several men forced their way in last night. his teenager daughter was inside at the time and called 911 after they left. police say the attack does not appear to be a random act. he vanished more than 30 years now. now new york city police announce a possible break in the case of ethan patz. we have the latest now from new york. >> a possible suspect is now in custody in connection with the disappearance of 6-year-old ethan patz who vanished 33 years ago on may 25th, 1979. police sources tell cbs news a man named pedro her than does admit -- hernandez admitted to killing him. police are trying to verify the things he told them. >> he alleges he lured the boy, killed the boy and diz opposed of the body. it does not appear it's going to be able to be recovered now. >> former deputy director of

national intelligence john miller has been following the case for decades. he said hernandez was never a major figure until now. he said other suspects made admissions in the case and their statements turned out to be false. >> they have an individual who has provided a credible story. >> he was on this block making the trip by himself for the first time to the school bus stop. >> he became the first child to appear on the side of a milk carton. he was declared dead in 2010. >> last month investigators dug up a concrete basement in a building but their search came up empty. his parents still live in the same apartment just down the block from where he disappeared. they have the same number in case their son ever tried to call them.

>> the police are expected to release new details later today. investigators are looking into the cause of a fire on the board of a nuclear powered submarine. >> officials are venting smoke and fumes from the uss miami so they can get inside to assess the damage. the fire started in the forward compartment yesterday evening. the vessel's nuclear reactor was not effected. 7 firefighters and crew members were hurt but not badly. the reactor has been shut down for two months. back to you. >> thank you. that submarine had been docked in maine since march for routine maintenance work. lay offs could be on the way at rg steel. they announced that it filed a notice of potential lay off. the company did not provide any further details. rg steel said earlier

it's sunny and 78 right now. the complete forecast is still coming up. an ohio teenager accused in a school shooting is back in court today. a judge is expected to rule whether tj lane will be tried as and adult. he's accused of opening fire back in february. three students were killed, two others were wounded. he's facing several murder charges and attempted murder charges.

he will face a maximum sentence of life in prison without patrol. hilary clinton said the u.s. pulled off a cyber attack against terrorists. they were able to replace al kwie da that flagged about killing americans with adds that show how many yemen people have been killed. a bombing killed 90 people at a military parade. a wild fire in nevada is still burning this afternoon leaving dozens of houses in danger. a voluntary e evacuation is still in effect. it appears to have been started with an illegal burn at a private residence. it's only 15% contained. the u.s. government is taking new steps to put an end to food stamp fraud. some people are ripping off taxpayers by selling their benefits cards

>> the weather is really starting to kick in. the biggest change is that the dew points are going up, the humidity levels are going up. along with the heat it's going to be the first real summer like weekend that we've had. we could be calling this a mini heat waive. temperatures at 78. our average now is 76 for this time of year. we're going up from here. we'll be in the 80 degree range. wind from the east -- winds from the east are keeping it cooler than it could be. the difference here is that the winds are going to shift to the west and southwest. along with that the temperatures are going to go up from here. we're already with a dew point in the 60s. it's usually in the summer we start talking about them that high. high pressure in control of the forecast. 66 in oakland away from the impact of that eastern wind.

79 dc, 79 easton, 74 in ocean city. we're also seeing the temperatures around most of the area, right around that 80 degree range in central maryland going up from 75 in westminster and bel air. right now the disturbance just off the coast, ocean city up to about atlantic city towards the jersey shore is bringing in that eastern flow. that's going to continue to move away. as high pressure continues to sink in away from -- or i should say away from the great lakes and towards us that high is going to allow for warmer air. what that means for us is that hot humid conditions stay with us for the forseeable future. the next front is going to move far enough to our north that it should impact us. we will get some pop up showers but other than that, the heat pump effect is going to be in place all the way up and down the eastern sea board with showers down to our
