one year later, new insight from documents seized in the raid that killed osama bin laden. >> tonight counter terror experts uncover the al-qaida leaders desperate last moments. >> good evening everybody i'm denise koch. >> and i'm vic carter. here is what people are talking about tonight. >> tonight we're finding out what documents were taken from osama bin laden compound. there was signs that al-qaida was already in the verge of collapse. the navy seals had 40 minutes to get in and out of osama bin laden compound. first they got osama bin laden

and then spent the next 20 minutes running from room to room and packing documents and computers into plastic bags. they lugged five computers, a dozen hard drives and 100 storage devices everything from flash drives to dvds. a task force of intelligence analyst has gone through the materials and today the president's top counter terrorism advisor outlined some of what they found among osama bin laden's increasingly desperate state of mind. >> he confessed to disaster after disaster. he even urged his leaders to flee the tribal regions and to go places away from aircraft technology and bombardment. >> reporter: osama bin laden killed some of his most trusted advisors including one of his own sons. >> osama bin laden worried about the rise of lower leaders who were not as experienced and this would lead to the repeat of mistakes. >> reporter: al-qaida's imagine so damaged counter terror

cause a commotion tonight. sky high chopper 13 shows us a stolen suv after it crashed on fredrick road. police tell us two men stole the suv and lost control as police followed them. officers caught both men after they tried to run away. well caught on tape, a protester pinned to the ground then pepper sprayed by baltimore police. activists call it police brutality but the department says it was doing its job. wjz is live, megan mccorkel has more on the officers response. >> reporter: police say that man failed to follow instructions when he was ordered to get out of the street and on to the sidewalk. but activists say police took it too far. >> chaos breaks out at a protest in east baltimore. this you tube video shows police pinning a man to the ground. >> he grabbed me and then proceeded to grab me. i said why is you grabbing me, my daughter is out here. >> reporter: you can see officers spraying mace as the

man layed face down. >> sprayed it in my eyes, my mouth. next thing you know some big cop came. he hit me. i had an officer put his knee on my head. >> reporter: you can see another officer knee him in the chest. >> it doesn't take five officers in an aggressive manner to subdue one man. >> reporter: tonight activists gathered to call the incident police brutality, they want the police commissioner to punish the officers. >> we want the major to be arrested. >> reporter: the department stands by the actions of those officers however should individuals feel that police acted inappropriately we strongly urge them to contact the internal affairs division where their complaints will be

thoroughly investigated. >> reporter: that man faces resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. live in police headquarters, megan mccorkel. >> reporter: activists are also calling for all charges to be dropped against that protester. a carol county teenager's life is cut short by a drunk driver. now that driver is in trouble once again for driving while on probation. adam may explains what what happens to that man now. >> reporter: this is prom season, you know. this is my daughter's senior year. instead of picking up dresses with haley, she spent a day at carol county. trying to get her daughter's killer into jail. >> i just want hill to say, yes i did this. and i'm horrible, i detroy people's lives. >> reporter: he was sentenced

to 10 years in jail. with good behavior smith certained less than a year then he was released on probation. katy's stepfather was outraged. >> i think actually in my heart it's a slap in the wrist. a bartender reported the parol violation, she testified she cut off kevin smith after he got drunk in lunch having five drinks and barely eating any food. in court, a judge could have revoked prohibition. instead smith was sent back to jail for one year. >> what do you guys think of the state laws that allow for this type of punishment. >> i think the lack of accountability in maryland is a joke. >> i don't think justice can ever be served in this case. >> reporter: he could be released from jail before the end of the year with good behavior. adam may, wjz news. while on probation, smith failed to complete a treatment program. a judge refuses to dismiss charges in the election date

robo calls trial. julie henson a consultant for former governor erhlich failed to convince the judge that those calls were legal. the u.s. secret service under scrutiny as the top watchdog announces his owninvestigation of the growing prostitution scandal. kay was urged to probe the incident. ethics experts from right here in baltimore are stepping in. hopkins will train dozens of investigators in the next several days. kai jackson has the story. >> reporter: it will happen on secret service property at an undisclosed location. the sex scandal rocking the u.s. secret service now has a

