theater shooting suspect fights to keep a piece of evidence private. the battle over a package as one survivor makes a surprising statement of forgiveness. >> reporter: good evening everyone i'm adam may. what did the accused gunman tell his psychiatrist. it could shed some new light on these attacks. the weekend filled with funeral and memorial services for victims of the colorado movie theater shooting. suspect james holmes is scheduled to be formally charged. but friends and family of the victim are still trying to come to grips with what happened. >> on a moment of crisis you don't have time to think about what you're going to do, all you have time for is react. >> reporter: holmes was a patient of lin fenton. police seized a package sent home to her now his attorneys are fighting to get it back. >> any communications between the defendant and the

psychiatrist are absolutely protected. we don't know at this point when the last time was that he had any communications with her. we don't know the nature of those communications. >> reporter: 12 people were killed in that movie theater, dozens injured including pierce oferrel who was sitting right next to the emergency exit. >> when i saw him it seemed like everything stopped. everything was in slow motion. i could not hear the movie anymore, literally it feels like i could feel his steps coming. >> i would say i forgive you and i would ask him if i could pray for him. because the truth is every person on this world deserves forgiveness. i also pray that he gets life in prison. >> reporter: and back here a hagers town movie theater is making a donation to the

victims of the tragedy in aurora. a motorcycle accident leaves an anne arundel county teenagers dead according to our media partners at the baltimore sun. it happened just before 7:00. tyler davis drove his bike into the median. a boy was found at the bolt tom of a pool in shambeles. when first responders arrived the life guard had just pulled the boy to safety. >> really a hero, both emt. mike the life guard and other members that stepped in. just a lot of heros yesterday. >> reporter: cpr was performed

on the boy. he was flown to shock trauma. you might be digging a little deeper into your pocket. you are talking about some price increases. derek valcourt has more on why bge officials say that this is all necessary, what's the deal? >> reporter: bge says that increase would amount to a little more than $11 extra each month for their average customer. but customers many of them say it's unfair they say they are already paying plenty. >> reporter: one month after a massive storm that left hundreds of thousands of its customers without power for days, bge says it wants to raise its rate under the distribution portion of the bill. that's the amount they charge to deliver the electricity to your home. a spokesman says the money is needed to update their infrastructure. >> this is a bad time to be asking for an increase. there is no good time in this economic environment and we get that. we are not tone deaf to that. but on the other hand.

if we do not seek you know the enhancement of our infrastructure and continue to keep it in good repair both from a safe perspective and reliability perspective we will fall behind. >> reporter: bg & e says it's only increased the distribution prices one other time in the last decade. customers say they are already paying enough but are willing to pay more if it will improve their service. >> i think if they want to upgrade that should be something they should do within. find the funds from within their company somehow. >> to upgrade it to delivery, that's up to them. if they want to charge you to send that out to you maybe they ought to give us better service. >> if they increased it and they kept my power on, i would be willing to pay extra. >> reporter: maryland service commission has seven months to take public comment and make

their ruling. we're live downtown at bge's head quarters, derek valcourt. >> we're going to hear a lot of opinions on this. several consumer groups will advocate against bge's proposal. those air conditioners haven't gotten any breaks. the basketball courts were just full of people out in truitt hill park. let's take a live look, kind of a mix of sun, a few clouds out there. a couple of little spotty showers but nothing too big. meteorologist bernadette woods live with an updated look at live doppler radar. i think i had six rain drops fall on my car. >> a couple of places got thunderstorms or two. we're in the summertime pattern but we're not going to have a dry radar most of these days, nothing like yesterday. we're showing you first doppler radar. more to our north in pennsylvania. they seem to be dying down.

a few could hold together. it's not as strong as the ones were yesterday. while all this is going on and that front did move through and move out of here. temperatures are down a little bit from yesterday. pretty average for july, 86 is where we sit right now. 82 in cumberland. the dewpoints also come down from the 70s of yesterday. we do have a front that's going to increase our chances of showers and storms. we'll have that coming up. viking and maryland could get a little more safe. more than $3 million of grant money was just awarded to several parts of the state. we'll tell you how baltimore will use its portion. >> reporter: keith morris loves to ride in the city but says it can be dangerous. >> right now we have to ride in the middle of the street in order to be noticed because there aren't that many bike lanes.

