jury selection, former penn state coach jerry sandusky goes

on trial in a sexual abuse case that shocked the nation. >> good afternoon. here is what people are talking about today. after months of acquisitions and drama the sex abuse trial of jersey sandusky is now underway. he is charged with abusing several young boys over a period of more than a decade. >> jerry sandusky and his lawyer arrived a t the court -- at the courthouse for day one of the jury selection. they picked from a pool of more than 200 potential jurors from center county, the home of penn state. inside a packed courtroom the judge stressed the seriousness of the case. >> he said i need you to all have an open mind. this department is charged -- defendant is charged with the sexual abuse of children. at that point jerry looked down. >> he is charged with 52 criminal counts and is accused

of sexually abusing 10 boys during a 15 year period. the abuse allegedly happened on campus and at his home. >> this case is getting a lot of media attention. reporters and crews are lined up outside the courthouse. the judge acknowledges that many jurors are are pretty particular with the case. >> nancy fulton feels the way a lot of people do in this community. she thinks it will be hard for him to get a fair trial. >> it was in the paper, on the news, on tv. >> sandusky is under house arrest and denies all the charges against him. if lawyers can find a jury in the next few days opening statements will begin monday. >> eight of sandusky's accusers will be testifying. four men are behind bars in howard county after police find a meth lab. last night someone

called police to report suspicious activity in a hotel room at the holiday inn. officers came to investigate, detected a oh do, found -- odor, found semicals. the sister of the woman for hire learns her fate. >> a judge has sentenced susanne data to life in prison. she provided the gun to murder her brother-in-law. she was shot in a contract killing. the convicted murder, wallet ter -- walter bishop is serving two life sentences. his wife will be on trial next month. >> two other people who took part in the plot have already been convicted. ed a a former -- a

welcome become. couple of showers -- welcome back. a couple of showers that popped up yesterday have died down over night. we have that north eastern wind keeping it cool. temperatures not going up all that much. 65 right now in baltimore. all of these 60s down to our south and east. look at these 50s in haggers town and oakland. we managed to get into the 60s, we will

probably top out in the low 70s. we're still under the influence from this same low pressure system. it's still spinning off to our north. while it's still around, still the chance again today for a pop up showers thunderstorm. again tomorrow and even into thursday before we start to see this weather pattern changing. when it does change warmer air is moving our way. we have one front coming down and one coming up. while that's happening temperatures are going to remain low. only topping out around 72 today, tonight into the 50s. tomorrow up to about 75 for our high. remember, our averages are climbing up to about 80 right now. this week has been below average and will continue to run that way until we hit friday and the weekend.
