george zimmerman is releasedunder the cover of night. attorneys fear for his safety. good afternoon and here's what people are talking about today. the man accused of killing the unarmed florida teen is out of jail today. george zimmerman walked out on bond overnight and his location is now a closely gared-- gared secret. here randall pinkston with the latest pour wjz. >> reporter: george zimmerman said nothing he's walks out of a jail. he appeared to be wearing a bulletproof vest under his jacket. zimmerman's attorney is keeping his client's location a secret. >> we have not had any active threats recently. but the concern is that there is such a ground swelling of opposition to mr. zimmerman's position or what they believe his position to be that we are concerned about it. >> reporter: zimmerman claims he shot trayvon martin in self- defense bro prosecutors believe he is -- believe -- but prosecutors believe he is dilly

"eyewitness news." >> besides the electronic monitoring device he has to check in every three days. and now that case is affecting a local trial involving neighborhood watch participants. ron matz is in the newsroom with more on why defense attorneys don't want the trial of eliyahu and avi werdesheim to start. >> reporter: it would come amidst concerns about high racial tensions. the brothers are accused of beating an being aan american -- askan american teen while patrolling a jewish neighborhood in 2010. they face multiple charges including assault them say they acted in self-defense. now defense attorneys say they want to postpone the case until the uproar over the trayvon martin case called down. they plan to ask for a change of venue, a judge will hear the motions on that matter tomorrow. don back to you. >> thanks very much. if convicted, they could face up to 13 years in prison. a new development in the beating caught on camera

outside a downtown courthouse earlier this year. police say they made a second arrest in that case. investigators say 20-year-old sheaona davis was one of those who beat and robbed a tourist in front of the courthouse east on st. patrick's day. she is expected in court today for a bail review hearing. 20-year-old aaron parsons is under arrest and remains behind bars in lieu of half a million dollars bail. ice and snow that's what western maryland is dealing with today. check out the scene along interstate 68 in kaiser ridge in western maryland. several inches of snow are blanketing the grass along interstate and route 219. but a live look at our area shows the rain is gone from the harbor a but there's a lot of clouds around. but, do you want to put your umbrella away yet? we have marty bass in the outback and meteorologist burnet woods watching the radar. first warning weather center. hello, marty and good afternoon bernette. >> good afternoon don and you don't want to put away the umbrella. first warning doppler radar

there is rain out there and scattered showers are possible throughout the afternoon. notice the pivoting going on sort of a circulation. that is because of the center of the storm slowly moving off to the north. it's going to be in our area generally speaking for the next day or so, and because of that, we still are under the influence of scattered showers and western maryland pulling down the cold air snow, yes, snow is coming down. now we have a couple graphics here. wjz drought watch continues to track the rainfall totals and this is what we have gotten from the storm. starting saturday through yesterday, today we could be adding to that but not as much as yesterday. see, two inches in bel air. 2.81 inches in easton and the lower eastern shore a few places got over 2 inches and notice southern parts of maryland over three inches. between a inch to two inch fell with the storm system and that really does cut into our deficit big time. for the month we are down 3/4 of an inch. for the year, it's underneath 4

inches. 3.88 inches. that really does help out the situation. of course on thursday is when the drought monitors are updated and we will keep you updated as we head through the week. the other part of this storm is cold. that's why we are seeing snow. and marty has more on that. >> i got news. i am sitting with my hand in the pockets and i am wearing gloves. let's take a look at numbers. i think it's a stunning part of this weekend and this day's weather. frankly whether it will continue here through midweek. that's going to be the change in temperatures from one week ago. it is 46 degrees now. and add to that on this 23rd day of april a breeze in the west northwest at 14 miles an hour. and, on this 23rd day of april we can throw a wind chill down. 40 degrees and look at that wind chill in oakland. 19 degrees i never thought i would talk about wind chills on the 23rd of april and never thought i would talk about 85 on the 7th of april either.

