4:00 pm
girl. eyewitness news at 4:00 starts now. this is wjz tv, wjzhd on wjz.com baltimore. >> from the city to the counties to your neighborhood, now is complete coverage. wjz, maryland's news station. >> good afternoon. here is what people are talking about. severe weather moving across our state. right now there is a tornado warning for baltimore county. there are flash flood warnings in many areas across the state. what you are seeing is a live look at montgomery county, clark's bug road. remember woods told you how quickly this water can accumulate. look at this, more than an inch. it only takes as mentioned an inch to move your car. that's more than an inch. you want to be very careful of these types of situations that
4:01 pm
develop. let's go to bob now for a look at live doppler radar telling us where the storms are now. that was a smart motorist. turn around, don't drown. we have a couple strong cells. they have weakened, dropped warning for carroll county but is still officially in effect for north western sections of baltimore county for 15 minutes. that particular cell, we'll look inside of it now. that one right there. let's take an inside look if we can get to it. right through there, that one right over there. okay. moving up toward grand rock now, west of maryland line. that's the cell that could have some very, very heavy rains perhaps even a funnel cloud betweenic low, river rural road, extreme north western sections of baltimore county and extreme northeastern although strongest has moved out.
4:02 pm
doppler radar looks inside the storm cell showing you which way the winds are going. right there is where we are seeing the greatest area of rotation. right in that area. it's still possible this storm could create a funnel cloud or a small tornado. there it is. you can clearly see the differences. if you look at the chart up to the left, you have winds going to the right. that's the green. and you have some reds there going away from the radar. that area right through there, close proximity, bentley springs, five forks area, that's where we are seeing strongest rotation. that cell could at any time have a funnel cloud develop. other storms are not as strong now. another one just over laural was moving toward columbia area. it has weakened because it is raining north of the region. what happens when you get showers ahead of the cells, they
4:03 pm
tend to -- atmosphere tends to stabilize some as we have seen. look at the activity across virginia, southern maryland moving northeast. we have a tornado watch in effect until 9:00 tonight and flash and flood watches also in effect. any of these cells could produce flash flooding this evening. please stay with us and on our website we have a lot of information to give you. thank you very much. first warning weather continues with vick. vick is in the newsroom with more on how this is affecting the area in maryland. how do things look as you came into work? >> coming in today traffic had stopped many, many places along the way. there are a lot of places where there is no storm yet but people are getting the word that there are storms on the way. they're slowing down, taking their time. this is a little flooding we have been seeing now on clark's bourg road. of course all throughout the area we'll see more pictures like this as evening moves
4:04 pm
along. this is west of democracy as cuss. the dark dirty mud is flowing. people will have to stay away from that area, away from that rode that's covered now. water is running under the dam and over the dam or over the bridge. police there have the area locked off. airports are grounding flights because of the severe weather all throughout the area. airports have been shut down, all flights to reagan national, dallas, bwi, are on hold until further notice. students in public schools are busing home now. they released the buses a short time ago. they were being held back until the tornado warning expired. others are holding buses at schools until tornado warning retires. it is up to the drivers to decide what to do. some buses in northern montgomery were being held back but they're on the road now.
4:05 pm
>> thank you, vick reporting from the newsroom. on the phone now we have sargent frank with the maryland state police. are you there? >> hello. >> how are you? thank you for joining us. let's find out where are you located in maryland? >> carroll county along 40, westminster. >> okay, carroll county. i know where you are. we have done live shots at that location. can you give us an idea of what things look like in the area where you are or in the area where troopers are reporting to you? >> we have a lot of rain, sir. a lot of rain. high winds blowing sideways in most cases. that's diminishing visibility greatly. it is knocking trees down and blocking roads on several locations. >> we had carroll county school
4:06 pm
superintendent on the phone a short time ago. he said at that time things certainly could change but at that time they were holding most of the schools locked down for the moment out of an abundance of caution because they didn't want the buses on the roads and didn't want to take a chance of students getting caught in the storms and drivers caught off guard. >> that's correct. i heard they were holding them off until 4:15 but it's still up for review. could be pushed back further. >> what do you want to share with drivers and folks heading home from work and people who were going to head out for the evening? >> major arteries have a lot of electrical problems because of storms and high winds. we have several lights out along the major arteries. a lot of malfunctioning traffic signals. we ask you if possible not to be outside. if you are outside drive with extreme caution and slow down because visibility is
4:07 pm
diminished. be sure your head lights are on. not only to help yourself see but to help others see you. >> as you are talking we are showing video from around maryland. i am not sure of the exact part. do you have flash flooding in or around the area where you are? >> we have reports for flooding but nothing major at this time. low lying areas are always subject to flash flooding. we ask if anyone is on the road and come across standing water, if they cannot see the road through the water, do not drive through it. detour and find another route. >> this doesn't matter whether you are in an suv or pickup truck that is a foot off the ground. it doesn't matter. >> that's correct. it doesn't matter what size your vehicle is. water will push your vehicle anywhere it wants to. >> thank you very much. we may check back in with you a little bit later. thank you for your time. we appreciate that. let's go back to bob and find out where the storms are now and where they are moving.
