 50 man-made floating wetlands will be placed in the harbor in front of the world trade center and join the original floating wetlands in place near piers 4 and 5. the wetland will naturally improve the water quality and provide

that's the activity that will impact us later. but nothing going on in the mid- atlantic except for a gorgeous day. that's changing heading into the weekend. for more now out to marty bass. >> thanks very much. good afternoon. on that photo you saw disturbance up over the great lakes. that's an area of low pressure that's going to play into our discussion. but what we want to show you on first warning doppler weather radar is gathering moisture over east texas, louisiana and arkansas. that is a developing area of low pressure. now, we have a couple graphics for you. by tomorrow, the low that's over the great lakes will be up over eastern canada. with that counterclockwise rotation, it is going to grab chilly air from over the eastern hudson bay james bay area and start to funnel it over the great lakes and towards the mid atlantic. by sunday, that chilly air is going to be in place in the low forming down near the gulf is going to be running along the stalled cold front pulled by the big low up over eastern

that will start fouling in moist -- pulling in moisture from the south. it will take a while to get here and your early plans tomorrow will be okay. the earlier the better he. but by mid afternoon into the overnight hours all bets are off. thunderstorms around as this front makes its way in. the showers ahead of it and it lingers so into saturday and maybe even into sunday we will have showers around but the real headline is going to be the amount of rain the next headline is the cooler temperatures. we are going to drop. keep in mind we are at 90 earlier this week. we will be down in the upper 50s heading into next week. sunset at 7:50 with a south wind at 5 to 10 knots. today 75 degrees. nice out there. overnight lows to around 52. call it a ray lewis overnight forecast and for tomorrow, 77 degrees. rain in the afternoon and martin bass will have the five- day forecast coming up in a moment. >> before the -- the rain is in the nick of time. because in a couple months it will get dry. >> yeah it will. and hot. >> and hot.
