jfx troubles, road crews prepare to close the main highway. >> when the temporary shutdowns will start and how to get around the headaches. >> hello again. i'm jessica kartalija. >> i'm don scott. >> and here is what people are talking about today. we have breaking news on the status of the jfx. the road will close overnight. wjz is live and we were following this developing story. reporter: good afternoon. the first closure will start at 10:00 thursday night and last until 4:00 friday morning. let's take a live look at the highway from skyeye chopper 1, a marriage route into and out of downtown. we do not know at this point how many nights the road will have to close. at least overnight thursday. transportation officials made the decision after working to repair pipes under the pavement. a routine inspection led to the initial emergency road work and lane closures on the jfx. it revealed problems with pipes under the road. some were clogged and others crushed and that was causing

erosion. now the cleaning of those pipes is complete and repair crews need to close down the jfx completely overnight. that will begin thursday from 10:00 p.m. until 4:00 a.m. transportation officials are urging drivers to use alternate routes including park heights avenue, falls road and loch haven boulevard. it could be a mess. >> if it's emergency and it's causing any kind of safety to the public, that's something that needs to be done expeditiously as possible. >> jfx turned 50 years old and repairs involve digging 20 feet below the surface of the road and the work carries a multimillion dollar price tag. it's already been inconvenient for some commuters. about 6,000 cars and trucks an hour use it during peak times and unclear how long the road work could last. >> this is very important. jfx is a very important stretch of roadway. it brings you in and out of the city. of course we want to get the work done and we want to get

done correctly and as quickly as we possibly can. >> and you are taking another live look at the jfx from skyeye chopper 13. already capacity is reduced by a third for the emergency work. we will get another briefing later today on the status of that project and have those details tonight on wjz and instantly at wjz.com. back to you. thank you. again overnight closures on the fjx starting thursday at 10:00 p.m. more breaking news. it's out of ohio where federal agents have foiled a terror plot. the fbi says five self- described an, aests are under arrest for trying to blow up a bridge near cleveland ooms. they purchased what they thought was c4 explosive from an undercover fbi agent who then arrested them when they tried to detonate. it they only moved in at the end. make no mistake about it. it was their plan. the defendants chose to target that they wished to destroy.

the defendants went to the bridge to do recon. the defendants went to a hotel room to purchase what they thought were c-4 plastic explosive devices. >> the men under arrest range in age from 20 to 35 and are not connected to any international terrorist group and authorities say the public was never in any danger. and that terrorist comes one year after president obama announced navy seals killed osama bin laden at his hideout in pakistan. now some americans are accusing the americans of using it for political advantage. danielle nottingham has the latest for wjz from washington. reporter: pakistan has not answered some key questions. one year after osama bin laden was killed at this compound. pakistani leaders ordered an investigation into whether the terror leader had a support network inside the country. but pakistan is not disclosing its findings and the u.s. says it's disappointed. president obama makes no

who carried out the raid on twitter this morning. and applauded the president for green lighting the mission. at the white house, danielle nottingham, wjz eyewitness news. a joint intelligence bulletin as the anniversary of osama bin laden's death approaches. it warns all law enforcement agencies to be uon alert for a possible revenge attack. but the osama bin laden administration says there is no evidence of specific threat. opening statements have wrapped up in the trial of the man behind the election night robo calls julius henson now both sides will try to make their case. wjz and derek valcourt are live outside the courthouse. good afternoon. reporter: jurors are going to be looked at the intent behind those election night robo calls in 2010. prosecutors say the campaign consultant julius henson intended those robo calls to suppress voter turnout but the defense says that henson has

been thrown under the bus and left holding the bag for the bob ehrlich campaign. the robo calls had 112,000 registered democrats in predominantly african-american cities. before the polls were closed the calls suggested governor o'malley had one and no need for anyone to vote. those calls never mentioned they were really coming from the camp of republican bob ehrlich as required by law. henson contends the calls weren't meant to suppress voter turnout but inspire more people to vote for ehrlich. henson believes he is being targeted for prosecution by the democrats because he went to go work for a republican. meanwhile they are already calling witnesses in this case. the jury is getting an ear. and we will have an update at 5:00 and 6:00. derek valcourt, wjz eyewitness news. and wjz will stay in the courtroom and bring you the latest at 4:00, 5:00 and 6:00. police in baltimore county are looking into a fatal mark

train accident that happened just after 7:00 this morning in rosedale. there are few details at this point but police say a pedestrian was struck by a marked train traveling southbound near northeast creek road and schaefer lane. we will try to get that video as soon as possible. the person later died. a update around a legal storm. days after maryland's highest court passed a ruling calling the practice unconstitutional, maryland's attorney general is fighting back. asking for a stay in the ruling allowing police to continue the tests while the case is appealed to the u.s. supreme court. the clouds have opened up and seeing some blue sky and sunshine outside. take a live look outside right now. the sun is shining brightly for the past 45 minutes and everybody is cheering up after this morning's rain. we have complete coverage for you. marty bass in the outback without a coat and meteorologist bernadette woods is in the

first warning weather center. >> we will start out where the rain is that moved through this morning. it's quickly racing out to sea. it is no longer our problem. you do notice out to our southwest there are scattered areas of thunderstorms and this will factor into our forecast and with the sunshine returning look at these temperatures. 76 degrees in baltimore right now. 78 already in d.c. and notice the dew point is still high because of the morning rairn so it does feel muggy. compared to yesterday at this time we are 22-degrees warmer. this is just the beginning of our warm up. for more on that here is marty. >> thank you very much. by the way, tell don i'm not wearing a sport coat but i have my speedo on. it's that nice out here. take a look. we have this warm up and this humidity. and basically that will put us into an envelope of some unstable conditions. and such is going to be the case for the next -- well let's say 48 hours.

welcome back. we have the showers and even a thunder moved through the early morning hours. they are gone and temperatures are jumping. 76 degrees right now in baltimore. and look at 70s out. there still 66. and compared to yesterday at this point we are 22 degrees warmer. there is a bit of a breeze out of the west and that's helping to bring in the warmer air. this one part of our warm-up. notice this front out to our west. it's going move our way tonight and into thom and as it does, again the chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms. will put in a patter than even though the temperatures are going up, very -- very messy is a way to put this here. we have a couple of storms passing by. not a clear front that's going to come through and clear us out completely chance for a shower or thunderstorm each and every day as we head toward the weekend. forecast looks like. this today 82 degrees for our
