>> and i'm dons that. >> breaking news. a fatal accident and hartford county has shut down a major roadway. it happened on route 152. police are confirming at least one person was killed in an accident involving multiple cars. there are still a few details right now. we do know officers have shut down route 152 to route one. of course, we will bring you more updates as soon as they become available. >> the cia says its disrupted an al qaeda plot to take over u.s. bound airplane with a very sophisticated bomb. the fbi now has that device in its possession. randall pinkston has the latest for wjz. >> reporter: specialists from the fbi are picking apart the bomb. they want to know if it could have made it past airport security and onto a plane. intelligence agents say the device is a more refined version of the so-called underwear bomb that no function onboard on a plane on christmas day 2009. >> what the fbi is doing is

taking a look at the ied construction and to see what types of her finest and modifications might have been made. >> officials say the storm didn't use metal, but it's a possible full body scanners may have detected the device. >> president obama's counterterrorism advisers says cia agents work with a number of international partners who spoil the plot. officials say the al qaeda and the arabian peninsula and other terrorist groups are still a real threat. >> they keep trying to devise more and more terrible ways to kill innocent people. >> u.s. officials say he likely designed the new device also creating the underwear bomb and hid explosives in cargo planes on 2010. someone else would have carried out this attack are you. >> we are confident that this device and the individual that might have been designed to use it are no longer a threat to the

american people. >> officials insist the alleged bomber never had a chance to pick a plane or date to carry out the plot. randall pinkston, wjz eyewitness news. >> the president was made aware of the plot last month. >> we are back to the breaking news. chopper 13 is over the scene in folsom. what is the latest? >> it is 152 and download lane in eastern section of harvard county. a three vehicle collision. it looks like a head-on between a truck and car and maybe another jeep involved. it's not clear how the jeep is involved, but we do know of one fatality around 10:45 this morning. it's not clear on the other entries but you can see due to the african damage it appears other people were transported to local area hospitals. the road is completely closed between singer wrote and wrote one. you have to use alternate routes to get around the area. no word on how long it will take to clean this up.

never it -- reverend mary margaret will begin in a few hours. she and a church secretary and were shot. the shooter was a homeless man the church had been helping. he later turned the gun on himself and woods near the church. the funeral will be held at the cathedral here in baltimore city today at 3:00. >> thank you. police say the man became upset when church staff asked him to limit his frequent visits to the food bank but the congregation said the incident will not deter it from working with the poor. we are learning more about that handgun found inside a man's carry-on bag at ew i third that marshall. michael smith from florida faces charges after tsa screeners spotted a loaded nine in the -- 9-millimeter with additional ammunition in his bag as he was trying to get through security area he says he forgot it was in his luggage. he remains behind bars at the anne arundel county attention center. >> more than a dozen elementary

school students recovering after a rough ride home on their school bus. according to the newspaper during yesterday afternoon rush hour, the driver slammed on his brakes to avoid a collision. 14 treated at a hospital but no serious injuries reported. >> some sad news in the of literature as children's book author maury sendak passes away. love him say he died early this morning after suffering a stroke. he was probably best known for writing and illustrating the classic story where the wild things are. he was 83 years old. >> and another gray day in our area with clouds coming in from the west early this minute. take a live look outside. you see the sun is still taking some time off. somewhat weather moving in the time. wjz life with first warning weather coverage area marty bass in the outback and bernadette woods and the weather center. spent the afternoon. we start with first warning doppler radar to show you the rain making its way into the state.

unlike the last couple times where it was body and we didn't have all that much, this is a solid band of rain moving our way. we are going to show you even though it's still dry in the city, not that far away just on the brink of westminster, we have showers that pick up. you see these yellows and that's where it comes down a little heavier. we make it a couple rumbles of thunder out there. we will switch it over and show you that even with the clouds around, it's a mild afternoon. 70 degrees outside. 66 ocean city. where the rain has come down its 57 in oakland. getting the chance for needed rain out of this, but not just today. it continues into tomorrow. here's marty. >> good afternoon. slow moving from compressing this rain toward the east coast area this is going to take a while. maybe 24 solid hours to get out of here. tomorrow we still see widespread showers over a good portion over the north east are you windy

spin that it's cloudy and 70 degrees in central maryland. the complete first warning weather forecast is due. a knife attack on camera. take a look at the man walks up to a woman and her four-year-old daughter and springfield. he asked for the woman's purse and she runs away. the man goes after the little girl. before it is over, police say the man stabbed a woman but her child was not hurt. the would-be robber remains on the loose. >> a sad update to the search for missing tennessee woman and her three daughters. police have identified two bodies found buried inside a home in

north mississippi as joann bain and her 14-year-old daughter. at holy say they were a doctor last month by adam mays, a family friend. authorities believe the eight and 12-year-old daughters may still be alive and with their objector. >> it is unbelievable. i can't wrap my head around it. it's just something i would never dream. >> police have issued an amber alert and consider him extremely dangerous. >> a five euro lucky to be alive after falling into a greased it. it happened at the -- as the little girl and her father were walking into a sonic. her father says she stepped on a green manhole cover and disappear. she fell into 5 feet of cooking grease. >> i thought she was gone because i couldn't see her initially. i thought the only way i would get her is if she raises her hand.

frederick the rain is really picking up. the noticed this line that has the jell-o with it. that's pretty moderate rain. you head out to the west and there's another band of moderate rain coming down or you can see it's yours to fill in after that. all this moving across the state. we are going to see rain picked up for all of us and the chance for a few thunderstorms around here. last night the fog really set in at a few cases of sunshine this morning before the clouds took over, once again. here comes the rain. winds turning around to the south. this is pretty mild, but since we have sowed -- since we've had so much water piling up from easterly wind and with the brain expected, "-close-double-quote advisories in effect for the next couple high tide cycles around here. victor weiss, 70 degrees. at look at the 70s. even over to the eastern shore. with the rains coming down, we drop back into the 60s. wiggle a little above and a little below that the next few days,

but no major swings in architectures. here is the storm getting its act together. another low forming along to the south. today we've got some rain and a few thunderstorms out there. that continues on and off through the day today, but then what happens is that the next while comes up from the south and keep the rain around, even a few thunderstorms tomorrow into early thursday morning before it all gets out of here. the tryout for the beginning part of the weekend. today you see the rain coming in. a couple thunderstorms and 76 degrees for a hike or you some fog around where we are not seeing any brain. tomorrow is 78. with rain around scattered about, eventually we see driving the second part of the week. hopefully, we get a decent amount of rain because we are about 5 inches down. it had the clouds but not a lot of rain. hopefully, this helps that. >> still to come, a new reason to