>> reporter: but governor o'malley plans to add biking lanes. >> i think the largest problem is just with all of the people along the harbor and bike out. so there's not a separate area for bikers and walkers. >> reporter: the money will also go toward bike lanes on several city streets and improving the bike share program. >> it protects the environment. it saves us money. it is good for our health and it helps us reconnect with our communities. >> reporter: lauren says there's safety in numbers and more people would bike if it wasn't so risky. >> right now i think we surprise people when we get honked it because they want us to get on the sidewalk while it's illegal to be on the sidewalks. >> reporter: before any construction stops the city will be taking resident feed back in september. at the inner harbor, andrea fujii. >> safety a big concern there. st.mary's in prince george's county will also be getting money to improve their biking

and flash flooding destroying china. that used to be a major highway. not much of it left. flood waters have crushed it

into pieces. without it people are stranded in towns. a plastic recycling plant goes up in flames forcing people from georgia. massive flames taking over the neighborhood in summerville. the fire has been burning since friday. it is still not under control tonight. residents within a quarter mile of the blaze were evacuated overnight it's still not clear what caused that fire to begin with. and car slams right into the home of a woman while she sleeping. a drunk 21-year-old man lost control of his car then he hit several cars. an elderly woman was sleeping inside, her mattress now sits in the backyard, her box spring is in the backyard. here's an explanation of how it happened. >> he was airborne so he just clipped the top of her mattress. it's a miracle she survived.

>> she was thrown off to the side there. her family says she's stable and expected to be in the hospital for a day or two. three men try to rob the wrong jewelry store in florida. as the man was trying to open the store the men trying to walk in. the owner says he knew something was wrong so he took out his gun and the men ran. no one was hurt. an attempt to redock tuesday pailed. a second attempt this morning was successful. the cargo was kept to collect garbage. we have enough space garbage out there, don't we. what a beautiful day. you have so many extreme days. all of a sudden we had 88 and it's nice. >> a thunderstorms or two in a

few areas. up to 88 degrees. humidity not completely gone. >> not unbearable. >> but some what in check which is where we sit right now. we're still at 86 degrees. a little bit of breeze if that out of the north. it's brought our dewpoints down and our humidity down. of course you know this is july so we have a few changes coming in. we will have that forecast when we return. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

it's just temporarily. it's drifting toward the beaches and some coming down from pennsylvania. moving into cecil county and they are moving south. some of these will hold together. other than that we see a couple just in southern parts of maryland about to move to virginia. other wise look at this, 88 degrees for our high. not that bad 86 is our average. so we're above average and we started out today at 69 degrees out in the mountains in oakland we dropped down into the 50s this morning. temperatures at this hour 86 in baltimore, 73 in oakland at this point. also 79 degrees in ocean city. you see the dewpoints have come down into the 60s making it feel more comfortable outside. we're in the mid- to upper 80s with a little bit of a breeze out of the north behind yesterday's cold front. this is what we have going on. clouds have built up in the afternoon with that front not that far away. that's what's sparking a few of these thunderstorms but not widespread. there's a few more fronts out there and they are going to be

moving our direction. right now though a little bit of a break as we were just saying but by monday, we'll see the chance for showers and thunderstorms as this high starts to move away and as it's moving away, a new front is going to move our direction. drawing out more moisture. tuesday into wednesday that's going to be our best chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms. that's when the radar is going to be the fullest. here's how that looks coming into the west. there's the cold front part of the storm it's going to come through on wednesday. then it'll limit our chances as we head into the second half of the week before another cold front comes. bay temperature is 82 degrees. today there is that thunderstorms out there in a couple of places but it will die down becoming clear. chance for an afternoon and thunderstorms. in the next couple of afternoon very close to our averages but as we get into wednesday we're back up into the mid-90s.
