>> tornado outbreak, 10 touch downs confirmed. >> i'm adam may, we begin tonight with new information on suspected touch downs. the weather service has now confirmed 10 tornadoes touched down. lets go live to derek valcourt. he has more on three victims that were hurt when the tornado hit there. derek, what a -- mess behind you. >> reporter: mess is an operative word. check out this building, siding, the roof, the doors torn right off. and some places were hit harder than others. >> reporter: people began capturing pictures of the tornadoes that popped up. one of the strongest hit near

falston where keith matthews was hard at work inside a auto detail shop, a shop reduced to a pile of rubble. >> he had one widow in his shop. he opened the behind, there was the tornado. he could not sidestep. he was under the wall. >> reporter: friends rushed to help keith. he is now in the hospital recovering. >> i'm happy, i'm not planning a funeral. >> that's actually the floor that's on its ends. and my desk is actually under there. if i would have been under there, i would have been dead. >> reporter: he and others now left to clean up and rebuild what the tornadoes tore down. >> you can see we are standing

in what's left of keith matthew's buildings. good samaritans have come through and cleaned this place up. as for keith, we are told that he is in a lot of pain but he is conscious talking to friends. family and friends are setting up a number of accounts to sort of help out keith and his family as they try to cope with this. he's the family's primary breadwinner. we are live in folston where the clean up is in full swing. derek valcourt, wjz eyewitness news. >> that is some of the worse damage we have seen from that storm. coming up we're going to speak with more survivors from these tornadoes. gigi barnett reports where one of the strongest storms hit. >> reporter: two oak trees in harford county used to provide a beautiful canopy of cover, that was before the storm. >> the majority of the trees

landed here. >> reporter: now the wind power could be seen in the damage to feltman's house. her family escaped the storm unscathed. even the horses in her backyard were saved. >> a lot of money, a lot of clean up. >> reporter: her clean up is just beginning. but now after this weekend's storm she's thinking about letting a little more sunlight into the backyard. >> i love the area. i love the shade that it gives but maybe i don't want those tree there is anymore. >> reporter: the damage from neighbor to neighbor is very random. while some of them have extensive damage and a major clean up project, others only have small tasks ahead like simple limb removal. >> you know the neighbors out back, pat and johnny they had a really big piece of tree come down. luckily it missed everything, just got their fence. >> reporter: as for feldman, those trees that were once in

her backyard will have another purpose. now to baltimore county where clean up efforts are on the way. homeowners are assessing their damages. >> reporter: now the clean up begins. the sights and sounds are familiar and frequent as tree crews try to keep up with demand and damages. >> what happened here? >> a storm. the storm took care of it. there's the stump. really uprooted. the whole entire tree. >> reporter: not just any tree landed on this home, this one more than 100 feet tall. fell right through the right side of that property. >> what was it like when that tree came crashing through your garage. >> the tree, didn't hear a thing, just thunder and rain. >> reporter: townsend was one of the hardest hit areas in

baltimore county. the chance two car garage took the brunt of the damage. they pulled it out with little more than a few scratches and the passenger side mirror being ripped off the side of the car. the garage was not as fortunate, it was pulled away from the side. >> reporter: the latest book you never know was summed up. >> that's the one thing, you never know, i'm okay. >> reporter: mr. chan was not the only one without damage. he expects his repair to be done in two months. the damage estimates are expected to be in the millions of the dollars. let's go to bernadette woods, she has more on the dangerous storms and she's been gathering more information. bernadette. >> that's right they're still assessing the damages. you can tell it is incredibly widespread across a lot of the state. time to go out to each one of these areas, see what happens,

and come up with their assessment. what they have at this point 10 confirmed tornadoes. this may still go up and some of them already have a rating scale with them. this is a damage scale. so we're seeing ef1 and ef1 also watersville county. that's a new one from yesterday. in addition to that we also have mount erie ef0 and that's an addition. now as far as the damage scale goes, we talk about this enhanced fujita scale. it goes out and assessing what happens and from there they estimate what the winds may have been. and since yesterday, we were talking about it being an ef0 level, 55 to 65 miles per hour.

