would take help his second wife to help the mystery of his first wife, missing since 1991. >> she was fun, vivacious, full of life. >> reporter: not long after christine disappeared, saw concrete pouring in the shed but never had enough evidence to get a search warrant and while the case went cold, neighbor's suspicions never did. one determined detective never gave up and found out jared separated from the second wife and moved out of the house, detectives moved in and asked to search the shed. there, they found christine's remains under floor boards. they were 5 and 11 at the time and thought their dad killed their mom. one lives in the neighborhood, but we were unable to reach him for a comment. >> reporter: i comment -- i

look at the bird strike that forced a landing at jfk airport. the passengers on board the flight and the pilot's call for help. >> reporter: a harrowing few minutes in the air, the plane landed. passengers described as violent shaking followed by smoke seen in the cockpit. minutes after, the pilot radioed to air traffic control. >> there's an engine failure. an emergency landing due to a bird strike. >> reporter: striking footage of a flock of birds, shows at least seven birds probably ingested in the right engine. >> an emergency engine failure, request a visual return. >> reporter: a visual return would save precious seconds as he guided the crippled aircraft down. >> we'll head back in and just

return. >> reporter: september 27th was her last field hockey game. >> i actually don't remember anything. >> her mother will never forget. >> i asked my mom for my phone and my friends texting me telling me stuff like i had a seizure, i had a stroke or anything and then after i read, i asked mom, she said, no, you went into cardiac arrest. >> reporter: they performed cpr. >> they did an excellent job in saving her life. >> reporter: the lacrosse gave the dedication to brianna. the cardiologist said she was born with a rare heart condition. >> they identified the problem when the heart stops beating. >> reporter: cpr saved brianna life. >> the best gift is to know cpr. >> and brianna is proof of that. >> get this checked out because i was playing since i was three and we never knew about this until it actually happened.

the fire destroyed this motel in san antonio. more than 80 guests evacuated. planes coming from the second and third floors. roof collapsed on firefighters but all escaped injury. the cause of the fire not determined. a winding road in new mexico is the scene of a horrible accident. 43 people killed when a cargo truck and tour bus collide. most of the victims were farm workers. investigators believe the accident happened after the trailer separated from the truck. police say the driver of the truck fled the scene and still at large. a major clean-up on a chicago street after a car crashes in the front of the beauty shop. the car owner went inside leaving her friend and baby in the idling vehicle. next thing she knew, the car came in the store. the friend was left to explain what happened. >> i never drove a car in my life. trying to turn the car, it

chilly. 64, 59. it's going to stay mild because the winds are shifting. 66, 44, and the record is 94 and a chilly 27. the winds are back out of the south to keep it mild tonight. tomorrow afternoon, here's what's happening. to the west of us, shower and thunderstorm activity developing along this frontal boundary. breezy and chilly temps. a little snow in northern minnesota but that's moved off to the east and northeast. but more cold air filters in behind low pressure that's beginning to develop. this area of low pressure will head along the gulf coast, to the east coast this weekend which means we have a breezy sunday. the front is going to stall out right along the coast, which means we'll have a very good focus point for rain across the region. some areas see more than two inches of rain this weekend. believe it or not.

that's the good news. it looks like we'll break the drought. thundershower activity with it. could be some brief downpours, and the front slows down and the low pressure heading up the system gives us a good chance of an all-day rain on sunday. gets colder and breezy and some wet snow in the higher elevation areas. the bay temp around 57 tonight. partly cloudy to cloudy at times. 52 tomorrow. mostly cloudy. some sun in the morning and then a couple of the afternoon showers. in the region, a light rain begins tomorrow night and continues as late to moderate rain on sunday. low 50s, maybe a shower or two on monday. 57 and a little warmer, partly sunny on wednesday. looks like we'll be chilling the drought by the end of the weekend. >> thank you.