baltimore connection. because of what happened, john hopkins university will teach agents a two day course in ethics. >> i believe that director sullivan wants to keep this conversation out there and in the public. >> reporter: a number of agents are accused of hiring prostitutes in cartajena, columbia. prior to a visit by president obama. the incident caused several officers to resign. >> it's a stunning thing, it's actually disgusting. >> do you know whether any of the agents dismissed or accused were in your class? >> i think they did, but i would rather not talk more about that. >> reporter: he says hopkins has been the university partner with the secret service for years but says the director mark sullivan believed the issue needed special attention. about 100 people, mostly supervisors will attend an ethics course. >> a useful approach to ethics is to develop the habits of no

it's sunny and 60 degrees in central maryland right now. the complete warning weather forecast is coming up. major damage in lubbock, texas when a storm rolls through. homes and cars were pelted with golf size hail. the hail was accompanied by rain, 85-mile an hour winds. several roads had to be closed. and there were reports of funnel clouds but so far no reports of tornadoes. a 5-year-old boy survivors a fall to a storm drain. firefighters had to the -- get them out of a storm drain that was just 1 foot in diameter.

chemotherapy. >> reporter: 22-year-old phillip weaner is battling a rare type of stage four cancer, the symptoms are brutal. >> what does the marijuana do for you? >> help me with appetite, nausea, sleep. >> reporter: so you're fighting this? >> with everything i have. >> reporter: he loved snow boarding, hiking and photography. an eagle scout he was the last person you would expect to break the law. but cancer changed that. >> reporter: is it difficult for you to make the decision to purchase it and to use it? >> absolutely. it scares me every day to have to -- go out on the black market and look for it and be have the possible threat of arrest. >> reporter: last december that's exactly what happened. officers searched phillip's car and found marijuana and a pipe. >> i can't even imagine what going to jail will be like. >> there's no reason that someone like phillip should have to spend a night in jail, hire an attorney and go to

court simply to use his medicine. >> reporter: since medical marijuana is illegal in maryland it's hard to say how many people use it. but phillip's lawyers say there are thousands. >> the patients know they're breaking the law but the greater good is the preservation of their own health. >> reporter: despite pleas from people suffering from diseases like cancer, multiple sclorosis and aids speak out. williams uses it to relieve symptoms of ms. >> i have been living with neuropathic pain in my lower extremities, my face and sides for 10 years. 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, period. doesn't go away. >> reporter: williams says the national institute on drug abuse, the mayo clinic and others know it works.

but opponents worry that legalizing marijuana sends the wrong message. >> i don't care if it's for medical use or personal use, when you smoke pot you get high. and when you get high you are impaired. >> reporter: people who are suffering ask others to understand it helps them eat and sleep and survive. >> so the use of marijuana is keeping you alive? >> yes, that in combination with other medications, that's what's keeping me alive. >> it is important to note that montel williams is part of a dispensary in sacramento and his name is on a licensed application a dispensary in washington, d.c. the use of a drug is legal to varying degrees in 16 states and in washington, d.c. a terrifying accident in western pennsylvania, two sunbathers are run over by a car with their cousin behind the wheel. police say the 13-year-old girls fell asleep while lying on the middle of the road and the cousin turned on to the road without noticing them. the girls are expected to

the barometer has risen. rate now -- right now it's a mild evening. 60 here and 57 down by the beach. 55 up in elkton. locally 56 in bell air and still 61 annapolis. pretty much the high for today. southeast winds off the ocean today. keeps the moisture in, out to the west that's where the rain activity is coming in. looks like we will probably see at least a chance of showers overnight. looks like this thing is holding together so maybe we'll get so much much needed rain. still way below normal for the year and month as well. month of april being over. pretty good rain across ohio. continues to move off. looks like it is moving right toward western maryland. i think we'll see some rain probably four, five, six, seven, eight maybe 10:00 a.m. then a built of a break. perhaps an afternoon shower can pop up as we get kind of warm