there's staggering numbers out there. clarksburg over 2-inches of rain and laurel 1-1/2 inch of rain. some thunderstorms are developing out of those clouds. let's show you doppler radar because off to the north there are severe thunderstorms warnings with storms coming from the north. they're taking a bit of a southeasterly track. we'll probably have more north eastern parts of maryland and over to the northern sections of the eastern shore. this around chambersberg is starting to go back toward maryland. we're going to keep you up to date on what's going on now with our storms in addition to what happened, adam. >> certainly a lot to keep up with, thank you. be sure to stay with wjz for severe coverage whenever weather hits. bernadette will have more on the weather coming up. now to a man who says he

shot and killed a teenager is back behind bars. george zimmerman turned himself in this afternoon. >> reporter: george zimmerman arrived at the jail hours before his deadline was about to expire. zimmerman is accused of killing trayvon martin had been freed on $150,000 jail. but friday, the judge revoked his bond after prosecutors accused zimmerman and his wife of misleading the court about their finances. the prosecution said zimmerman's wife lied about more than $100,000 they raised online. attorney o' mara knows that it'll be tough to set bond again. >> it's a credibility issue, it's a question about attack or

tarnish and now he's going to have to rehabilitate it. >> reporter: zimmerman's attorney does not know if he's going to have to issue a bond. >> now we have a chance to look at allof the evidence. he understands the court's concerns. he understands the state's concerns and we're going to address those. >> unless omara can convince a judge to free his client again, zimmerman will be held in his own cell away from other inmates. in sanford florida, randall pinkston. >> reporter: o' mara says his team will not be able to bring his case to trial until sometime next year. a shooting happened early this morning near the intersection of pimilco road.

dabney was shot and taken to the hospital. anyone with information is urged to call police. a family of four is back on dry land after a scary accident in george prince county's island. a strong wind pushed the boat into a shallow rocky area near shore and the four victims were taken to a hospital for evaluation. they are expected to be okay. it's a bake off in baltimore and no we're not talking about the weather we're talking about cooking and harbor east is hosting a competition searching for the city's best two deserts. the winner gets a one night stay at the hotel. that's chris ford, the top prize today went to ryan westover, he made a delicious looking carrot cake. man all that looks good. they didn't send any samples back to the tv station.

partly cloudy and 78 degrees in central maryland. bernadette just told me there are three new severe thunderstorms warnings for some of our viewing areas. first a tornado is caught on camera just as it descends on a town in columbia. one person was killed and dozens of others were hurt. 5,000 people are now homeless. trees toppled on to buildings. that community has already gotten several thousand dollars in emergency aid. a trash truck nearly collides with a baby stroller and it's all caught on tape. take a look at that stroller rolling right into the middle of an intersection. the mother of the baby in that stroller, you can see she just goes running after it. the trash truck driver. you can see here that's where

the camera was. she slams on the breaks and jumped out of his car. went over to help. there's no word how the stroller got away from the mother. a huge celebration is underway to celebrate queen elizabeth's 50 year reign. trumpeted sounded as queen elizabeth arrived. the entire royal family helped mark that occasion including prince william and katherine. 1million people are expected to attend four days of celebration. let's go to bernadette woods. we just got information about severe thunderstorms warning. >> severe thunderstorms making their way into the state. thunderstorms warning for northern harper, carroll until 7:45. let's look at doppler radar and show you these storms are coming from the north.

bell air and eventually to elkton. when the sun does go down it will start to calm down. it is not like the other night. let's take a look right now on the map style. we have carroll county the northern part. and northwest parts of baltimore county until 7:45 for severe thunderstorms warnings. switch it over and show you we had sunshine earlier today but we're in a very unstable air mass. eventually showers and thunderstorms. this is the air mass we're going to be in for the next couple of days. we will be cooler and more unsettled than we have been recently. winds coming out of the west- northwest were trying to bring in drier air. but even with that drier air, we're starting to see the clouds build up to the point that we are having thunderstorms. 79 in dc. everyone in the 70s or lower, now a high today was only 78 degrees. below average after starting

off the day at 53. we're going to remain below average this entire forecast. so here's our set up. notice when i put it in motion, this huge spin off to the north. this was the low that started all of the weather on friday. the main parent storm with it is hanging back. it's hanging over the northeast and it's pumping a different amount of energy to come in. one being today, one being again tomorrow. we have tuesday, wednesday and even into thursday. so it works out like this. he's one little front coming down from the north, showers and thunderstorms with it. they'll die down overnight. tomorrow again in this kind of a weather pattern, showers and thunderstorms possible. as we remain in this weather pattern we're going to see that repeat. as far as waters go, small craft advisories will go back into effect into the north and northwest with that front comes through. there's a couple more where that comes from. we we have severe weather right now. this is not like the other night but still we don't want to mess around with these storms. tomorrow we get up to 75
