bracing for beryl, a tropical tomorrow surging towards florida. the damage it could bring. good evening. thanks for joining us. we just got an update, they're now reporting the tropical storm has winds of 70 miles an hour, just shy of hurricane strength. beryl is expected to make land fall any time now along the south eastern coast. >> the wind is wick -- picking up across the ghost of georgia. -- coast of georgia. the store is expected to hit parts of florida, georgia and south

carolina. it could drop up to 8 inches of rain. officials in jacksonville, florida canceled memorial day events because of the storm. >> it has the potential to produce localized flooding, downed trees. >> beryl started ruining plans sunday. lifeguards moved people away from the shore. swim ingming isn't allowed. the rough conditions kept most people out of the water in florida. >> no, we didn't get a chance, but that's all right. a little rough. >> these surfers in daytona beach came back to shore saying the waives were too dangerous. >> whenever they're rush kr -- crushing you it's tough to get out. >> forecasters say beryl is expected to move up the south eastern coast monday bringing

much needed rain but washing out memorial day plans. >> so right now let's go to bernadette woods. she's live tracking beryl's path and the latest on thunderstorms that are moving through our area right now. a lot going on tonight. >> there is . we're going to start out with our thunderstorms first. let's go to the radar. this is a very strong line of storms as they moved out of pennsylvania. 87 mile an hour wind gusts. a couple warnings. it's make ing its way into southern maryland right now. notice this batch. some of that is going to hold together and scoot further to the east. we're done with this storm yet. just down to our south, this is beryl. just about to make land fall at my point. i'm going --

back up. it happened near hallow point. as far as we know, that search is ongoing. were still waiting for an update. a frightening home envision. they shoot one man and shoot his girlfriend. the victims and the suspects for us. >> there were four people inside that house when two robers broke in. tonight one of them spoke with witness about what -- wjz about what she saw. >> it's hurting bad. i'm scare scared to death. >> it's been a traumatic day for sharon. she asked not to reveal her last name. she was visiting her daughter's house when two men busted through the back door shouting. >> baelt -- baltimore city police and came gunning up the steps with a gun. >> before it was all over

robers stabbed her 28-year-old daughter, amy, and shot her daughter's 30-year-old boyfriend justin. she said the robers kept asking where's the money and demanded their cell phones. >> i hurried up and called 911 and they saw me and lunged at me with the knife. my daughter stepped in between us. >> neighbors reporting seeing the -- reported seeing the suspects run out of the house an down the alley into a get away car. sharon can only describe them as tall, thin african american men. >> all dressed in black with a bandanna. >> the whole thing happened in an area loaded with kids leaving neighbors appalled. >> it makes you worry for the safety of our children. >> it makes me think twice about locking my doors and windows. >> i want them caught so they

we have some showers and it's 69 in central maryland. there's a tropical storm about to make land fall. bernadette will have the forecast coming up. five people are hurt when a house explodes. fire officials say a good semertian rescued two people from inside. there's no word on the victim's conditions, the cause of the explosion remains under investigation. just a shocking story out of miami, florida. a man chews off another man's face. police say they got a call that two naked men were fighting on a road. when they got to the scene one of the men was biting the other's face. a witness describes a globe of human flesh hanging from the man's mouth. when police ordered him to stop

simple practice. a new study ranks baltimore among the top areas for their park systems. >> this garden growing is just oning -- one of the neighborhood's park areas. >> the parks have lots of different amenities from swimming pools, tennis courts, basketball courts, playground equipment, picnic tables, the shade of a tree. >> there are 270 strike that park sites in the -- separate park sites in the city. baltimore ranked 15th out of 40. >> we were right in the middle there. how big our parks were. in general we have a lot of smaller parks compared to other cities. >> they range the size from drew hill park and gwenn falls

notice even at this hour just to the north of cumberland another area of thunderstorms making its way down from the north. these don't have warnings with them, but there's a lot of lightening and downpours. wind gusts up to 80 miles an hour in pennsylvania. it broke down as it moved further south. it canceled a lot of festivities in dc. you can still see the lightening hanging on. here is that next batch coming down from the north. most of today mixed clouds an sunshine before those tomorrows starting firing and coming down from the north. temperature wise, still 69 degrees outside. we are not dropping much more. one of the reasons for that, the dew point is so high. we're going to get fog to form over night. that's how we will start out the day tomorrow. 89 was our high. that will be close to our high again tomorrow.

that's just how warm this air mass is right now. it's going to stick around not just for us but a lot of the countries. record highs across the deep south all the way to minneapolis. it broke down along the coast because of beryl. beryl is making its way on shore as we speak. what's happening to the north of that is a separate system. this is a part of a front passing by that's going to pass by tomorrow. again the chance for a shower or thunderstorm. as far as beryl goes, making land fall tonight and hovering over land for a day and a half before making a turn off to the north and heading back out to sea. it passes maryland early on in the week. now the model generally take it on this track. the most part, it's going to stay south of us. with this front coming in from the west, it will draw

moisture oh -- our way. scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible. those isolated ones this evening -- excuse me isolated ones tomorrow but with the front coming in even more widespread thunderstorms and showers before it gets out out here for the second half of the week. we have small craft advisories in effect. tonight we're not dropping much, some fog forming. tomorrow close to 90 for the high. a shower or thunderstorm possible. better chances tuesday into wednesday with that front drawing all that moisture from beryl our way. upper 80s, still muggy and warm. when it gets out of here we cool it down. >> power outrages already reported in florida from that storm. coming up next, the oriels take on kansas city. take on kansas city. stan,,,,,,
