it's very wet. it has everybody reaching for their up bell las. all -- umbrellas. we're taking a live look outside right now where the rain is coming down steadily. wjz is live with complete coverage for you. marty bass and bernadette woods are in the weather center. we will start with bernadette. >> good afternoon. we're going to go first warning doppler radar. let's put it into motion. all of this is coming up from the southeast. we have a low that's making its way on shore. it's coming through in a few different patches. we're getting bouts of solid rain mixed in here. there is a since we could get a thunderstorm or two. we have a bend of rain on the northern side of baltimore right now. there was the batch that made its way through earlier in the day. now, with

all of this around temperatures are down somewhat from over the weekend. 66 in baltimore, 69 in dc. we're going to creep up somewhat this afternoon. not that warmth and sunshine we had over the weekend. this is going to continue for a little bit. there's a few things playing into this storm system. one of them, down to our south, a tropical storm. for me on that we send it out to marty. >> reporter: good afternoon. tropical storm alberto is in the mix. hurricane week doesn'ts start a week until friday -- doesn't start until a week from friday. it's going to get downgraded to a tropical depression. the fact of the matter is that the tropics have now gone active. models tend to keep it offshore. i think it's going to be towards the latter part of this week that will

impact our forecast when the sun comes out. there's clearly going to be some waive impact, some rough surf on the east coast because of alberto. is it going to play into our latter forecast? you bet. for more details on that, we'll have ber bernadette with that shortly. sentencing day for a new jersey college students for crimes that led to his roommate's suicide. his family read impact statements today. >> dharun ravi sat silently. >> the most ache and pain is to know the pain suffered by my son as a result of dharun ravi's coldhearted violations of him. >> a jury convicted him of 15

criminal counts. jurors found the 20-year-old guilt of using a web cam to spy on his website having a sexual encounter with another man. dharun ravi tweeted about what he saw. days later, clemte committed suicide. >> for so long i have craved to hear some recognition from dharun ravi. i have had to accept that this will never happen. >> the judge says the court has received a stack of letters weighing in on the case, some calling for some to pardon him. he could get 10 years behind bars and face deportation. prosecutors say he should get a serious punishment. >> defense lawyers tried to

argue this morning that their client should be acquitted of privacy and bias charges. the judge denied their request for a new trial. the naacp has passed a resolution to support marriage equality. we are live with pat warren on more on the announcement. >> reporter: the resolution comes from the national organization head quartered here in baltimore. >> members of the naacp held a news conference this morning. >> we live in a democracy and in our democracy we have the benefit of a constitution which e to fines the e -- which defines the equal rights. >> the handing wage mirrors -- language mirrors the bill pass that it supports same sex marriage and religion freedom. it says we support it provided under the 14th amendment of the

him to kill her boss so she could hide the fact she had been stealing. hickman could get her life sentence shortened if she testified against jeter. a man shot and killed by city police officers has been identified. it happened saturday. two officers responded to a call about a mentally troubled man. 31-year-old maurice holloman went for one of their guns. no one else was hurt. tributes are pouring in after one of the founding members of the bee gees passes away. robin gib passed away last night following a long battle with cancer. he was born in ending land, one of -- england, one of three brothers who powered 70s hits like staying alive and night fever. a major recovery effort is under way in northern italy

it's rainy out there and 66 in central maryland. your complete forecast is coming up. world leaders are in chicago for day two of the nato summit. president obama and world leaders are scheduled to discuss several issues, including a plan to end all combat in afghanistan by 2014. it's been over shadowed by violent protests outside. 40 demonstrators have been arrested, four people were injured, one of them stabbed.

diagnosed with terminal cancer. in california a bus driver is shot and killed in west hollywood. police say the 51-year-old had to detour from his normal route and a passenger opened fire inside the bus. the man decided he wouldn't get far. >> he just dropped to the floor like he was waiting to get arrested. the cops came out of everywhere and just jumped on him. >> exactly what promptd his shooting is unclear. a new york family getting trapped in their -- gets trapped in their car after a swarm of bees attacked. thousands of bees parked onning the -- parked on the side of their van. he called police for help. officers let them out of the car then vacuumed up the bees. the insects will be relocated to a

welcome back. we've got that rain out there as you well know. we're going to show you our radar. there is more of it to come. the batches of rain that you see that are now making their way up to pennsylvania, that was the solid and heavier rain that come through during the morning commute. down to the southeast it continues to form over the water and move our way. with a couple storms offshore, there's one that a tropical storm. we will get to that in a moment. this ban is going from towson to harford. another batch of rain with those yellow colors. that's making its way up into pennsylvania. there's more of this today and tomorrow. this is the rain as it come in last night. the clouds with it and rounds of rain and drizzle

and maybe a thunderstorm or two. while theys going on the -- while this is going on the winds have turned to the east. we're still in the 60s. it will be a mild afternoon out there, but not quite the 80s we had. here is our situation. we've got a front just off to our northwest. we have a tropical storm just offshore. we have another storm that has spun up offshore. it's the combination of the three that are giving us our weather. with the stopped up weather pattern we're going to see rounds of raise and drizzle today -- rain and drizzle today, tomorrow and lingering into wednesday. as far as the specifics of alberto, still a tropical storm with winds of 40 miles per hour. it's a tiny one and it's weakening. it will start to pick up speed heading away from it. it will become a tropical depression. all the models keep it offshore and far

in today's health watch, obese teenagers who have no symptoms of heart disease may have heart damage. that's according to a new study presented to the european society of cardiology. obese twins who showed no sign of heart disease had damaged heart with thicken walls. more studies are needed to see if heart damage have been reverse if they lose weight.