4:08 pm
>> reporter: 2-3 inches of rain, that's why we have flash flooding. it's obvious. streams are overflowing, covering road way. one motorist came down and turned around, that's what you have to do. turn around, don't drown. we mentioned before six-ten inches can lift your car and take it away. we don't want to lose you. please don't cross the flooded roadways. that water is moving swiftly from the heavy rain showers and thunderstorms we had earlier. we have had so far two reports of funnel clouds one in damascus area, montgomery county, the other in virginia. we have had no other reports in the baltimore region at this point. we have two strong cells, baltimore county now just crossing mason dixon line moving out of the maryland area. you see new freedom.
4:09 pm
it's moving kind of quickly now. it will be moving out of maryland into southern york county. if you are watching in southern york county, once again that cell will be affecting your region. so please be careful. you can see flooding and very, very strong gusty winds, maybe a small tornado possible. second cell south of the area is not as strong. we have had weakening of the cells because one has been following the area. there is lighter shower activity as you can see. this is moving through hand stead, maybe some rotation at the bottom end of it. let's take a quick look in this one. see that right in there? north of sander ville. let's look inside it again, see if there is rotation. we had some around sanderville. not strong at all. there are some positive signs that some of the activity has weakened. there is still a lot of activity around the entire state in some
4:10 pm
areas. southern maryland getting some stuff. the other one south of baltimore moving toward northern aa county right along i-95 and 29. columbia, lighter rain here in the city. that may tend to calm the storm down a little bit. heaviest rain just over laural as you can see on 32 as well south of columbia. there is still plenty activity further west. the cold front that will be affecting us tonight hasn't gotten here yet. we still have a lot of instability in the atmosphere. we have higher dew points, air. yesterday was dry dew points in the 40s. today dew points, humid air in the 60s. that's the kind of ripe atmosphere you need for these thunderstorms to form. we'll be watching all afternoon and night. our website updates every minute. >> thank you. we'll go to meteorologist bernadette woods on the phone. did you see the video we ran of
4:11 pm
the flooding? >> reporter: i did. it's pretty intense. >> right to what you were talking about earlier. >> reporter: it was and look how much rain was coming out. also the last couple weeks we have gotten a lot of rain in those quarters. we haven't gotten official at the airport. but if you live in those zones you know earl county, frederick county, parts of montgomery have gotten a lot of rain. as these two strong heavy thunderstorms on top of it with downpours, couple inches quickly, the ground cannot handle that. that's why you see these images of it washing over the road way. we saw earlier how it was coming around. it is so important, it is not worth going through it let alone putting your life at risk. your car will stall out, you will encounter damage and you will not get across anyway. >> eyewitness news did a story
4:12 pm
about this type of flash flooding in montgomery county last year or year before and people were in their cars. it was incredibly dangerous. we don't want people sight seeing. these waters are incredibly dangerous if not deadly. >> reporter: the thing is, it is deadly as you were saying. we have those stories. stay tuned to the televisions. we are bringing pictures. overhead shots are the dramatic ones. stay tuned. we are showing them to you. when things calm down if you live in an area that needs clean up go out then afterwards. it is actually opposite what you want do in a flash flooding situation. you want to go to the highest level of something. in tornadoes we talk about going down because tornadoes as violent as they are it won't cut below ground. flash flooding water goes from bottom up. once tornado threat leaves and floodk threat kicks in get in an upper level because then you can avoid water. >> very good point indeed. bernadette, any updates you are aware of?
