of extreme heat but first bob is tracking the storms on live doppler radar. >> we have one cell close to the area that's moving off to the east at around 20 miles per hour. let me show you the particular cell. you can see right through there. let's take a closer look at it. right through there. there you see it. it's just between west minister at around pinch valley headed off to the east, north east. have heavy rain moving in and maybe a little piece of northern baldwin county. it's moving through pleasant valley and union mill by 6:08 this evening. to the west a lot more activity. washington county we do have a flash flood worning till 7:45 for frederick and washington county and a severe thunderstorm warning until 6:30. that is a lot of rain.

you'll see more than two inches in the next hour as the cell continues to move to the west. let's take a look at the other areas. west of baltimore wet. severe thunderstorm watch until 10:00 tonight and still ahead as i just mentioned a flash flood warning for frederick and washington county in effect till 7:45. some roads have been reported under water. we're looking at some of the temperatures we're expecting. >> that's one of the major factoring fueling the thunderstorms is the heat out there. here are the nones. we did tap out at 91 degrees. 88 is where we sit now. 89 in d.c. and still a couple of 90s farther east you go. dropping to 72 in hagerstown. with the humidity factored in it feels like 90s.

the thing is what's fueling this heat index is the high moisture in the air and that's going to fuel a lot of rain if you get underneath one of the thunderstorms. we have a lot going on and we'll have your full forecast up shortly. >> thank you. a ten year old boy was outside in east baltimore trying to tool off when police say he was shot along with three other people. wjz is live at police headquarterrers and mike has new information on the investigation. >> reporter: he will survive but the gunman remanes on the loose at this hour. baltimore city police were out on east haufman street where four people were shot including a ten year old. >> it's very, very hard that our kids can't go outside. >> >> reporter: investigators believe the boy was in the wrong place at the wrong time. this mom heard the gunshot.

>> it was a series of at least five or six and immediately back another four to six. now we have to worry about will our children be shot. >> reporter: does it make you angry? >> it makes me angry because it's life and young life. >> reporter: police say one of the bullets went right through the little boy's leg. they don't know the motive or have anyone in custody. >> nobody thinks about whose lives or family is going to be hurt. >> reporter: sadly, it's nothing new. >> we love you. >> reporter: the family of 12 year old shawn johnson just marked the one year anniversary of his death in baltimore. police believe the shooter mistook him for someone else. it's been nearly three years since a five year old was caught in cross fire and the shooting was captured on a city camera. police hope to wrap up the latest case of bloodshed in

baltimore. >> reporter: the other victims in this case were all in their 20s. >> if you have any information police urge you to contact them. >> a six month old baby girl is dead. the infant was taken from her home at east cold springs lane. at the hospital several injuries were found including a broken rib and burns. police arrested her father. a prison inmate murdered on a bus was offered a reward. >> they offered the family more than $18 million. he was killed back in 2005. an inmate strangled him and now the judge reduces it to

$600,000. the circuit judge reversed the jury finding that the head correctional officer on the bus was negligent and that limits the amount to be awarded to the family. >> a lawyer for the family says they will appeal. >> the back and forth battle over same sex marriage continues. it is said to become legal in just months. opponents say it won't happen. we report that both sides of the issue claims that the public is on their side. >> reporter: opponents needed to turn in 55,000 petitions to get the issue on the ballot and today they turned in double that. 113,505 signatures turned in today by opponents of same sex marriage. >> we have multiple counties well over five figures. >> reporter: opponents have been gathering signatures across the state since the

maryland. right now the complete forecast coming up. deadly hit and run. a howard county man killed while on vacation in ocean city. mike has more on the crime rocking the resort town. >> reporter: 22 year old matthew , a student, was hit and killed early monday as he crossed the highway monday with a group of people. pam has a vacation home just feet from the scene of the deadly hit and run. >> it was horrible. what went through my mind is that mom the getting that phone call and that's horrifying to get. >> it's a little sobering. we come down for a vacation and it makes us think twice. we're enjoying every moment but a little more careful. >> reporter: the driver drove off and witnesses followed him. where the accident happened can be especially dangerous at

night. >> there was a locality of alcohol involved. >> reporter: his heart went out to the family and friends. >> i'm a mom and my concern was what the mom would say that her son was here having a great time and his life ended. police arrest two suspectings following a fight. 44 year old faces attempted second degree murder charges after stabbing his girl friend and son during the fight. one of the son's friends was argued at the scene. 19 year old is accused of firing a gun into the air. >> students here in baltimore are celebrating the school's first ever national title in any sport. mary joins us with more.

>> reporter: a small school in north east baltimore won it all in the world of lacrosse and now the team is back after capturing the national championship. for the first time ever in school history they clinched the championship beating maryland 9-3 on memorial day in massachusetts. now the trophy is back in baltimore along with the team and players say it is now just singing in they are national champions. >> just from this whole year having support from the fans and alumni, a lot of more people talk about us this year, i think. >> the bus ride home, you're sitting there and look around at people's faces and you just say wow. this is something special. >> reporter: the players made it back to baltimore at 2:30 in the morning and hit the field in celebration of being number one in the country. the players did the victory lap on campus this afternoon.

it was an emotional moment for the coach. >> probably not since my children were born have i cried so much. >> reporter: about 200 students, faculty and administrators came out to celebrate the win. >> i think we're finally going to get the credit we deserve after this win. i think i'm going to walk around baltimore city and see greyhounds all over the place. >> it's a great time to see them win and see a whole bunch of my friends. it's special. >> reporter: and it is so special because they entered the season ranked number 21 in the national pole. they went on to have a near flawless record of 18-1 in their regular season. >> we're proud to call it our neighbors, mary. >> thanks so much.

just across northern baltimore county we had some reports of gusty winds up to 40-50 miles per hour. it's all moving quickly off to the north, north east. it's going to take a while to get to the actual city of baltimore. 7:30, 8:00 we'll start seeing some of the stuff in the region. once again it could be heavy downpours and gusty winds. we have reports of small hail. >> updating the breaking news we related to the weather. dozens of flights are delayed or canceled. if you have a flight tonight, check with the airport before you leave. >> danger from above. air canada makes an emergency landing. we have more on what happened. >> reporter: this is some of the debris witnesses say came hurdling through the sky
