dead, 13 more wounded in a movie theater massacre. we go live now to michelle griego. >> reporter: many are struggling to figure out what happened and why. cell phone video captured the gunman of the midnight video of the new batman movie, a child in a batman costume were one of many who escaped the carnage. >> i thought it was the stunt of the movie. >> reporter: he was in the second row when the attack started. >> i felt the cap from the bullet my leg. >> from the ceiling, he pointed it straight to my face literally three feet away from

me. so i curled into a ball and waited for him to go upstairs. >> reporter: he told police his apartment husband booby trapped. he used four weapons, two pistols and two assault rifles. his motive is not revealed but no apparent ties to terrorism. >> a young girl with blood all over. >> reporter: witnesses say they couldn't breathe after he released the da canister. michelle griegoa, back to you. >> thank you as much for that

report. >> fbi agents and police in suburban denver are using a hook and ladder fire truck to reach the unit. police say they put the camera at the end of a pole and found it booby trapped. the building was evacuated. the president addressed the mass shooting a short time ago. on behalf of the nation. >> we will take every step possible to ensure the safety of our all our people. we're going to stand by our neighbors in colorado during this extraordinarily difficult time. even as learned how this happened and who's responsible, we may never understand what leads anybody to terrorize their fellow human beings like

parts of the region saw close to 2.5 inches of rain. taking a look outside right now, a dreary afternoon with no sign. tim williams is tracking more rain and storms on live doppler radar. tim? >> certainly, the type of rain we need is a steady soaking rain. we got more than that last night with a little bit of the cost of flooding and damage. we do have showers in the area in the baltimore metro area, we are getting a bit of a break right now. we have rain moving from the west and another evening full of storms firing up. take a look right now. the storm prediction center issued a slight risk advisory for our area south of the metro area and the entire eastern shore. most of the top tier of the

state is not involved in this but because of the rain and drenching downpours that they could likely produce, we do have a flash flood watch in effect for much of the state and this is all through this evening as well as the slight risk category for the storm. we have this rain move for the rest of the day but have had rain. we send it to marty bass. marty? >> that's what counts. we have a graphic for you. for the most part with 1.06 inches of rain at b.w.i., still a little down for the month of july, below for the year at 90. so technically on the books, did we really dent the numbers? yeah, kind of, maybe a little. but here's the reality. bel air, 4 inchesover rain.

westminster, 3.1. columbia, just shy of an inch of a quarter. .3 in ocean city. we got et yesterday and tim showed you radar. the big slug to the west, that's creeping along. that's going to deliver hours worth of a good-soaking rain of heavier rain. you could get a violent storm but not a whole lot of rain. you could get a [ inaudible ] what's through this day and frankly through tomorrow. that's right. rain continues through the weekend. tim williams has this and now throw it back inside. >> marty, thank you. back-to-back storms hit maryland causing extreme

flooding. mike schuh has a look at the damage. >> reporter: hi, everyone. these storms that put b.g.e. back on the county line where they are out to try and restore power to about 50 people in this area. at the city county line, b.g.e. is getting the last few thousand residents restored by a 20 minute burst of storm energy. flash floods hit the region and casualties were immediate. >> a massive storm with lightning, thunder, actually really exciting. >> reporter: it came at a price in kenton. a storm knocked down this tree and received this shot that shows how water buckled the ceiling flooding the lobby. >> better out of here. let the water drain off. >> reporter: the storm knocked 30,000 people off the electric

grid with most here in baltimore city and townsend. they're working on the rest. the drain painfully slow in some places. this garage in carolina. mark groomer was one of those affected. >> the car seems to be running. >> they're up in the chesapeake bay. >> reporter: the storm also knocked out a cross at the highway.

12 miles per hour in b.w.i. marshall and around the area, variable wind direction as you see, but that's going to be the case as these showers move on through. air is a bit of a transition as you might expect. warm air from the south, cool air low still tracking off to the east bringing in the northeasterly flow. until this front completely gets out of here, we'll be dealing with the showers right on through tomorrow. sunday, the better of the two weekend days. temperatures will cool down nicely. the next high is at 7:53. 66 is the low tomorrow and then only in the 70s with a good bit of rain throughout the day. >> the orioles road trip