4:13 pm
we need to prepare people for the second round you mentioned are coming later. >> reporter: we have a tornado in affect until 9:00 tonight. we have this round ahead of the actual cold front which is well off to our west. high dew point, warm air, a lot of spin in the atmosphere with winds from the different directions coming together. as showing you on the radar there are thunderstorms in virginia. not all of them are connected. they sort of build their windshield and pull from different directions. most of those are severe thunderstorm warnings. a lot of those will be heading into southern maryland and over to the eastern shore. this will be spreading as we head through the night. >> thank you, meteorologist bernadette woods on the phone. we will check in with you later as conditions warrant. next is pictures we have been
4:14 pm
getting from viewers. >> we have been getting many pictures of this. mark census this picture of the rainfalling outside his house and a captive dog there. in westminster here are clouds over union town road. be careful while you are out there. pay attention to the skies. they are incredibly dark. more dark skies, pictures. those sent in by kim. a viewer census frightening cloud formation in sterling virginia right outside washington, dc. this is what you need to look for and prepare for as well. i will send it back to you. >> thank you for the pictures of what's happening with viewers. let's go back to bob. new tornado issued for you near indian head. that particular cell, you can see it clear around indian head.
4:15 pm
that area right through there. boom! that's where the areas is moving off quickly to the north and northeast. i don't believe these folks can see us but that storm, hail size as high as one inch. 50% of chance of severe hail. this is moving up toward harbor view, bell mont park in charles county south of the dc area. may be affecting some areas in pg county shortly. another tornado warning going on for the next 35 minutes for that area southeast of the washington area. the rest of the area, more storms moving through baltimore area now. this is around the columbia area has weakened somewhat. let's look at it again heading for the city of baltimore. columbia, laural area southwest of the city. this is going to be hitting toward the city probably in the
4:16 pm
next 25-30 minutes. if you are out and about particularly southwest belt way you may encounter heavy blinding downpours with this cell. the other activity we have been watching all afternoon is all the stuff northwest of the city. that particular cell is now moving out of maryland into york county. that did prompt a tornado warning officially. it does get canceled now. i haven't seen any updates on that. but i assume since it is out of the baltimore county area it has been canceled. the other cell near westminster is also a very strong cell showing rotation still at this hour. north carolton, sanderville moving around this one around 25 miles an hour. a look inside with doppler radar. there is where we are seeing big differences between winds going inside the clouds from or to the
4:17 pm
radar site, right into there. those folks there, please take shelter at least for the next few minutes while the cell continues to move across your region. it could create a funnel cloud. we have had reports of at least two this afternoon in our local region. >> thank you. we are going to take a short break. we ask viewers to stay with eyewitness news so we can continue to bring you this breaking and important weather information. stay with us.
4:20 pm
4:21 pm
tornado watches, and flood warnings as well. we have had severe flooding in the state of maryland. we will show you some of that video again. right now we are going to go back to a phoner with johnson airport. are you on the phone now? >> i am. >> i know you are busy at the airport. at a period of time we had reported a ground stop at the airport. i would like you to share the status of arrivals and departures. >> the airport is open and operational. there are a number of delays this afternoon as you might imagine. weather right here at bwi isn't bad. i just heard my first rumble of thunder. obviously these storms are starting to impact air traffic. >> for anyone who may be heading out on a flight, planning to, or planning to pick someone up what should that person do? >> those persons with travel plans this evening or planning
4:22 pm
to hit the airport to pick up any loved ones, call ahead. check with your airline. flights again likely may be delayed this evening, late this afternoon. call ahead, check with the airline or with the bwi airport website bwi airport.com. >> bwi marshal, maryland transportation authority, you make the final determining decision as to when traffic will move in or out of the airport. that's not the airline's final decision. >> that's the faa's decision. >> okay. thank you very much. reporting from bwi airport with an update. let's go to bob with an update on our weather situation. bob. kristy. >> reporter: we have things going on as bob mentioned in the carroll county area. let's talk about down wires and flooding. if you are traveling, we have
4:23 pm
down wires baltimore boulevard. we have that downed tree affecting traffic, tony town at bull frog avenue. as far as the interloop, cars are trying to get out of the way. you are looking at 25 minute from his charles street to 95, another 20 on the interloop from 95 to security boulevard and outer loop, 30 minutes in that direction from stevenson road to he had monsoon avenue. it slows again. 70 west bound heavy from 29. accidents include wind brook avenue, north hilton at west baltimore, keith monument at north wolf. let's take a live look. there is a look at our camera. you can see things are very heavy and skies do not look so stable. another live look, not bad there, 95 over tieings memorial bridge. things are gloomy. it's backed up from 29 to marriotts ville road. this traffic report is brought
4:24 pm
to you by sara lee. so good you will eat the whole loaf. so good it's gone. back to you. >> thank you very much for that update. let's go back to bob for a look at the weather. >> the thunderstorm has moved into your county. we have a tornado warning for southern york for the next 15 minutes. shoes bury, that cell is over you as mentioned. it would be and is moving through southern york county. maybe through west lancaster in the next 20 minutes. severe thunderstorm warning around ham stead. that's the second one which is moving quickly into york. you talked from hanover into southern portions of york county two storms headed your way. first one is prompting the tornado warning for southern york until 4:45.
