>> we begin today with breaking news from the ravens. a day after an over time loss to the washington redskins the 9-4 team shakes up its coaches staff. they fired offensive coordinator cam cameron. he was highly criticized during his 5 years with the ravens. the ravens played better on offense yesterday, scoring 28 points. the offense has struggled in the past several games against the steelers and the chargers. taking over for cameron quarterback coach jim cad -- caldwell. how will this play out for the ravens? we'll find out this sunday when the broncos come to town. don't miss the game at 1:00 on wjz 13. putting the brakes on speed cameras. lawmakers are demanding answers about why there's been so many mistakes with them.

derek valcourt has more. good afternoon. >> reporter: good afternoon. keep in mind a lot of folks were skeptical about these speed cameras before they were even installed. now that there's reports of problems some lawmakers want to make sure they're fair and accurate for everyone. >> reports of malfunctioning speed cameras dolling out tickets to drivers who don't deserve them have raised doubts. >> do you have faith in those speed cameras? >> no, i don't. >> i don't trust them. >> the evidence is there that people are not accurate -- they're not accurate. >> the evidence of the speed camera problems came from an investigation by our media partner the baltimore sun that discovered inaccuracies with a handful of the city's 83 speed cameras. take this one on cold spring lane. it snapped 11,000 speeders. some tickets had to be voided after the camera reported the wrong speed. the department of transportation said they're work being the company that operates those cameras to conduct a rigorous

investigation into the problem. >> the commitment is to have a camera problem with 0% errors. >> the mayor told wjz the cam -- cameras are making speed zones safer. the average speed of drivers is down. how many tickets may be wrong may be impossible to tell. for more drivers it's easier to pay up. >> or you have to spend your entire day fighting it. it's a hassle. they found a way to get some more money out of the people of baltimore. it's a bit of a shame. -- delegate john carden is holding a press conference to talk about the problems and potential solutions. >> reporter: we'll have an update at 5:00 and 6 o'clock. >> thank you. despite the problems the city says it has an error rate of less than one quarter of 1%.

hopefully no one was speeding anywhere this morning with heavy fog blanketing our area. clouds descended early this morning turning the morning commute into a nightmare. many flights were delayed at bwi. taking a live look from the harbor cam now the clouds are so low you can't see a lot of anything out there. when will the fog lift? marty is in the weather center with the latest. >> good afternoon. that shot -- i guess with jessica the inner harbaugh is still socked in. given what don and i couldn't see which was over the ledge, fog is starting to lift a bit. let's take a look at temperatures and winds. that's going to tell us the story. it is 57 on tv hill. temperatures in western maryland have dropped into the upper 40s. they were in the low 50s earlier. that 57 on tv hill is 8 degrees warmer than this time yesterday. i point out western maryland

because that is the direction a cold front is moving. it's moving right at us from the west. going from northwest to southeast. you're starting to see the winds picking up a little bit instead of calm. that will stir the fog up and start to break it up. once that boundary you see on this graphic comes into the region, we'll be seeing shower activity spread across the state. already happening in western maryland and moving east through the 70 corridor. we are in for a bit of a change. how much so? well first warning details coming up shortly. i'll give you a hint, you need to find your coat. >> thank you very much. an off duty baltimore county police officer is recovering today after being shot because of a fight in a neighborhood that he was just driving through. mary bubala is live in the news room with the latest on this. good afternoon. >> reporter: good afternoon. the officer was shot twice as he drove through the overly neighborhood early yesterday morning. authorities say he stopped his car at the intersection of dale and ken

wood because of a crowd standing in the street surrounding a fight. he asked to be let through but someone pulled out a gun and shot him two times. the officer was treated and released. back to you. >> thank you very much. police are still looking for something that will lead them to the man with the gun. the radio hosts who pulled a royal prank on the hospital in britain are now speaking out. the dj's say they never meant any harm and are devastated that a nurse is dead. >> we're so sorry that this has happened to them. >> radio host mel greg and michael kristen say they're filled with greats over the royal prank. the pair fought back tears as they talked about the death of the nurse who fell for the hoax. >> we couldn't see this happening. it was meant to be a prank call. >> last week they pretended to be the queen and prince charles when they called the hospital

carrying for prince william's wife, kate. >> hello there. could i please speak to kate, my granddaughter. >> the nurse put the call through to the ward. three days later british police found her body. they called her death unexplained. many believe she took her life. >> i think it's a terrible shame. >> a memorial for the mother of two is growing near the hospital where she used to work. some people believe that the dj's who tricked her should be punished. >> i think they should be quite simply. >> what do you think of what they did? >> i think it's appalling. >> no harm was intended on her on the other nurse or kate or prince william or anyone. >> radio executives said they tried to contact the hospital staff five times before airing the phone conversation but could not get through. medical examiners are still dry trying ing -- trying to determine the cause

well, that is about as foggy as you'd ever want to see it at a noon hour. the fact of the matter is this, when don and i were doing the morning edition you could only see the rain drops on that lens. believe it or not the fog is slowly but surely trying to lift. we're still looking at 57 degree s on tv hill with the same dew point. we're starting to get movement in the wind. that's going to stir the deal up and start busting up the fog. that's always going to be the -- there's a frontal boundary moving through the area and rain comes in. barometer is at 29.70. expect showers and thunderstorms as a strong cold
