work there. captain mike perry with the very latest. captain mike. >> a little after 4:30 or a little before 4:30 this afternoon, two cars got together, crashed and then crashed into the center barrier of the southbound june falls expressway. we know two people inside were transported to local area hospitals with nonlife threatening injuries. however it is completely closed. the southbound june falls expressway at 45th street. you will see a very, very long line of traffic extending all the way back into baltimore county along the southbound james fall expressway. some folks turned around and trying to work their way back to cold spring. this accident is nearly cleared. the tow truck has arrived. one vehicle is on the tow truck. once they get the other attached police will release this traffic. so it should only be another 15 to 20 minutes.

morning. wet, and cold wind blowing. >> reporter: a lot of equipment had been put up at the end of the winter had to gear up and go on the road. >> a lot of our crews were getting ready for spring. so i brought the crews in at 10:00. >> reporter: crews did their work ahead of time to keep roads open. but for those who weren't in a hurry, waiting the weather out was the better option. >> it slowed you down. >> yeah i've been here since 10:00. >> reporter: the delay wasn't on the itinerary especially when it was warm just a couple of days ago. >> i was expecting to wear shorts. i had shorts just a couple of days ago. >> you know when you spend summer down in florida and you come back to this, and you know birds, this isn't fun. >> reporter: it is still rare enough to use caution when passing through. >> the main thing to do is slow

down, be careful. >> reporter: despite the conditions, state police report very few accidents along this stretch of interstate 58. back to you on tv hill. >> this storm is being felt all around the northeast tonight. parts of new york and pennsylvania are also covered in snow. 50,000 homes and business are without power in those two states alone. and high winds are a concern. first warning weather continues with meteorologist bernadette woods and bob turk. their tracking the storm and how it's impacting our area. we'll start inside with bob. >> pretty amazing stuff, i'll tell you that much. we had a storm halloween. very similar kind of storm. not quite as much snow but very unusual to have this much snow in those areas at the end of the april. we had slight rain in the region. right now around the baltimore region. light rain moving through. from westminster west a little

heavier echoes showing. it's possible these echoes are producing snow. temperatures there in the mid- 30s with snow reported. it's not showing up, garrett county primarily and frostburg west. two inches or so around frostburg. as much as 8-inches fell and it's still falling. john's town, 12-inches expected. you can see all across the allegheny mountain. the rain to the north across new england. and a speck of rain moving through our region. that will eventually move out. it's going to primarily stay on the cool side the next couple of days. bernadette is looking at how well we did this weekend. >> reporter: some drought denting numbers out there, wjz drought watch continues to track these numbers. take a look, generally one to two inches of rain around the

region. lower parts of the eastern shore and southern maryland getting over two inches. see park hall, 12.4-inches of rain. this came over the course of about 24 to 36 hours so it really soaked into the ground nicely. now to update you on where we stand for the year. we're at 3.88-inches down still but we were over 5-inches going into this storm. for the month look we've almost caught up just .3 of an inch down. >> stay with wjz for the latest weather, log on to wjz.com for the latest any time. a young woman is a second person to be charged in the brutal attack caught on tape. wjz is live at city police headquarters. weijia jiang has more on the suspect and how police need your help. >> reporter: even though investigators have two suspects in custody they also have arrest warrants for two more

people they can't find any where. police are aggressively looking as they call this incident an embarrassment to the city. a baltimore tourist is beaten, robbed and later stripped naked. hajana davis is behind bars. >> mrs. davis used her shoe, her high heel shoe as a weapon during that attack. prosecutors and detectives were able to charge her with armed robbery because she used that high heel as a blunt object. >> reporter: parsons turned himself in after tipsters from as far away as california called in. detectives have also identified

18-year-old deangelo carter and tequilla carter in the video. there are many more than just four suspects in the case. police are relying heavily from help from the public to identify those people. >> just do the right thing. this was an incredible embarrassment for baltimore. and i think baltimorians are outcaged on what happened and i think people need to be held accountable for their actions. >> reporter: parson's attorney says his client has no part in tracking down others. >> there's this notion that he's working along with all of these people, that's not the case at all. he doesn't know them to be able to give any information on them. >> reporter: police urge anyone who does to help bring justice to the victim and to the city. >> reporter: davis who had a bail review earlier today is being held on bond at $250,000 bond. parsons on half a million. we're live at police headquarters, weijia jiang, wjz news. >> police also need help finding the other two named

suspects. anyone with information should call the warrant apprehension task force. 410-837-6970. the latest on carl snoden. denise is in the newsroom to tell us what the charging documents reveal. >> reporter: city police say they arrested snoden on drug charges while he was in a car with a registered sex offender. according to the charging, snoden was behind the wheel with a suspected felon in the passenger seat and suspected marijuana on the console. >> denise, thank you. snoden's arrest comes as he announces plans to sue leopold. the man accused of murdering an unarmed florida taepb is out of jail.