4:25 pm
this severe thunderstorm warning, let's take a look. this probably has still rotation with it as we have been watching the cells evolve from the south to the northeast. still seeing some rotation around trenton. not as much as earlier, but still still capable of strong damaging wind gusts and even hail in some cells. very heavy downpours. some areas may get over an inch in less than an hour. around baltimore we have shower activity that's popped up. the strongest is southwest of bwi, south of columbia on the lower area moving up 95 to route 29. later showers and a little bit activity in hart ford. but nothing compared to the stuff we are watching across portions of southern maryland and extreme northern maryland. that one cell is pretty strong. more south of dc. there it is heading south, east washington area. this other one heading up toward
4:26 pm
pg county. everybody eventually will get some of these cells. some can be very damaging winds. as we said earlier we had two reports of funnel clouds not touching the ground. one pretty close to demascus. another across monday as cuss in northern virginia. tornado warning for northeastern, just reissued for northeastern and north western until 5:00. we are talking millers and lime borrow before it gets once again into southern york. this is the cell we have been watching. there it is right through there. let's track that for you. this is the one we are watching. hail as much as an inch and a half possible. there you go. let's take a look at it and see where it is going. manchester, maple grove, melrose, that's the area
4:27 pm
currently under tornado warnings for a little while until it moves into york county. hopefully it will weaken but we still saw rotation. if you are in ham stead manchester toward lime borrow, take shelter. if you have a strong basement, get into the basement. if you don't have a basement, get into an interior room as you mentioned. perhaps even a bathroom. away from windows. windows can break if we have a tornado reported. luckily so far we have had no tornadoes reported on the ground across the entire region. we have had two funnel clouds reported but nothing has reached the ground. we'll keep track of this particular cell once again for the next few minutes. northeastern carroll, north western baltimore county, that tornado warning still in effect for the next ten to 15 minutes. >> thank you. you are watching expanded coverage of eyewitness news breaking and severe weather happening across maryland. stay with us. we'll take a break and we will
4:31 pm
wjz.com baltimore. >> from the city to the counties to your neighborhood, now is complete coverage. it's wjz, maryland's news station. >> hello and thanks for watching. here is what people are talking about. maryland is experiencing severe weather now. this is video you are looking at from montgomery county clark's bourg road where there has been flooding and this driver is making not a wise decision to drive through. a lot of roads flooded in the area because a line of heavy rain has moved through. >> of course this first day of june is not so pretty. let's take a live look outside now. storm clouds are covering up the sun. we have weather and traffic together. bob is here with the updated numbers for first warning weather as well as a look at radar and activity going on now. >> reporter: still have an active tornado warning for a little piece of north eastern
4:32 pm
county and little piece of extreme north western baltimore. this is a cell between manchester and ham stead we have been watching. it has prompted that tornado warning because we still had rotation showing on our doppler radar as we look inside the cell. there is a tornado warning still in effect for southern york county as well in pennsylvania. let's look inside that cell, look in the colors. when you see reds and greens in close proximity through there, that's where the strongest rotation is with the cell, northeast of ham stead right in there. melrose, auburn town, millers, alicia to lime borrow, north western baltimore county, western sections, that's where that storm is located and it is headed off to the northeast around 22 miles an hour. it will be entering york county
4:33 pm
slowly. if you are in southwestern york county this is the second storm that will be affecting your region. you have the first one near fell ton north of shoes bury already. there is a slight break and a second cell headed to the area. into harford nothing is going on. still a lot of activity around the state. we have more activity southwest of the city. this will move toward baltimore shortly. the western sections downtown baltimore, western section of town, eastern say from pikes ville, that cell is moving to your area. more activity south of dc. another in northern virginia. with so much going on it's hard to track. eventually i think everyone in the state will be experiencing some kind of rain, thunderstorm activity or severe weather this afternoon orton item. the strongest tornado threat
4:34 pm
appears to be toward southern pennsylvania and new jersey region where the warm front that came through the area this morning, kept some chilly air for a while but we are now into the more humid air mass. that is toward the north and that is where the risk for these storm is his located. we have a risk of strong thunderstorms this afternoon and tonight as a cold front to the west will approach us with all the moisture around, all the instability. little sunshine south of washington. that's what need to fire up the storms. watching these and tracking the storms as they move through this afternoon and tonight. don't forget our website is constantly being updated. >> thank you very much. throughout the afternoon there have been tornado warnings in carroll county. that's where our reporter is headed now to find any damage and any flooding there. megan is on the phone with us.