okay. it's been a year's worth of weather and the year is half done. so, when do we get rid of this rain? when does it actually start getting mild again? meteorologist burnet woods has details coming up shortly -- bernette woods has details coming up shortly. a three alarm blaze forced names from the homes overnight and cut off power to many others. wjz and monique griego are live this afternoon. >> reporter: good afternoon. it did take firefighters several hours to get a handle on the fire last night. and this morning, they are still here putting out several hot spots trapped inside all that debris. and we are told because of the hazardous materials inside the warehouse, the overall cleanup is going to take sometime. 8:30 last night, massive flames filled the sky over canton after a three-alarm fire. breaks out at warehouse in the 1200 block of bayless. >> it was flames every where. it started in one part and started escalating and

escalating and went through like the whole entire building. it was pretty -- it was epic. >> reporter: nearly 100 firefighters were called in to battle the flames. as they worked to a get things under control, heavy smoke forced 60 residents to evacuate their homes. >> i was afraid something would blow up. >> reporter: around 1500 homes lost power. thanks to torched power lines and a blown transformer. fire crews were also concerned with what was inside the warehouse. which is owned by the eastern plating company. >> the chemicals that they use an dealy basis are -- dealy base -- daily baseis are hardarous. >> reporter: today you can see how much damage was done to the -- hazardous. >> reporter: today you can see how much damage was done to the building. today firefighters spent the morning putting out hot spots that were trapped inside the debris. hazmat teams and the maryland maryland department of environment will team up to evaluate hazardous chemicals.

as for neighbors, they are praising the fire department who stopped the flames from spreading to homes. and at last check all by 16 homes have been power restored and because of the fire -- and the cause of the fire is under investigation and could take sometime to determine what started it because of how much damage was done. now back to you. >> thanks very much. a building inspector heading to the site to determine when demolition can begin. in washington, d.c. a marine is behind bars charged with murdering a fellow marine. it happened saturday morning near the marine barracks in southeast dc. 20-year-old michael said something antigay to 23-year- old fillive bush og and in the street fight that followed he stabbed the man who died at a hospital. a well-known local civil rights leader has been busted for marijuana. something that is of note because it came hours after he began a voluntary leave of absence from the state attorney general's office to persuit a lawsuit against anne arundel

four -- resumed for missing boy. police have been tearing apart a basement looking for clues as to what happened to 6-year-old etan patz who dispared in 1979. the basement used to bethrong a handyman and is half a block from where his family lives and along the route where he disappeared. investigators began to dig it up last week after dogs detected the scent of human remains there. a new mexico man is facing charges after he takes his anger out on a speed camera. check this out. the man fires five rounds into the dashboard of a speed camera van. and he he walks away. -- he walks away. it caused about a thousand dollar damage and he was slapped with a speeding ticket by the camera. now instead of a 100 finest looking at felony charges. more is expected today in the prostitution scandal that has rocked the secret service. so far six agents have been fired, five on administrative leave and 11 members of the military are under

coming down. pritdzy incredible. so here it is in the city. we will start out with the rain side of the storm. cold but these are rain showerss spotted around columbia and same idea for carroll county. towards montgomery county a few more in the way of showers. and west of that, a few showers and all of these are moving off to the east. but in western maryland, this is coming down in the form of snow and accumulating snow. two biggest snowstorms are the one in october and late april. this is incredible. switching over and show you how it progressed from last night you see to the northwest of us that cold air coming down. and mixing things over to snow where there's the rest of us. the clouds are going to hang tough today. into most of tomorrow but while this is going on, even into tomorrow morning, we do still have a winter storm warning in feck for garrett county and western ash-- in effect for garrett county and western allegheny county. we are going to see some snow not as much accumulating but

still some snow out there. temperature wise huge hit. 31 in oakland. 46 in baltimore and those winds are gusting out of the west making it feel even cold they are afternoon. although the center of the storm moved to the north of us, we are going to be close enough that we will be affected even through tomorrow. it's a strong storm. it's strengthening pulling down the cold air pulling up all the rain that we get with for -- dealt with taboret past 48 hours -- dealt with for the past 48 hours. here's the snow coming down behind it. and that will continue to affect western maryland through early tomorrow morning. then tomorrow afternoon, it's slowly starting to move away. maybe clouds breaking for some sunshine but a few showers possible. we break wednesday from the storm temperatures bounce up however you notice off to the west here's another storm coming our way. this is going to come through thursday into friday and we will try to get it out of here by the weekend. that's a close call. the forecast looks like this.