tonight the police chief that originally allowed zimmerman to go free is quitting. >> reporter: lee had been under pressure to quit after he set zimmerman free. last month, lee temporarily stepped aside. >> my leadership has become a distraction. >> reporter: but now lee says she's giving up the position. the neighborhood watch volunteer was released from jail late sunday after posting bail. his attorney is not revealing where his client is staying over fears of his safety. >> we have not had any threats recently. >> there are reports zimmerman was allowed to leave the state of florida. authorities say he's wearing a gps monitoring device and they

can track his every move. zimmerman has yet to officially plead in court but newly released documents say his attorney filed a written plea days ago. >> i am sorry. >> reporter: during that hearing, zimmerman apologized to martin's parents. the family's attorney crump says they are outraged. if convicted of second degree murder, zimmerman could face life in prison. in sanford, florida, randall pinkston wjz. zimmerman's arrangement is scheduled for may 8. two brothers awaiting trial want to delay their trial because of the comparisons to

zimmerman's trial. the trial was scheduled to begin today but their attorney has requested a postponement and a change of venue due to recent stories comparing their case to the one in florida. investigators are still searching for the cause of a three alarm fire in canton. sky high 13hd is live where the flames broke out. that fire forced people from their homes and cut off power to thousands. monique griego reports with a closer look at the aftermath. >> reporter: it did take fire fighters several hours to get this fire under control and today they spept much -- spent much of the morning putting out hot spots stuck inside all that degree. the fire breaks out in the 1200 block of bayleaf. >> it just went through like the whole entire building. it was pretty, it was epic. >> reporter: nearly 100 firefighters were called in to battle the flames as they

worked to get things under control. heavy smoke forced 60 residents to evacuate. fire crews were also concerned with what was inside the warehouse. which is owned by the eastern plating company. >> the chemicals they use on a regular basis are hazardous. >> reporter: it'll take firefighters several hours to get the upper hand on the flames. you can see how much damage was done to the warehouse. the entire roof of the front portion of the warehouse collapsed. and firefighters today spent much of the morning puts out hot spots that remained. investigators will team up to evaluate any hazardous chemicals left behind. as for neighbors, they are praising firefighters for keeping the flames from

weather forecast is coming up. testimony begins in the john edwards trial. the former expresidential candidate is accused of using funds to hide his mistress in 2008. >> reporter: john edwards only had a couple of words for people outside of the courthouse as he arrived for trial. he is accused of using campaign funds to conceal his affair. the money paid for hunters travel, hotel, and medicare when she got pregnant. edwards argues that it was a gift and since it never went into the campaign fund, it

cannot be accounted as campaign money. legal experts say he could have a creditability problem. for a while he pretended to be the father of hunter's baby and he may have broken the law when he contacted other witnesses to ask about their testimony. >> this case is so much about both what andrew young is saying versus what john edward is saying. it's that fight of creditability. >> reporter: edwards has not said much about the case. the defense is expected to call edwards mistress to testify but attorneys say they haven't decided to put edwards himself on the stand. the stakes are high, a possible 30 years in prison if he's convicted. in greensboro, north carolina, dick brennan. and the trial is expected to last for six weeks. if you're waiting for someone to get home from work, let's check on the roads for kristin bresland.

all right, a lot of clouds out there. we do have a little bit of a light rain. take a look at radar across central maryland. we still have some echoes showing up. down by dc as well, over the next two or three hours still a risk you might see some more sprinkles or a light shower activity. to the west we've had some reports in the blue bridge. some of those mountains up there. 250feet of wet snow and flakes. everybody else is well above freezing. take a look at readings right now we're at 46 now.

45 in dc, 48easton. and a chilly 35 oakland, a lot of mountainous areas around 30 to 35. a few spots more than 8-inches of wet snow in portions of garrett county. now they do typically get some snow in april but this amount is pretty unusual. 43 in cumberland now on the other side the ridge is there. the dewpoint is pretty high. at 38 compared to our 46 degrees temperature. a rather moist atmosphere. 49 in rock hall. still have wind in the area. we did get wind gusts in the 30 to 35-mile an hour range. with all that rain and wind we could have a few trees down. it didn't happen around here thank goodness. temperatures in the 30s, 13- mile an hour wind certainly feels like winter out there. low pressure that developed we talked about it last week. developed along the gulf coast,

came right up the east coast as a real nor'easter. this thing is spinning around, most of the united states clears the bill. expect for a few showers here in new mexico. the next system is beginning to develop in canada. a risk of shower and thundershower could come in at that time. right now still snowing across portions of new england, down through john's town. some heavy amounts there as well. some of the areas and some of the higher elevations around 3,000 feet. could see more than a foot of snow. and that's going to cause a problem. the rest of the area light rains, scattered around. some rain here through southern portions. you probably won't see a lot until maybe wednesday as high pressure begins to move through the area. we start to see some dry air. maybe some showers late wednesday night. better chance on thursday of

kept away from their home. >> reporter: isabel celis put their daughter to bed. suspicious circumstances were seen around an entry point. the parents of little isabel say they last saw her when they put her to bed on friday. the parents have been cooperating. back to you. >> police say they originally thought the child may have wandered off but that theory no longer holds. the renewed search for clues in a 33-year-old missing child case in new york city comes up empty. police say the excavation of a manhattan basement yields it no obvious human remains and little forensic evidence. they were hoping for a case in the 1989 disappearance of a 6- year-old boy. the work space was once the work space for a man who was friendly with the child. investigators say a 12th member of the military is now

implicated. bill plant reports for wjz from the white house. >> it just gets more troubling. >> reporter: five nights before the president's arrival a 12th secret service official who was not previously under investigation brought a prostitute to the hilton hotel. the hotel where the president later stayed. the officials implicated isn't the scandal stayed here. there are now 6fbi officials that have left their jobs. four have chosen to resign, the other two or supervisor, david cheney have retired. dave stokes has been fired but has a chance to appeal. >> the key thing here is not that they were prostitutes. the fact that foreign nationals were brought back into a secure area on the eve of the trip of the president of the united states goes against everything that the secret service stands for. >> reporter: lieberman who has oversite of the secret service
