baltimore county, just one of the places still cleaning up. >> reporter: we're live, the damage was extensive and will take time to repair. a job born out of necessity after tornadoes ripped a path of destruction around the state. >> we were outside and we ran for cover. before i could get the garage door closed, the trees all snapped. >> reporter: utility crews were trying to restore power to those in the dark. work crews spent the day cleaning up the damage while homeowners and insurance adjustors spent time trying to determine how much it would cost and how long it would take to repair. >> we have another one that's leaning. i've been trying to get the tree company out here. >> reporter: here just off

belair road, the storm's damage was pretty evidence. this is a roof ripped completely apart. there's a small office complex, the storm ripped the brick off the building. >> i remember hearing rain and then all you hear is wind and the sound of almost a freight train. as you lookout side and watch windows go in and out from the wind, it was a scary experience. >> reporter: so widespread damage, only a few injuries. fortunately, no loss of life. for that, people say they are truly thankful. >> thank you. parts of hartford county proved to be the most dangerous during the storm. we have a closer look at the aftermath. >> reporter: check out this tree. it is huge, it's healthy. look at what happened when that

tornado ripped through on friday. look closely at this photo and in the rear-view mirror, you can see the tornado. >> it was a hell of a tornado. >> reporter: jeff could feel his small auto shop shaking. >> a lot of rain. you couldn't see anything. all you could see was metal flying. >> reporter: hospitalized after he was pinned under a concrete wall when the tornado demolished his auto shop. the tornado ravaged this entire tree line, almost every tree took a major hit. in fact, a massive tree fell and crushed this trailer and what you can experience here is the smell from all this freshly cut wood. there are piles and piles of this mulch throughout the area as the clean up continues.

john corn's home now in need of repairs. have you ever experienced anything like it? >> never in my life. i hope nobody ever does. >> reporter: with some of the debris blown more than a quarter of a mile away, parts will never be the same. a lot of cars crushed as those huge trees came crashing down and the wind turned a lot of debris into shrapnel shattering a lot of glass in this area. >> and those tornado touch downs spread across several counties. we break down each area from hartford county. >> reporter: officially there were 10 tornadoes that touched down. they ranged across 8 different counties. look at the counties. we have everything from hartford to howard to prince george's to queen ann's county. carol county had two tornadoes

and montgomery county had three tornado touch downs. the one at bwi marshall is not officially confirmed as far as intensity. with the other 10 tornadoes, we have everything from ef-0 to ef-1 intensity ranging. that means that winds could have topped 100 miles an hour. that's the latest. >> stay with wjz for first warning weather coverage to find updates and live doppler radar any time. breaking news in southeast baltimore. three people are shot. it happened about an hour ago. homicide detectives are on the scene. we have a crew there and we're working to get more information about the victims. there's a man hunt in northeast baltimore for a gunman who killed a popular restaurant owner. he was shot several times this morning on belair road.

detectives think the shooter may have been looking for money. an 11-year-old boy dies accidentally shot while playing with a gun. police say his 8-year-old brother fired the weapon. we talk with the family about an investigation. >> reporter: wiping away tears while talking about the shooting that killed his grandson early saturday morning. >> he was my number one 11-year-old. he and austin played everything together. it was just a freak thing that happened. >> reporter: according to the grandfather, they got a gun from a neighbor's shed and were playing with it in the woods when the gun went off. >> the bullet hit the tree and come back and hit mikey. >> reporter: the investigation reveals something different. >> the 8-year-old accidentally shot the 11-year-old with a gun that was found. >> reporter: the gun was in a

st. mary's county. we had a brief shower earlier, very light stuff as you can see. most of it got stronger south of the region. clouds around, maybe a sprinkle here and there. it's a little chilly out there right now. the barometer is on the way back up. right now, 49 in oakland. 62 in ocean city. this time of year, 59 in elkin. it's 68, the warm spot over in washington so far. nothing by the way of rain there. 60 in belair. light north winds now keep this cool air in for a couple of more days. each afternoon with the sun coming out in the morning, good chance of another shower popping up in the afternoon. a lot of rain in maine kind of spinning around bringing those clouds down from the great lakes. that cool air will continue

until this low moves out and then we start a nice warm up, a really nice warm up by the end of the week. the weekend looks really nice and summery. showers to our south and north. they finally did make it into maryland. during the morning tomorrow, maybe another brief shower with a lot of clouds. then we see some sunshine. basically, this front to the south kind of dies out. the warm air begins to head back. not until late thursday or friday. we'll really see a nice warm up. the weekend should be pretty pleasant. winds as high as 20 knots. still a shower around, mainly south and clouds lingering. a shower possible mainly later on. normal high tomorrow is 80. 75 on wednesday. much drier and nicer.

boston tomorrow night. they've been losing games and losing players to injury. adam jones checked out fine after mris were done today on his wrist. jones suffered from pain after falling awkwardly avoiding a tag in the loss to tampa bay yesterday. a few days prior to that, he was hit by a pitch in his left wrist in toronto. he does expect to play tomorrow. ravens line backer suggs reports significant progress in his recovery. he says he will shock some people when he returns earlier than some expect. he is expected to miss at least half of the upcoming regular season. orioles back in action tomorrow night. night. stay healthy,,,,,,,