4:35 pm
what have you seen so far? >> reporter: it is a little bit slow going this way, a lot of the traffic is held up just because of the rain. we are starting to move a little bit now. we are on 795 headed out to some of the reports of damage. we have reports of flooding all over the region and here in carroll county, reports of flooding on 140 and 97. we'll go check out that area. also in the westminster area there has been reports of trees down throughout that area. carroll county and frederick county kept students in school as warnings were passing over that area. we are told carroll county, century high school in carroll county in the past five minutes just released students. we talked to parents in the area and they tell me they were happy that the kids were kept in
4:36 pm
school because there really was bad weather moving in, sky was dark, there was damage, they were happy kids were kept in school about two hours. we have video sent into the newsroom earlier of the kids being kept in an interior hallway, not close to any of the windows. they were taking this very seriously. we know carroll county is keeping students about two hours past when they were normally be released. we are headed towards the damage zone now and we will update you as we get closer. >> you are referring to damage from rain and severe winds although there was tornado warning, we have no reports of torr maddic activity in carroll county, correct? >> reporter: correct. at this point it was just the bad storm coming through, winds taking down trees and rain coming down so fast it was flooding some of the roads. >> as we listen to megan you are looking live at images from a helicopter over the dc area. those are frightening looking
4:37 pm
dark clouds there. this is the washington, dc area, live pictures from a helicopter from some sort of picture there that's live. thank you. that was megan on the phone. she is headed to carroll county. as soon as she gets there and has reports of damages we'll get them to you. >> as you can imagine with the activity, storms and rain is causing problems traffic wise, particularly those getting in off the roads. let's check in for an update on the traffic. >> as megan mentioned we are having problems in carroll county with damage and flooding. baltimore boulevard at emory. 140 and 97 as megan mentioned. we have downed wires there. that's also on baltimore boulevard at emory, downed tree, tony town pike at bull frog road. that will affect your ride. as far as our region, traffic on the harris bug express way in the north bound direction over to belfast. outer loop, up to 30 minutes.
4:38 pm
stevenson road to ed monsoon avenue. 25 minutes from charles street to 95. west bound is crawling from 95 to security boulevard. 70, as you can imagine, i know there is traffic going east bound but west bound is heavy there also. we have a live look at 70 as you can see. it is crawling along. the belt way is very busy. this traffic report is brought to you by accord restoration. if your property has been damaged by fire, flooding or storms you can trust restoration experts at acore. >> thank you. friday afternoon commute too complicated by all the weather. >> yes, we'll be right back. particular danger. >> see that shot? some people might call that a funnel cloud. lots of times in some of these clouds start rolling around, they're not necessarily funnel clouds but they can called them because it's really just low lying clouds that turn around. we do have a tornado warning in effect for the cadences area right there until 5:00. that's the cell we looked at a little while ago. there wasn't a lot of rotation but enough for the severe storm center to issue the warnings. the reason they issue tornado warnings is not necessarily because there is a tornado or funnel cloud. it's because of the potential. it's a way to warn people. it doesn't mean there is a tornado on the ground or even a funnel cloud. it just means that the conditions inside that cell are probably at least in some way likely to produce something or
4:43 pm
possibly produce something. let's look inside that particular cell now just west of town. let's look at the reds. i am not seeing a lot of rotation at all in this particular cell. hopefully they'll cancel that. in this area that's at least considered a possibility that a funnel cloud could be reported. western sections of the city, that's where this particular cell is moving through. let's go back and take a look at it again. moving up toward the city, western cited of baltimore city around the dc area, a lot of activity. i suspect this one in frederick will probably be issued shortly as they have already had flooding reported in the area. it's likely that we'll see more flooding in the areas that have already seen it. northern baltimore county headed toward york has produced very strong wind gusts and tree damage in the area. right now the current storm we are tracking is the one just south of the baltimore region,
4:44 pm
