child sex abuse trial for the former penn state coach. will he take the stand? >> >> hi i am mary bubala. defense lawyers are starting to present their side of the story in jerry sandusky ' child sex abuse trial they are hoping to show his good side and concern for children. the latest for wjz from bellefonte pennsylvania. >> reporter: lawyers for jerry sandusky are trying to show juror as different side of the man, witness for the defense penn state assistant coach ander son he said he and other coaches were some times around when sandusky brought young boys into the shore. a lawyer for an accuse -- shower. a lawyer for an accuser said it doesn't sound like a strong

defense for him. >> trying to persuade someone that it was right doesn't take you very far. >> reporter: sandusky is charged with 61 counts of sexually abusing 10 boys on penn state's campus and his home he met most of his accusers through his charity for at risk children. the judge told jurors looks like defense and prosecution will have everything wrapped up for wednesday with closing argumentjury deliberation, thursday. defense may call his wife and members of joe paterno's family and one of the last to testify could be sandusky himself. >> his lawyer has to see where things stand as things progress. >> reporter: the prosecution wrapped up its case with one final witness the mother of a boy he is accused of raping she testified her son has behaviour problems after spending time with sandusky she also said her son's underwear would free wently be missing when she did

laundry. in bellefonte pennsylvania wjz eyewitness news. the state dropped one of the 52 counts this morning because the law did not apply when the alleged crime took place. an autopsy under way for rodney king whose beating by l.a. pd officers more than 20 years ago lead to widespread race riots in l.a. >> mary, king was found yesterday morning, at the bottom of his swimming pool. they are treating it as an apparent drowning. king made national headlines 21 years ago when he was beaten by police. deadly riots broke out after the officers were acquitted, king struggled with addiction and repeated arrests over the years autopsy results are expected later on and toxicology tests will take 6 to 8 weeks. >> all right thank you. >> rodney king was 47 years old. investigation under way after a deadly fire, in southeast baltimore. it broke out just before

midnight saturday, 6400 block east born avenue, 51-year-old bruce wagner was found dead inside. he suffered severe smoke inhalation and burns two dogs also died in the fire. investigators say the home didn't have working smoke detectors there is still no word on a cause. well, we may soon know if the city bottle tax is a go or not. baltimore city council is expected to vote on the proposal tonight. it would raise the bottle tax from 2 to 5¢, council already has given preliminary approval the increase could raise $10 million to help fix schools. if approved it would go into effect next summer, much more on the proposed bottle tax coming up at 5 and 6. well, a highlight of the star spangled celebration today, a very special ceremony held at fort mchenry to mark the war of 1812. wjz is live at the inner

it is 69 degrees, central maryland, complete first warning weather forecast is coming up. off duty new jersey police officer, surrenders after a 10 hour stand off inside a suburban philadelphia home. it happened at home in dills town, township t 4 -year-old office -- 42-year-old officer was taken into custody just before midnight. shots were fired at officers as they arrived at the scene. one officer was hurt he has been treated and released from hospital. a school bus accident in new york lands several people in the hospital, this morning the bus collided with a taxi in queens, and flipped over. there were five children, three adults on that bus. one adult was seriously injured, but it is not known if that person was on the bus or in the taxi. all other injuries were minor. more political fall out from president obama's decision
