4:24 pm
we're seeing a lot of themes. the entire state is under a severe warning watch until 9:00 p.m. right now, as a few moments ago -- ago, york county has not been able to shake the storms going through through there. right there at the middle of your screen, it's prince george's, anne arundel under severe storm warning until 5:00 p.m. when severe thunderstorm warning are issued, it's because the national weather service has said there's winds in excess of 50 miles an hour and the capability of hail, usually three-quarters of an inch or greater. keep in mind, these storms are all moving through. we've seen a lot of the intensity starting to weaken. a lot of reds all the way through this system as it starts to arc down the state. this does not mean it won't form again as they move through. some are already intact.
4:25 pm
the biggest reason for this today temperatures and the dew point, temperatures got up to a record high tying a report of 102 set back in 1887. we only got down to 80 degrees in the overnight hours. you add to that, the dew point which is really the fuel for these thunderstorms like the gasoline thrown into that very hot fire that we have going on right now and that's what they are feeding now. right now, the dew point has dropped out of the 70-degree range. a lot of moisture when we're talking about a moisture, over about 60 to 65. we're at 67 now. but these temperatures are being called down now because of the rain moving on through. this is what we've been hoping through to see the temperatures start to break. 76 in cumberland. 75 out in hagerstown. and the 70s as showers and storms are million -- are rolling through -- through. there's about a 20% differential when the storms