southwest of town around columbia moving on the west side of town. on the belt way side, it will get nasty, on 140. we can see this cell moving across. will be heading in the next 20 minutes eventually getting north of town. >> thanks bob. >> all right bob. thank you very much. bob -- we'll be back in just a moment. stay w,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
4:47 pm
we want to welcome you back to wjz eyewitness news. a picture looking out toward the west. you can see there is a break in the clouds but it is still ominous dark, dark clouds lingering around up there. we have had stories of tornado activity as well as funnel clouds having been seen. we have on the phone with us right now kathleen who is out in the area. she is sending pictures for us to look at from her area. tell us what you have been seeing. >> actually the weather channel app told me to go into the basement so i did. then we started hearing a bunch
4:48 pm
of hail and then a large whistling noise. from the window we could see the branches, large branches flying by and up and down. you can see there was a path of trees that are not there. >> we are looking at these pictures right now. how long ago were these taken? >> it would have been 3:00. >> so less than two hours ago. >> yeah. >> your area right now, is it pretty much all cleared out, pretty much gone? >> it was just sunny but it looks like it is getting real cloudy again and the wind's picking up. >> okay. we see quite a few trees are down. any roads you can see are blocked or is this just on your property? >> this is our driveway. this is completely blocked. we can't get into the driveway or out. there is another tree down on the main road. >> so you haven't left prerty. you can't t e what's happened in the rest of your neighborhood? >> no. somebody that did just come home
4:49 pm
parked under the driveway and and in a couple people's cars.ad >> okay. very good. kathleen thank you very much. i don't know if you can hear in the background we have been hearing thunderstorms happening right here on television, big clap of thunder a few minutes ago. be safe out there. we'll check in with bob and see what's happening in our area and other areas around the state. >> just too much going on. right now that cell is going across western section of the baltimore area from the belt way up toward downtown really, west side. woodlawn, weathers vick, that's where this cell is headed. we have had reports of strong winds and heavy rains. this is moving over north baltimore. if you are getting on the belt way in the next few minutes north of town, that cell will be in your region as well. this has prompted tornado warning although we still don't
4:50 pm
see a lot of rotation with it. hopefully they will cancel that. that is moving to the northeast around 25 miles an hour. also a tornado warning for the dc area which is south of baltimore. this particular cell, you see it moving to the northeast at around 22 miles an hour. it is moving out of the baltimore region in the next 15, 20 minutes toward baltimore county and eventually toward harford county. the dc area, a lot of activity going on, annapolis area. expect to see more warnings and watches, more warnings. we already have watches in effect. tornado warnings, eastern sections, southeastern sections of the dc area. to the west, still some stuff going on. let's get rid of some of these boxes. there you go. we have already seen several
4:51 pm
strong cells move through this region. i expect probably more flooding in washington and frederick county. looks like everybody in the state will see rain, thunderstorms and maybe severe weather between now and midnight. it probably won't be over until late tonight. >> thank you very much, bob. of course it is friday afternoon, a lot of people commuting home. there are real troubles on some of the roads. word of a fire on 95. we are looking at it now. kristy. >> reporter: this just occurred, 95 south bound. mountain road, all lanes are blocked in that direction. traffic is being held back to white marsh boulevard in the north bound direction, rubber necking. things are crawling along. we'll continue to keep you up to date on everything happening in the region. going back to the carroll county situation there are problems up there as well as we said. malfunctioning traffic lights, flooding, flooding 97 at 140.
4:52 pm
down wires baltimore boulevard at suffix, down tree at bull frog road. we'll continue to keep you up to date. your best scenario is avoid this trouble on 95 south bound. get off at bell air or route 40 because it will cause chaos for some time. >> it's getting worse as we talk. we assume this is an accident that caused this fire to catch fire -- this car. excuse me. >> yes, it is. as you can see they're doing their best to get it out. with the smoke and everything coming along and all the emergency medical equipment on the scene it's going to have a significant back up also on the north bound side. >> that can really complicate things. thank you very much. stay where you are for first warning weather coverage. we'll continue to follow this ,,,,,,,, news in the weather and
